Still the greatest documentary made. I couldn’t manage this no matter what extra help I had, couldn’t even do it on a dirt bike
I couldn't do it on an electric bike, drafting a car!
Doping aside - this is a great cycling vid! Good motivation to train.
That’s why I’m here, been looking for a while and only just thought of CZcams. I used to throw this in the VCR when I was only the stationary trainer at home and couldn’t get on the road. A+
I love the intro so much!!!
this was the most fun of cycling days
***** this was the most sad and horrific of cycling days. And it's coming back now. It's all a circus.
MrBolaextra What makes you think the days of drugs are coming back? Because only Quintana can compete with the leader? I kind of agree...
MrBolaextra I do not know what you are talking about. Travis Tygart ended sports doping, when he gave Armstrong the lifetime ban. Cycling is A-OK now. Lance framed Tom DANIELSON LAST WEEK THOUGH.
+MrBolaextra It's coming back??? It never ended. Maybe the dosages have changed, but it's there.
+Fred Taylor that's so naive. The drugs and methods are different but there is still doping one way or another at all sports.
Used to watch this repeatedly when it first came out. There wasn't much English speaking stuff about then. No CZcams or insta! Great memories
You tactics and preparation and the general mood of races in this video...drugs or no drugs. Good stuff!
Still Here.... #Legend 🏴☠️
This is gold, Thank you!
I forgot! I'm in the video at 2:56 running with the USA flag around my neck. One of the most fun days of my life!
Scott Fast that’s cool as bro 👍👍🏽👍🏻
@@mariamartins367 dont be such a jealous b*tch maria. The world needs less people like you.
That’s bad ass man
So you are one of those idiots
@@kivinprod Absolutely! Your jealousy is palpable and that’s ok! Crying in your basement is perfectly normal. Bye bye.
Last 20 secs of this film Lance puts it out there for the world to interpret. He knew he wouldn't get caught, why else would they leave it in the film ?!
"When the soup is good, all is good!" He must have had a nice mix of substances for that ride.
probably snorted the soup.
Brings memories back!
Love this documentary, so many amazing memories of the time.
I don't why but I still like this documentary even though I know much of its a fraud- it conveys the romance of the road, a journey that's somehow aspirational.
Fraud, but not fraud. LA wasn't laying around on a couch shooting PEDs and winning the TdF, he was out training his ass off while using PEDs and winning the TdF. Also, all the top competitors were using PEDs, so in a way it was a level playing field. SO ENJOY!
BillyBowlster
Get over it Francis.
People that don't know the sport think LA just threw his leg over a bike and won TDF's! Hmmm it doesn't quite work like that. Armstrong was a superbly conditioned athlete who was also gifted with a superior physiology. EPO was rife in the 90!s so he wasn't alone. Was Indurain clean?
Who says that? Never gets old!
Thank you! Someone who understands.
Those who have read Tyler Hamilton's book would know in 2001, Tyler had been cast out of the inner circle, and was actually in difficulties all year around. Seeing him at ease with his team mates is sort of surreal as you know he is actually suffering from being an outcast.
Read the book of Tyler Hamilton, "The Secret Race", you'll see who really Armstrong is and also that he's a hard worker, hands down.
Regardless of doping, Lance Armstrong revolutionized how the best pros ride today. Lower gear/higher cadence, relying more on cardiovascular strength than pure power (Jan Ulrich). Constantly spinning 100-110 while Jan is barely pushing past 80. Lower gearing and spinning is twice as efficient which is part of the reason he was so successful. EPO does however have a much better benefit for those who rely more on cardiovascular strength, which is why the argument that EPO responded to his body better is true. But that's not because he was born that way or had some type of bodily advantage that no one else had, it's because he trained and doped smarter than anyone else. Would you say that's cheating? I would personally compare it on a smaller scale to someone who lifts weights....do you drink your protein shake before or after? How much do you drink so that you're not getting to little so you don't gain muscle or to much so that it gets stored as fat? Or what about coffee, do you drink your coffee in the morning before work or the second you get home from work? Basically the entire point that I'm trying to make is that you need to recognize the effects of drugs and utilize them to provide the most dramatic increase in performance (yes I know protein isn't a drug). This is what exactly Lance and his doctor's did. They utilized the effects of EPO and incorporated it into his training/riding style in the most effective way.
