Chiseling Test of the New IH 1486

- One thing we have to remember, the tractor is nearly 40 years old and 8000 hours. It starts and runs good, puts power to the ground, keeps the sun off, plus has a chrome stack, what more could you want? I really do have a thing for buying 14xx series IHs at auction on accident don't I? If it's in the barnyard, it'll get used. Stay tuned for a chisel point replacement ... eventually, points are here, just to sit down and bust knuckles on the 12 shank 458 white. And 2+2 is still in the shop, but in one piece, not two.
This will probably be the last bit of dryness for a while, because you know, Ohio is Shawnee for rains all the time. - Věda a technologie
I know it’s going to be a good day when I get that fun farming adventure notification!
Those cabs were better looking than the previous generation of cabs. Good solid tractor and not a bad price.
Yeah, not a fan of 66 series cabs. They look cool, but were a severe afterthought.
Great new tractor that looks even better when Jacob’s in the seat! Stay safe and keep well Jacob!!!
For the horsepower and overall condition you made out really well i think. Sounded good!
Jacob you are truly a Saint ! Putting up with Nick you have a good heart and lots of patience, I like the new tractor 🚜 and hope it works out well for you as always a nice video .
You sure know how to sucker me in with a thumbnail 🤣
Nice additi0on, I'll make one suggestion: If you'd like to it to last, make that the last time Nick drives it.
Take care of her and she will take care of you.
good to hear the 2+2 is back together can't wait to see it working.
Great video! Love the stack cam on the 1486. The 86 series were some awesome machines for sure.
Love seeing the old tractor still working
Omg I'm very proud o yu. Got that nice tractor. Good 4 u. Nothin beats a cornbinder gruntin. Great video. I ran an IH 27 yard pan for my dad. Screaming all day .luv it.Thankyou
It was a dresser 27 yard pan sorry
Chrome AND dangley wires! very relatable.
Looks good, feels good.
Always a good day when you drop a video.
Great videos! Thanks for sharing your farm!
Nice video the tractor sure is a beast
Good morning Walter.
What’s good keepin busy
Letting Nick run her is a good test in durability. If she survives a few hours with him then you know you got a good tractor!
Lol
I'd be pretty reluctant to let Nick run anything that I need for farming. Parts are way too expensive to let a yahoo like that tear stuff up
Nice straight pipe , lots of power now. Thanks from Georgian Bay.
I just knew it wasn't gonna be Jacob making that tractor wheelie!
Very nice buy, I wish I had come across that deal. Once you get all the bugs worked out it should be a great tractor.
The engine makes beautiful noise and your land is superb. At home it is snowing.
Good luck with the tillage.
Spent a lot hours in a old 1566 they were power houses, got 4855 J.D F.W.A a world of difference.
Nice video Jacob, love those red tractors
That is a beautiful classic, I hope one of these years you guys will have enough money to get a classic semi truck that would be dope to see you drive that. 😃
Hope you have good luck with the new tractor 👍👌
So glad u got a decent cab too. Sometimes i watch u on tractors in the cold an i shiver right here on my couch.lol
U should invest in getting a good AC in there too. U do allot o hay. Just one man's opinion. Thankyou luv ur video's
She sounds beautiful!
Its a beauty... my son is bringing a 3588 nack to life and bought a 186 hydro thats in beautiful shape.
We like our pre case IH tractors and they still earn their keep...
Lugging the engine is harder on it than running the engine at 2400 rpm. Run it like it was meant to in heavy pulling and in lighter loads you can pull back on the rpm. I also wouldn't turn up the injector pump if I didn't have to because the 14 series had some trouble with the rear end as did the 10 series if a 10 were turned up to 150 hp or more. Grease the heck out of those front ends every 8 hours religiously because those front axles wear out fast. I would ditch the mounted chisel and get a pull-type because the IH 3-point has a tendency to break parts in your heavy pulling conditions. Just giving some constructive criticism and pointers to help you get the most from your IH tractors. I used to work at a CaseIH dealership when there were still a lot of those series tractors in operation.
