- FanBolt recently visited the set of The Vampire Diaries, and we asked Ian Somerhalder who was the healthiest relationship that Damon has had on the show? Elena or Bonnie? Ian explains his answer.

Thank god Ian has been paying attention, honestly he's been talking about Bamon for three years now. But at this point I think the main reasons he pushing so much lately is because he doesn't want to shoot with Nina as much anymore.
I have to disagree...Ian is a professional and as such he would not let his personal feeling interfere with his work...before beginning a relationship with Nina he knew the risks....I feel that he is pushing for Bamon because he genuinely feels that it would be interesting 4 the show....and good for his character....it is a side a Damon that deserves to be explored.....+ he would get to work more with his bff Kat Graham
The fact that Ian understands why Damon and Bonnie works but the writers are too focused on a relationship that did nothing but ruined this show is sad.
bro damon & elena are the prime reason the show was so popular, and what keeps people coming back ten years to watch it wytb 'it ruined the show'. yes it was imperfect but that's what made it so good- it made the show.

The only couple I'm shipping right now is steroline. I used to ship Bamon out the ads but the writers literally take every bamon moment and make it about delena like in season 5 when Damon found out that Bonnie had died . I was waiting to see his reaction due to all the recent bonding in season 4 and all we got was home worrying about how Bonnies death will affect Elena or When Damon and Elena were talking about what him and Bonnie were doing on the other side and he implied that all they talked about was Elena.
I probably would like Delena more if Damon was the one that lost his memories not Elena and Elena had to win him back. Damon's always putting himself out on the line for her I want to see her do it for him.

Okay, I may start an arguement, but everyone please keep an open mind. I'm not on any shipping team or anything like that, but I do support a couple as long as they made sense. What I like about Damon and elena's storyline is a nice refresh storyline. I still believe that the writers can make them a really good couple, but they kind of screwed it up. Like in season four, instead of giving time for Elena to figure out her feelings with Damon, they added the sire bond storyline. (dumbest decision to be honest and no offense to the writers), then in season 5 they kept throwing drama after drama towards Damon and Elena that we couldn't keep up with it and couldn't get into the storyline. In so many ways, they kind of screwed up Elena's character that we don't feel the same connection when she was human. Like when Damon broke up with her in season 5, it was out of character for Elena to give up when normally she would be fighting for their relationship. For Damon and Bonnie, I love their storyline so far. I love their chemistry together and I love watching them bicker at each other. But I don't see them being a couple. I feel like Bonnie could make Damon better by being just friends with him, and they would have a unique friendship due to the things that they went through together from the other side. I always felt like if Damon would care more for people, he would become a much better person. With Elena, he learned it was okay to love an care again. With Bonnie, he can learn that it was okay to care for other people that doesn't have to be about Elena or Stefan.
True. I still having a little hope that they would bring back on why we love Damon and Elena since the first season. I don't exactly call a rekindle in the romance due to the fact that Elena don't remember anything about being in love with Damon. Lol. I felt bad for Damon about that. At this point, Elena either do fall in love with Damon again or she don't. It's hard to tell at this point. As for Damon and Bonnie, I know it's a possibility that they could be more than friends, the problem is, I don't like it when T.V shows that last so long like TVD, that just put two main characters that been on the show for so long that they made into a couple. Like Stefan and Caroline for example. I know they can make something else entirely with Damon and Bonnie that doesn't have to be a romantic storyline. I have to be honest, Bonnie is probably my favorite characters. It really doesn't seems like Bonnie to be that kind of person that would fall in love with her best friend's boyfriend, even though Elena don't remember being in love with him. That kind of would take out the loyalty that she has for Elena and Jeremy.

Sarah Nyenke Delena was better as a will they won't they thing. It was a sexual relationship, Damon is the kind of guy you get out of your system but you can't see yourself in a relationship with. And if you do then you like the idea of it
Damon tell the writers, man. TELL them Delena needs to switch to Bamon.
BAMON NEEDS TO HAPPEN. DELENA NEEDS TO GO. Right now I'm done watching the show until I see on Twitter or Instagram Bamon is happening....Also because Steroline is happening and not Stelena.
We're in the same boat in regards of Stefan & Elena. They were the best part of "The Vampire Diaries". The creators have them holding hands in the "Season 6" poster for a reason. We just have to find out what that reason is.
There was only one person that I truly wanted to be with Damon:
Rose Marie | This beautiful character came to us in "Season 2". When we first met her, she was no different than Katherine. She was hellbent on doing whatever it took to get her freedom from Klaus. In her final episodes, she made a complete 180. She went from being an enemy to a protector. At the end of the day, Rose didn't give a damn about her freedom. Plus, she had a huge impact on Damon:
Damon was free to be himself whenever he was around Rose:
The reason why Damon is so aggressive & violent, is because, people are always stripping him of his free will. Rose never did that to him. Damon was slowly starting to come out of his shell & grow into a more sympathetic character. In the episode "By The Light of the Moon", Damon apologized to Rose for the attack. Jules attacked the boarding house because Damon had threatened her. Rose willingly took the fall for him & Damon knew that he owed it to her to apologize. He was such a gentleman about it too. He got her a glass, poured her a drink & said "I'm sorry." What I was seeing was true character growth.
After losing everybody she loved, Rose kept her humanity:
When you spend time with a vampire, who is determined to fight for their humanity after losing everything, that changes you. In "The Descent" we finally discovered the reason why Rose kept her humanity: she never wanted to take human life. When Rose saw the body of a girl that she had murdered, she was praying for death. The look on Damon's face was priceless.
What Damon did for Rose in her final moments, was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen him do. Right before Damon told Elena to leave, Rose revealed that the happiest days in her life, was when she was growing up in England & how badly she wanted to go home. When Damon gave Rose her last wish, by sending her back & letting her be in the sun, I cried so hard. What Damon did for her, had nothing to do with him & had everything to do with Rose.
They should have been together. Their relationship would have been beautiful & cause Damon to actually GROW. Not this leash called Elena that stops him from doing horrible things & pretend that it's growth. It is not growth. It is pretending. Rose definitely would have ended the love triangle.
P.S.: Despite his feelings for Elena, Damon never told her about what he did for Rose. She didn't find out until "Season 3". That should tell people something.

The true is that, yes Ian told that the relationship with Bonnie is healthier for Damon and maybe better for Damon, but it doesn't mean, that he will choose and wants her insteaf of Elena.

it's sad that Ian says bonnie just because of his relationship with Nina. If someone would ask this four years ago he will probably answer Elena, even if Damon and bonnie were best friend.

Je ne comprends pas du tout pourquoi les réalisateurs et les producteurs de vampires diaries étaient sévères sur le personnage de Bonnie et Ian le dit ça prouve que Ian n'était pas du tout d'accord sur cette façon de faire. J'admire Ian parce qu'il a défendu tout ce temps sa meilleure amie Kat c'est magnifique tout simplement. I don't agree with him on this one I think at this time him and Nina broke up and the fandom kept pressuring them to get back together so he wanted something to lean on which is understandable but I ship Selena all the way

Ian stayed the relationship with Bonnie was healthy for Damon as a person. He didn't ship Bamon. Bamon would make a good pair but wouldn't be worth what it costs. Bonnie was the only woman in the show who never swooned over any Salvatore brother. I would hate it if she too, fell for Damon. As if there are no men in the world other than those 2. Also, the show had almost no platonic friendships affecting the main storyline, till Bamon. We already had S-E-D for 3 seasons, another love triangle would've only made the show redundant. It would never have stepped out of teenage fantasies.