Look at the best climbers today, not as fast as Lance but they're still all spinning the shit out their gears. (and probably still taking EPO, test, transfusions and other drugs on a smaller scale).
I still love Lance, it's been very hard for me to rip my childhood idol's poster down in my room. Sorry about my rant
Quintana is one of the best climbers and he didn't spin.
why remove the poster? keep it with a middle finger poster on its side for anybody who passes a negative look when they see it
@@jorgeeduardozamoraacosta8627 He is super light and puts out low power so you can grind a bit. The more power you put out the more cadence you need so you dont produce excess fatigue metabolites.
Lance Armstrong - Dope to Paris
Who says that? won 7 tour de frances... fucking motivation
It's crazy how they can have a casual conversation pushing 4 watts/kg like it's nothing.
spot on dude...!
Yes, running your template again and again.
Still the best
"There is no way you can ride." - "Who says that?"
damn right!
Regardless. Still THE champ
Still a beast no matter how many lies he tells.
If you wish to be out front then lie, cheat and become a monster.
The funny thing is the bad thing about armstrongs not the drugs its the way he attacked people who got in his way to win and in terms of his image. Hes certaintly got sociopathic qualities about him but would imagine in a convo would be a laugh.
You are right about the last part.
Great doco. I knew even back then Lance was on the hot sauce but I loved this doco
Doping or not
Lance are still the greatest.
Everyone took it
😆😆😆
Idiot
pantani was the greatest rider of this generation
Nice insight
He is still a legend and an inspiration to a lot of people.
Lance o melhor atleta e estrategista da história do tour de France
In spite of it all, it is the effort that counts.
Yeah the effort put into the drug bags.
John G yep, he put a lot of effort in his workouts, even being under effect. Total cheating would be having an engine on his bike, letting him just fake pedaling . hehehehe.

he still came back from cancer and the whole podium was found doing it thats why they cant gv 2nd or 3rd or 4th place lances wins
The greatest champion ever Lance Armstrong. True legend.
i agree!!
Non faux
DOPER CAUGHT!"!!!!!
George us a total legend
U so right
I've watched this twice. Very Good
But... Currently I am reading The Secret Race and then Wheelmen.
It will be interesting to watch a third time
Everyone cheats at the top, period, in all sports, its business
Damn right. Money corrupts in every sport.
They have no business being involved in the sport then.
So true... that's the real world
But not everyone attacks the people who tell the truth and slander innocents.
Muppet
Agreed.
His increase in strength and stamina into his 30's was likely a factor in the suspicions by the regulators.
I'm amazed at how many either know or believe that doping is commonplace in cycling, and it's only the most clever that get away with it.
George Hincapie is a humble guy
Love the Lao tzu quote daoist!
This is so dope!
hello to one who is watching in 2013
Muy bueno.The best
this dawg is dope
What’s the music at the start and of film ??? When soup is all is good 👍👍👍🚵🏽🚵🏽🚵🏽🚵🏽
Yes! Blood work perfect.
I know very little about cycling. Once the Armstrong scandal came to light I became interested in the sport itself and read about other cyclists and their experiences. Cycling is a difficult sport, I cannot fathom riding one day in rain, mud, and cold let alone three weeks . I don't have strong feelings one way or another about LA. Yet I find him fascinating in that he understood the combination of specialized training and PED's and was willing to cross many lines to win. Lance did not achieve this alone. Seems there was much corruption up and down the line and he knew how to use this to his advantage. What is most distasteful and ugly about Lance Armstrong is what he did to other people to achieve those wins. The destruction of other people lives is about as low as you get. If that was not a factor I don't think there would be so much controversy in my opinion. I do not think he "ruined" the sport as I read in other posts. It takes more than one and an entire apparatus for this to happen. This--from someone who knows nothing about cycling and looking at it from a neophyte's perspective.
Could not have said it better.
Freddy Viaene...now there is the heart of cycling.
Cycling alone does NOT define Lance Armstrong; Lance Armstrong alone does NOT define cycling.
if u have a bike that weighs 7kg , and on the monday before you stayed in the hotel room on the second floor you find and eat a sports bar containing no msg , how much many more refreshed r u?
10:12 anyone know where I can get those water bottles?
Or the name of it
Every single word he utters is pure venom on my ears.
Does anyone know the opening credits music?
Your sense of humor is certainly intact.
