- Hey Material Girls! So two of the questions I get asked most often is what machine should I buy first and what's the difference between them. You asked and I answered, why get a sewing machine versus a serger? Leave a comment and let me know if you want more videos on sergers and how to use them, thread them, etc.

Comment below I LOVE LAMP! if you read the description box because that means you're awesome! đ - Jak na to + styl
Thank you for actually explaining the differences between them and showing those differences.
Lmao the twerk part took me out! Such a great video! Very detailed and informative! Thanks for sharing â€ïž
I'm saving up for a serger. I can't wait to get one.
Hope you got one!
Thank you for this! I love how detailed your videos are. I was actually too lazy to look up the difference myself because I'm a visual learner lol. đ
Kay my pleasure hon đ I'm a visual learner too so I get it đâ€ïž
i have worked with a sewing machine but wanted to learn how to do clothes and stumbled onto your video and loved the info so much and the clothes you made!!
I LOVE LAMP! I absolutely love your sewing machine and serger. I love to sew and a serger, is my next buy. I see how it makes so many things, so much easier.
+Susan King you're awesome! đâ€ïž You will love it!
I love your videos. so quick and concise. I will be getting a serger soon after I become more comfortable with my basic sewing machine. Keep up the amazing work. Blessings to you and yours.
Just finished an virtual sewing class with Jubilee Arts in Baltimore. It was wonderful. I am so glade I found your channel. Contemplating getting a server and doing research when I came across your channel.
Thank you! I've been struggling about moving to serger, and I see it would be in addition to... and I would get to TWERK in my sewing room!! (LOVED that!)
Great video, thanks! I've been doing fine so far with just a sewing machine, but a serger is definitely on my wish list :)
Thanks. Dope video. I learned a lot.
Iâm a visual learner, thank you for this! Iâve tried and desisted so many times.
Heyyy....Thank u so much for this. I just received my serger this morning and my bestie asked me what a serger was...now I can share this with her
Wow thank you very much for making this video! I am completely new and clueless to the world of sewing, your video has helped me a lot. I immediately subscribed!!
Thanks for the video. I've grabbed an Overlocker (server) as Amazon deal of the day today. So excited, especially for Jersey!
Wow thank you I have been sewing stuff at home and always wondered how to make the inside look professional like in stores... thank you for this video
I definitely use both as my serger/overlocker hasn't got the space on my right part of the needle like my sewing machine is and when I make huge full skirts you need that space to put bulk of fabric in when sewing bustle skirts like I do and quilts. ;)
thank you for this!! iâve been looking for a good video on what my gmaâs serger does! iâve been trying to fix up a skirt i bought that was too big and this is perfect to get a little acquainted!!
Thank you for this video and explaining the difference between the two very well
New to sewing, love your videos! A serger is on the list because Iâm making clothes for my baby so when sheâs crawling round she pushed my seams to the max đ€Šđœââïž
I watched the circle skirt video đ definitely want to make that!!
I LOVE LAMP đ
Nice vid! Thanks for showing the usefulness of a serger! I'm a dude here though...not a material girl haha. Funny video, though I'd lose the very subtle background music. The twerk sequence was pretty funny. :D The serger really makes a huge difference in getting a professional look and protection against fraying.
Omg youda best!!! Thank you so helpful so beautiful. So excited to watch ALL of your videos. Love and light
I love this video! Thank you so much for the info! đ it's really helpful.
Wonderful post...I was looking for an alternative to the horrible news from DC, something to feed my soul and creativtiy. Your work is wonderful. How fortunate for your loved ones. Thanks for a great, well-made, informative video. Keep up the remarkable work, Nadira.
Great video! So gracefully presented by a beautiful voice :) Thank you!
I'm going to try to use JUST a serger since i could only afford that. Outta stock due to the quarantine!
Great video. Exactly what I wanted to know. Well done too.
