  • I bought my Kinbor’s from AliExpress (link in pinned comment).
    I’m really excited for this video because I found a planner that checks all my boxes for an on-the-go Just Scribble brand/social media planner. But also, because I can share many of the Kinbor planners with you and how they compare to some popular planners in the community from Hobonichi and Kokuyo Jibun. These Kinbor planners are very reminiscent to the Hobonichi and Jibun planners and take some aspects of both and merge them together to form what I feel is a pretty awesome planner design. The planners aren’t Tomoe River Paper or Kokuyo MIO or THIN paper but they are Japanese Bachuan paper which I find to be very nice so far.
    Although I don’t have every Kinbor planner offering I did purchase quite a few of them and in this video as listed below:
    • Weekly: A Hobonichi Weeks size weekly planner with similar layout to the Hobonichi Weeks
    • Weekly Notebooks: Plain grid notebooks in Hobonichi Weeks size
    • A5 Year-Round (Daily): This planner is similar to the Hobonichi Cousin except without the weekly pages. It comes in black and also a special edition red with a tiger as 2022 will be the year of the Chinese Zodiac Tiger. This also comes in A6 size.
    • A5 Timeline: A Weekly planner reminiscent of the Kokuyo Jibun Techo. It comes in pink, red, navy, evergreen, off-white and black.
    They also offer a Day Free planner in A6 size as well as Avec (2 volume) version of the daily planner in A6 and A5 size.
    I’m using the weekly for social media and branding. I use a discbound planner for my main planner for this but it’s too bulky to carry out and about and I want to have a dedicated planner for my brand so I can have a place for brain dump, daily tasks and trackers too. I know to develop my brand and reach the goals I have set I need to stay on top of my plans and ideas and having a planner that can be at my side all the time will definitely help. The Weekly is 91x185mm and mine is a soft PU leather cover though they sell hardcover versions as well. The planner contains an annual overview calendar, monthly checklist (year at a glance) that can be used for habit tracking), monthlies for the full year, a yearly schedule, weeklies for the full year, grid pages for notes and collections, a scheduler, yearly target 21-day plan, favorites section, savings plan, gift list and more.
    I do have a 2nd order coming so with the Avec version of the A5 and a few other items so I’ll do a separate video when those come in. And I’m going to be doing a giveaway with one or two of these planners too so make sure you are subscribed and also following me on IG @justscribble.yt so you don’t miss out because they’ll be some extras included too 😉

    I bought the Kinbor’s on AliExpress. This is the shop I bought mine from: A Willow Tree Store
    a.aliexpress.com/_mKQx88q There’s a lot of different shops and listings but I can share specific ones with you if you want. Just comment below.
    Note: in this video I compare the A5 Timely (weekly planner) to the Kokuyo Jibun B6Slim Lite because that’s all I had available. But I wanted to note that there are some differences between the Lite and their Standard and Biz planners. I’ve outlined that below for your reference:
    Standard: The Standard (or regular) diary is a very colorful - more so than the other Jibun Techo offerings. The layout on the weekly pages varies slightly from the Lite I showed - it doesn’t have the check boxes at the top of each daily column and has a place to record daily meals. And the regular diary includes more “extra” pages than the Biz and Lite. It includes age charts, weekly plan (ideal schedule), money plan, maps, 100 wishes, favorite phrases, gift lists and more.
    Biz: It is similar in layout to the regular Diary. Differences include: subdued color palette; traditional font; MIO paper; monthly tabs are one color; railway and world maps are not included; page titles are in Japanese and English.
    Lite: It’s a simplified layout with these differences: Two-year calendar; collective “List Of” section; combined monthly calendar with Gantt chart; the weekly page does not include the meal log; the monthly tabs are one color; maps and other pages are not included; page titles are in Japanese and English.
    Days: This is a page-a-day planner in avec form (two books for the full year). It’s the only Jibun Techos available in a daily format.