I'm hoping the DVD with the bonus features covers Hamilton's exclusion from the doping programme? I remember watching this without a skeptical eye.....
a lot of manufacturers made money during lance's reign, they should contribute to the legal fees that armstrong will encounter
Anybody know the name of the track at 36.26 please?
i like the music its cool do you know the songs ?
Posibilidad de conseguirla con subititulos en español?
Esta disponible con subtitulo en español????
anyone know who does the title music?
to all haters: hes the best cycler of all time. do what he did then talk
Exactly
Yes he was. However, he was also, and this cannot be denied, the biggest duschbag ever. Choose your idols carefully. Or just be American and wrap yourself in your blanket of fake patriotism.
Anyone know the song at beginning and end
I really miss these years of cycling and I miss Lance Armstrong. Doper or not, he had to rode those 7TDF victories and climb those steep mountains.
I still have the exact same bike that he trains with (TREK 5200 USPS) with the awesome US flag scheme.
Viva la Tour - Viva la Lance Armstrong!
"Road to Paris is a 2001 documentary film showing the preparation of Lance Armstrong..." Not quite!!!
He was my hero
title of music starting at 1:33 ?
Sure they took drugs, just look what they had to go through. 90% is still down to training and desire to win though.
lets all do drugs then. dick
you've got it backwards nick
Your another complete loser
If all cyclists used drugs it would still not be an even playing field. A persons hematocrit is the % of red blood cells in their blood. An average male has a hematocrit of 45. A haematocrit below 40 could be an indication of anemia where a high hematocrit could indicate congenital heart disease. Lance's was 38-41 unusually low for a pro cyclist. You must have a low hematocrit to use EPO or blood dope as (1) It will be more detectable as the UCI hematocrit limit is 50. (2) a high hematocrit may cause death as the blood becomes so viscous with an increase of red blood cells. This increased blood viscosity and decreased cardiac output and blood flow has caused the heart attacks and strokes of many athletes that have abused EPO in the past.
Any idea what the song at 1:30 is?
yeah he took PEDS but they don't automatically give you huge muscles and amazing power. they give you the capacity to push yourself harder and therefore create those things. he still put in just as hard work as anybody else, this video shows it. he beat cancer, he saved peoples life with the work he has done. he is still a role model and someone who worked hard to become the best
He didn't get caught because cycling officials didn't want to catch him. They condoned doping for decades, simply because it made no sense to even attempt to eradicate something that was so ingrained in the sport. Add to this the fact that Armstrong's historic and dramatic dominance of a level - albeit doped - playing field was elevating the popularity of the Tour and professional cycling itself to an unprecedented level.
Começinho ÉPICO !! ''Who says that'' ?!?!
"the only thing we've taken is a bunch...a bunch of hard work"
He won't, because he testified under oath and people who claimed he doped were sued for defamation. He will face perjury charges!
EPO !!!
Lance's "planning and preparation" took place mainly in the lab.
Interesting documentary about zero times TDF winner team. It was 2001, the EPO Wins Era, before Blood Transfusion Wins Era....
Your exactly right. It's not like they won every stage either. Their team tactics were slightly better then the rest thus their times were better.
The majority of the top riders dope. They just don't get caught. If you were in his position you would dope too.
dope
anyone know the song at 2:00?
what is song please 32.29 min
Its quite sad watching this in light of what we now know.
Is there another part to this?
The best rider to have walked the face of earth.
Armstrong came to the finish line when the nose breath !!))
It upsets me that sports have gotten to the point where honesty has vanished and the urge to win has overcome the urge to compete. As a kid, Lance was a hero of mine, also being from Texas. My dad used to see Lance training out in Hutto and Manor all the time and I always thought that was the coolest thing. While it is unfortunate that he was doping after all, it is probably safe to say that the next 99 competitors were doping too. Similar to bodybuilding, it has become a part of the "competition". That being said, talk all the shit you want about Lance. He overcame fucking cancer and if everyone had not been taking PEDs, I have no doubt he would have still won many races. It was his drive and ambition that propelled him past his competitors, not the PEDs. (I still don't support PEDs)
they didn't show the epo injections
Froome is the new Lance, Sky the new US Postal team
Everyone posts comments saying he cheated he doped, but it doesn't mean he didn't train his ass off harder than anyone could imagine drugs or no drug still a phenomenal cyclist end of....
lance armstrong is still the best...a good cyclist
I read his book...famous life...Lance is the best one!
Road to Paris... VIA DOPING
Lance = legend.