Thank you for the video. I started with a sewing machine and thinking of using a server now because I want a professional finish when I make clothes. I guess I can use my old sewing machine to add zippers.
youu are awesome at explaining!
I'm new to sewing. This video was very helpful.
Very informative and concise. Thank you :)
Ugh đ wish I knew this before learning to 𧔠sew thank you this was really helpful đđđ
I know the feeling, glad it was helpful! đ
You know No one explains this, that you still need to have a sewing machine. I brought a serger to finish raw edges, not to construct the entire garment. I was trying to decide should I mark my seam line on all pieces, then serge my edge. After with rt sides together stitch my seam. Usually I don't mark the seam line because we do 5/8 allowance of whatever allowance it calls for. I want to always allow the serger to cut the clean edge.
Have you done a beginner's guide to your sewing machine? My mom just bought that same one and I want to learn and its hard finding a good quality video on how to use or even putting the thread through. And it being computerized makes me even more confused Lol
Congrats on the new sewing machine, I haven't done a guided on this machine. I did one for my previous machine but it's not computerized. I would say start with just playing around with the settings and making basic stitches. It's pretty easy to get used to once you get started. đđ
Thanks I'll see what I can do âș
Great video. Just ordered the Brother 1034D from Walmart for $149! Also your daughter is lucky to have a beautiful and talented Mama like you! Love the outfits you made. :0)
Thank you for this video! Greatly appreciated!
What would you recommend for just finishing edges. I print on fabric using an HP Latex 360, but when it comes to cutting it frays. I print banners and signs.
That white skirt is FIRE!!!!đ
I just got a sewing machine and I am already longing for a serger! I will have to give the zigzag finishing stitch a try! Thanks!!
+Hannah Hayes my pleasure hon, thanx for watching and commenting. đ happy sewing and soon serging đ
Nadira037 i love lamp!
Thank you, I am considering a serger. I just got a new sewing machine and the overlocker keeps coming up because I don't like zippers and want to do more stretch. Thanks for clearing up what you can do with it.
Congrats on your new sewing machine. I'm glad I could help! â€ïž
Great video! I don't actually have an over locker ( or serger) but will definitely be getting one in future x
Thank you hon, you will love it! â€ïž
I enjoyed your video! It was very informative. Thanks!!!
I have both a serger and a computerized machine, this video is very informative
+Dare2B DifferentDIY awesome! Glad it was helpful đâ€ïž
This was so helpful thank you!!!
I love LAMP.How long did you use your sewing machine before changing it and how long before the addition of a serger?
ŰŽÙŰ±Ű§Ù ÙÙ Ù۶Ù۱۩
Still loving your videos years later lol
Stitch 16 on your sewing machine (overlocking stitch) can be used to seal in the ends. Like a server
Super helpful video! â€ïž
Thanks for sharing ! Great video !
I love your channel so much!
I have to start off by saying what an amazing tutorial!!!! Answered a lot of question and visuals are spot on! I have a question, does the serger machine work on leather or suede materials? And if you do work on these materials do you recommend a certain machine, im not a pro, Iâm just starting, inspiration is i just had a baby girl and i would like to make more tailored clothing for her. Thank you again so much!
Very helpful! Thanks for the video =)
Thank you, you clarified the mess in my head :)
Thank you for this information â€
Great video. Thank you for the video very informative & helpful
Great video!!! New subbie. By the way, I LOVE LAMP!!! đđ
Great video! Can you please do a serger 101 video? I have a serger but I am still having trouble using it, and it is hard for me to teach myself.
I LOVE LAMP! I just received the same serger you have and I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer for in the manual or on the video. Can I adjust the seam allowance on the serger? If not, what is the seam allowance on this machine? Thanks in advance!
