    The valve cover update usually fixes these. They love to leak out of the oil cooler/block off plate gasket also, as well as rear main seal and cam sensor. If you do end up doing a rear main seal follow the housing alignment procedure very well and it’ll stay dry another 150,000+ miles.

    Hope it works! If you still have any issues, MMO the motor. It freed up my oil control rings and the piston drain holes. Literally no oil consumption now. It is such a relief to not have to check the oil constantly.

    The RANGE AFM delete will help out a lot. I have a 2006 GMC yukon with the 5.3 (pre afm) with the original valve cover and I have zero oil consumption issues with that motor. My very low mileage 2006 Monte Carlo SS with the 5.3 has oil consumption issues b/c of the AFM crap, but I have only put 26K miles on it since I bought it new in 2006. I have a 2018 6.2 Sierra and put the RANGE in it from the first week of ownership. I'm very happy with it and have never had battery drainage issues; even if the truck sits for a week or more.

    I hear a lot of Dorman bashing on youtube but the last few Dorman parts I got for my old Focus have been quality pieces. One was the ignition lock cylinder and the other was the connector for the coil pack. For an 03 Focus sometimes Dorman is all you find. I don't know why all the Dorman hate out there. Hope those parts solve your issue.

    • @SALEEN961
      @SALEEN961 Před 2 lety +1

      They can be really hit and miss, I've personally installed Dorman exhaust manifolds that cracked within 2000 miles. When we contacted Dorman it turned out that we got manifolds from a bad batch that were made from the wrong material and never recalled. I've also installed one of their fuel line kits that would up being about 6" too long to fit the vehicle properly.
      They make plenty of good parts, and even I installed some of their control arm bushings yesterday, but I'm always a little skeptical of their parts because I've been burned by them many times over my career. You just have to be careful about what you buy from them and consider how much labor it will take to replace the part if it fails prematurely, sometimes it's just not worth the risk.

    BMW has an inline 6 they use on their top of the line sport tourer mototrcycle with some oil consumption issues.
    After a lot of research and getting feedback from various owners, the primary culprits for it are top end issues that BMW will deny till they are blue in the face about until you prove it. BMW will even try to say .5 to 1 litre of oil missing every 1500 miles is normal and within specification.

    Hey will you Consider doing a PCV fixed Valve Cover for the 4.6L? Idk if they even make them, But on my 2002 F150 4.6L there is absolutely No Baffle Plate in the Valve cover so it literally Sucks tons of Oil into the PCV line even after i replaced the PCV valve i can literally see the Camshaft when i look down the PCV Hole in the Valve Cover, meaning Oil is always flinging up to the PCV.