    Great review! But it's worth mentioning that in Kinbor planners the week numbers do not follow the same system as in other planners. The standard that is used in the West and by Hobonichi, Jibun and other planers I know, is that week 1 of a year is the first week to have a Thursday in it (because that would be the first week where the majority of the days are in the new year). In the Kinbor planners week one is simply the first weekly spread, regardless of the international standard. It bugs me and is probably a deal breaker for me. I am a teacher living in Norway, and the standard week numbers are the main thing schools here use for yearly overviews and teaching plans.
    (Perhaps Chine has follows a different system for week numbers. If that's the case, I assume Taiwan would follow the same system - so I am happy the Take A Note planners don't have week numbers in them at all. Somehow feel much better to add them myself than correcting the printed ones.)

    • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble  Před 2 lety

      Thanks so much for watching. And thanks for pointing that out. I don’t use or reference week numbers in any planners I use - never have for work or otherwise so I wasn’t aware there was a standard. I appreciate you sharing. Love learning something new!
      I adore my Take A Note planner so much. I hope they’ll add B6 to their lineup for 2023 so I can use for more planning!

      @@JustScribble Yeah I don't think it's as widely used in most countries as it is in Norway. The whole "Week of February 28th" way of saying it feels so unnecessary when you can just say week 9 :) Great for planning work projects. But I guess it all depends ln whatever people are used to!

      Aloha! Thanks for watching Thomas. There are quite a few really good A5 options that are fountain pen friendly - not all are in the Hobonichi Weeks style (with the horizontal on the left page and grid on the right) but there's some other great layouts to checkout as well. Some I've shared on videos (though not all). I've included a list of a few of them below for reference.
      Wonderland222 A5 (I have some videos on these and another video coming soon)
      Take A Note Planner (Yoseka is doing a preorder on these)
      Nolty makes a few A5 planners
      Jibun Techo (comes in A5 slim which is just a little narrower than a standard A5)
      Takahashi Shohen has some great planner too and some come in A5 size. Their 742 is in the Weeks layout. Here's there website but I usually buy from Amazon Japan. I'll be sharing some of these planners in the coming weeks as well. www.takahashishoten.co.jp/notebook/31742.html

I have a few other journals/notebooks, so this yearly one would be mostly to jot down expenses, important dates, appointments which I can fit into the monthly and weekly and use the blank note pages to jot down notes. • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble  Před 2 lety +2

      Paper is definitely very subjective. Lots of people love Tomoe River paper and other similar papers - and find it works phenomenally for their favorite pens (especially fountain pens). Many love the MIO paper and other papers as well. And some of us like them all ;)
      I personally love thin paper especially for my planner and I am a huge fan of Tomoe River Paper (which is what Hobonichi is made out of). But I will say the new TRP that's coming out this year shows less on the opposite side as the paper is different since it's being made by another company now so you may like it better when Hobonichi starts using the new version but that'll be a bit.
      This paper, the Kinbor paper, is not TRP - it's not quite as thin as TRP and reacts differently to pens. It doesn't show as much on the reverse side. I do have a 2nd video coming out for my 2nd haul with some other Kinbor notebooks and in that video I do pen tests so you might want to check that out as well.
      But I'm glad that you love the Kokuyo Jibun paper. I'm a big fan of Kokuyo products. I actually have a giveaway on IG for some of their products right now ;)

    the shipping cost to get a hobonichi in Brazil is outrageous so I got a kinbor a5 weekly plus a kinbor a5 daily, put them in the same cover and so I have my "kinbor cousin" 😂

    • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble  Před rokem +1

      Yes shipping for Hobonichi to the US is very expensive too - often as much as the planner depending on the on you get so I completely understand. Back when I used Hobonichi planners I would do large group orders with some friends in the planner community to save us all money! But I much prefer the Kinbor to the Hobonichi - for the clean look of it and the paper is quite nice. That's awesome that you made your own Kinbor Cousin! :)

    • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble  Před rokem

      In the A5 size? Like you need monthly, weekly plus daily? An alternative is to get the A5 they offer that’s monthly and weekly and get a Stalogy or similar notebook to pair with it for dailies. I find a half year Stalogy or half year Wonderland222 is a nice pairing - not too thick and they work together nicely as a team. Also gives me more flexibility so if I don’t need a whole day I can use just part of a day or if I want to use more than a page per day I can.