Thanks this is so helpful
I only have a serger but I'm new to sewing and usually do things by hand so I really want a sewing machine so I can get more experience! agh! I usually don't make clothes but I sew in various projects but I would love to tailor and mod my clothes
I came here for answers! đđŸ And I got em. Thanx!đ
Great video. Where did u get the measuring tape/ironing board cover?
thank u for this .. very helpful đ ..
oohh i love this! so clear, concise yet with a touch of fun and hilarity TWERK hahaha. I do have a question though: I'm planning on making my wedding dress (a process that will take me maybe a whole year of staggered work), and I've seen a lot of serger videos. Do you think a serger can do pretty much all the stitches necessary in wedding dress making? I don't want to have to buy both :( I was using my mum's sewing machine before but then it broke down ad we haven't bought a new one since
thanks for the vid! question - why not just use the serger for the construction instead of the sewing machine? also, can it be or is it annoying to change the spools for the serger? i imagine it could be
Love it... definitely will continue getting to grips with my computerized machine..... patience patience patience lol! enjoyed the video. the twerk was epicđ đ
I lost it at TWERK!
Thank you this was enlightening â€ïž
Awesome, I'm glad the video was helpful. đ
I know nothing about sewingđŹ Can the serger machine do simple stitching too? Thank Youđ
So Iâm about to start a clothing brand will be doing all the sewing myself Iâm quite comfortable with my sewing machine so itâs time to get a serger now right? Professional finish then I can start selling?
This mashine is called 'Kettelmaschine' in german đ
Cool thanks for the video
Girl you got the Rolls Royce of machines! #SewingGoals
Love your videos.
I love lamp! lol
yas! such a helpful video, I love my sq9185! i want a serger sometime this year, hopefully. can you make a video indicating features you look for in a serger?
lol the twerk was so funny! đ
+Patricia T you're awesome! đâ€ïž sewing machine twinsies đđœ I def plan on doing a serger series and haha that's as close as it will get to twerking on my channel đ
Loved your video. đ€Ł I shred with someone asking this very question. Beautiful garments and yes team work twerk! đ€Ł
Thanks for sharing!!
what's the advantage to sew first and serge next when you can only serge? iÂŽm new to this and a little bit confused. thank you.
Hi, is serger stitch more strong or sewing machine straight stitch? Thx
My stitches arenât tight enough to sew using only my serger. I see a lot of the thread between the seems. However, my serger tension settings are perfect. What can I do to start sewing with my serger?
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed the video :) I was given a serger recently but I haven't used it yet and I have a question, can you use the same kind of thread as you would do with the sewing machine or is it a special one? Thanks again! XOXO
You can but thatâs going to get really expensive really quick! LOL!
wow fantastic serger and sewing
+Christine Nakazibwe thanx hon đ
For those who can afford both . Can you start and finish a project (clothing , quilt anything ) with just a sewing machine?
Got my brother 1034dx today for my brother se-400. They are siblings now âșïž
How and were can i order the sewing machine and the zigzag also and how mush i want this brand ,thank you
Hello, do you advice me with this serger from brothers ?
Does the brother sq9185 work when you press the button? I see the button on it but I don't see you use @@
I have the same sewing machine! Serger is next
Love it! It's time to TWERK! :)
can we stich normally in the serging machine?
Mashallah, great video sister :)
Great video
Thanks! Glad you liked it! â€ïž
Do you know a tutorial for threading a serger or will you do one because I have one and I'm afraid to touch it lolbvs. Thanks in advance
5:10 !!so so beautiful!!
How can I get this two machines
I LOVE LAMP!
I found out that my Brother sewing machine just like yours actually have a seam serger on it. You have to play with the stitches to find it. I forgot which one... But I believe it's on the 3rd row below that actually shows you the foot that is a seam serger. you have to play with the stitches to find it. Oh really your computer Brother sewing machine basically has it you just got to find the right foot and play with your stitches get to know your machine.
I love lamp
Name and price this machines and serjer plzzz mdm
Are you still using the same sewing machine and serger? I am a beginner and I am looking for sewing machines and sergers.