Yes, time to get the soil open. As there is no drive train to the front, yes the duals do provide all the grunt.
Sounds good👍 not much twine in sight either all is good. Nice purchase. Stay safe 🏴
Thank you
my favorite model tractor of all time right there
Love those old IH tractors. This would be a good one to spruce up a little.
Sounds great and running well!
The ih 1486 is a solid tractor and I also have a 1486 with a loader and grapple on it and love videos
I have the exact same chisel & 1486 & I was chiseling today. L3H is the best I can do with mine.
Great find and price. You’ll like a complete cab with AC and a little less noise and dust.
Great awesome video Jacob
Ear plugs that whine on that turbo will get you after awhile chrome straight pipe looks good on the red nice job on the front rims
When you drop your implement don't be afraid to open the throttle up wide open. I think you'll find it will work much better that way. You'll hear that 1486 start to walk and talk
The old 1486 sounds good. I would bet from just watching how it pulls that chisel plow and hardly any color in the smoke that the diesel needs turning up . A 1486 should have absolutely no trouble pulling that plow. Wheel weights or ballast it the inside duals would be a great help . I’ve run the 66 and 86 series tractors all my life. Can’t beat them for longevity and power . I’m the proud owner of a 766, 966, 1066 and 1086 . My brother in law has our old 1466. Take care .
It's definitely not a smoker.
I ran a 1486 for many years and never had an issue with it. Had one I changed injector pump from 1486 to 1086 and the HP. Increased big time.
Nice tractor Jake!
Seems like a nice tractor for the money.
You got you a great looking 1486 IH. Still going good with 7,000 hrs . I got over 9,200 hrs on my 5320 John Deere cab tractor and it's got about 4,000 hrs on the clutch. That had a lot of hard pulling dragging big heavy logs out of the woods, Bushhogging and pulling a hay baler. I would like to get one more year out of the clutch if could. But if not I can't complain. I do have a 1990 Massey Ferguson 3070 with a new clutch in it and running good, that's is my main Bushhogging tractor pulling a 2615L Bushhog 15Ft batwing .
Have a 5085e and a 5075e and a 986 sold a 1466 regrettably. Hay and cattle operation so not much need for the 986. It’s nostalgic to run but damn happy it’s not an everyday runner. She will let you down when you need her the most. I still pull a 14 foot disc to fix ruts and plant grazing with it. Also good for cleaning up land with the 15 foot cutter.
Hey! I need to stop in and meet you guys sometime! I’m in northern Ohio! Love the farm! And the channel!
Thanks for watching!
Love the sound of those Beasts!!!
Definitely worth 7k
Super nice video and tractor .
Thank you
That I6 sounds glorious out of that chrome stack
You got a great tractor
Nice red one. All good to u jacob.
From germany
Thank you
Nice addition to the farm sir, hey if you need some IH wheel weights I have a couple of extra sets out here
Wonder if the A/C has been converted to 134a? I have done some of mine. Flushing, putting in Ester oil. New receiver/drier. Repair what ever else. While the gas is out.The best refrigerant I have found is the dust off. That is used to blow off computer key boards and like. Walmart has it. It's also known as 152a. It's not as cold as r12. But colder than 134a or any of the propane mixes I've tried. Pretty cheap too. Get 4 can in a plastic bundle for less than 20 bucks.
Nice tractor.
I love the 1486! And you got it for a great price!
Nice IH, it have the power
Be careful out there. Good Stuff
Looks like you got a fair deal.
Based on what you describe, the wheels have negative camber. Nice sounding tractor.
The old girl sounds goid working
I love old IH tractors. I think they are some of the best looking and running tractors out there as long as you steer clear of the TA ones.
So many folks didn't know how to use a TA. Wouldn't want one without.
sounds like it still has the muffler under the hood remove and adjust fuel timing alil itll be fine we've got a couple old 86 series to get rid of
It's a good Tractor Your farmers Is growing Then we all can't go out and buy all new Who cares what it looks like As long it gets the job done
You didn't get hurt any on that purchase. It may not be a cream puff but it's worth what You paid for it.
