    Seems like a solid entry into this device category. I think as time passes they will close the gap and be more accurate and hence more competitive/comparable. That’s usually good for us consumers. 😊

    Thanks for the good review....I have been using a Varia for years now and I can only recommend a radar for any biker to increase safety....and survivability, depending on where you ride. I lived in VA for quite some time and many drivers in the US, especially in the area where I rode my bike, were not necessarily careful when sharing the road with cyclists.

    Hey Des, 👋 I also noticed a fair amount of late responses with this device. I also think the battery life specs are optimistic. You did a really great job on this accuracy section here 👌. I have a feeling that Bryton will continue to work on this with firmware updates. Seems like the software development side of things is still in motion. 🤷‍♂

      Hey Matt! I agree - the software side of things may be in flux for a while. This sort of device certainly has to be tricky from the software/algorithm side of things so I hope to see improvements with firmware updates. Thanks man and great video on your side as well!

    Thanks for review. Did you get any info from Bryton? Do they plan to update firmware and fix false negatives issue? If so, would you be so kind and retest your unit after update?

    Can you connect to multiple Bluetooth devices simultaneously? Like two smartphones since those useally dont have ANT+ nowadays. Thanks for the review. 😊

    There is also the Magene radar that came out last year

    • @linstetho1561

      I bought Magene radar after my previous varia radar wore out. The Magene missed a lot, say, about 5% or more.

    Thanks for the review Des, any feedback from Bryton about whether the radar performance could/will be improved with firmware updates? Seems pretty disappointing in the current state, especially for a 'safety' product

    • @DesFit
      @DesFit  Před rokem +1

      The device has been out for a while (available in some areas since last year) and it's been receiving updates all the way up until a week or so ago, so unsure if it can be improved even further or not. I'll certainly have an update if I see anything new. Thanks!

    So, what does it do when connect it the Forerunner 965? Do you have to look at your watch to see if cars are approaching, or what?

      If it's anything like my varia on my 955, it screams at me. If I were to mount it on the handlebars it would be a tiny little screen with the red flashing I think. I'm usually just focused on staying upright but the buzz on my wrist and the beeping is a nice touch.

  • @krollpeter
    @krollpeter Před rokem

    Don't you think you should keep your eyes on the road, instead on a small icon on a screen?

    • @DesFit
      @DesFit  Před rokem +1

      This is exactly what this is trying to help you do with providing audible alerts, and when you are alerted it’s just a quick glance of the screen.