Veeeeeery nice. Pulls well. 👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Damn, she sounds good
The new to you 1486 the 1086 and the Hydro 84 would look good restored
They rightly would. Just need someone to do it.
Nice tractor Jacob, tractor data says its 162 hp , plenty of horses
Awesome 1486
I was just wondering what happened to the 2+2 the other day lol
I wouldn't let Nick drive my derby car lol
Haha
Love the tractor! Rip it up
Time to turn that pump a bit! It’s not even puffing smoke at all!
For a workhorse.. Dude it's fairly mint...
dam thats some tuff dirt you got there i sold a 5088 last fall in your area i feel sorry for my tractor now lol
Soil is heavy enough for brick making. Turn off the century, they dug into the back hillside and made bricks for the farm house.
A few years ago these 86s were selling dirt cheap! I know everything is going higher but in my area there going for the same $ as the green counterparts!
Sounds too quiet in the cab to be a true straight pipe, sounds like the muffler is still under the hood with the chrome stack added. Sounds really sweet though and looks better than what you paid, pretty good deal I think if it doesn’t need much attention for awhile. Good chunk of money in that rack of front weights these days too.
Nice tractor for over 8000 hrs. Think she'd benefit from extra rear wieght. Try pulling some of those wieghts off the front(since they actually pull wieght off the rear axle through law of the lever), to help with pull.
Anyhow, enjoy the new toy!
Did you see the front end coming off the ground?? When the draft pull of the plow downwards and the torque are balanced right, MOST of the weight is on the rear wheels, and the leverage of all that weight hanging off the front is multiplied by the leverage effect. That's how you get traction... Later! OL J R :)
i love 2wd tractors
You better be careful- he might run you over! LOL With a little work, I think that was a great buy :)
The next tractor you need Jake is an 806 diesel lmao
Jacob ah thinks yo nuts. I do like your new tractor I hope you didn't pay too much. I like the 2+2 more better but this 1486 is a workhorse. The old man who owned it seems to have been a good owner, now we will see how you do. Would like to see some 2+2 shop work of course. I watch Duffy ag back in New England and he has an old 7520jd that brings to mind your 2+2. I think yours has more power but could be mistaken.
Conan O'Brien's podcast with Arnold brought me here. I needed to see what Rosie looked like.
Hell of a tractor you've bought Jacob, but i'm still waiting on seeing a big blue ford land on your driveway :)
Holds on to your britches! Because something is happening.
@@boehmfarm4276 You're teasing me now mate haha, i'll look forward to seeing what shows up :)
@@boehmfarm4276 Don't keep us waiting!
You should do a video and all the tractors you have and what’s good and bad about them or pieces of equipment that would be pretty cool
Sounds like an equipment tour.
I like your videos. Tractor looks good. How does that compare to the 2 + 2 for power?
It's about the same size, 2+2 has more wheels to put that power on the ground.
Turbo sounds good! Do u know if it has the muffler delete kit?
Yep, no muffler under the hood.
#1486 gang. Love the red power
You should got a green one do you prefer raw or rubber
hi,New to your channel,found u from onelonelyfarmer
Thanks for coming over.
Any 2+2 update ?
I grew up with a 986 and 1586. We put a front end assist on both tractors in the mid 80’s, it completely changed how they handled tillage and harvesting in wet conditions. It cost $3800 per tractor.
Nothing sounds like an Inter with the 400 series engine .
I'm trying to figure out why the dual gaps are different.
Was hoping for video of you pulling home the 50bu. gravity box with it.
Thanks for sharing.
Different rims...they dont match
Well, I was making the maiden voyage in that truck, so a little overwhelmed to worry about filming.
@@boehmfarm4276 fair enough, figured it looked funny seeing that big tractor pulling a little gravity box.
Yeehaw... give that driver a pbr.
Nice tractor. Sounds like it's running alittle slow. Gotta set rpm while loaded not sitting still brother. 😊 Sounded like Nick had her spinning
Nick doesn't save any fuel.
No turbo that I can hear ????? that's a good price on that tractor I think ????? duals - front weight galore - sounds good running and pulling
