The fact that Heatblur is making the F-4 makes me 1000x more excited to see where this module goes
Looking forward for a modern version of the plane (e.g AUP), it is really going to spice things up!
They did the F-14 incredible justice.
Beautiful module. I can't wait!
Heatblur?
1. It will be absolutely FANTASTIC!
2. More like 2034 though. (I kid I kid. But I’m *very* skeptical of it coming out this year. HB promised the tomcat every single year for like five years.)

Good to see the Phantom II getting some love in this game. My uncle flew Phantoms and used to joke with me that if you rotated the engines 90 degrees and flew the plane sideways it's aerodynamic properties wouldn't change at all, the Phantom doesn't generate lift to fly, it just screams so loud gravity can't object.
A friend of my Dad’s flew F4’s in Vietnam and likened it to “flying a brick.”
Saw one do a bunch of flybys live in an exhibition last year and holy shit was it fucking loud. One of the few jets we had to cover our ears for when it flew above.
Really satisfying though. 10/10 would go deaf again.
Laws of physics: you can't fly f4, you're too heavy
F4 phantom: hahaha engines go vroooom
'...in the words of Vietnam veteran pilot Dick Anderegg, provided "proof that if you put enough thrust behind a brick you can make it fly." '
Gravity: "no"
Phantom: (giggles in 17,844 lbf of thrust) 🤣
Those cinematics honestly deserve an Oscar. Every single one of them
Keep my wife's boyfriend's F-4 out yo fuckin mouth!

Fun fact. The man in this trailer is depicting the legendary f4 pilot Col Robin Olds (denoted by “Col Olds” on his helmet) whom served in both WW2 and Vietnam with a combined 17 air combat victories. He retired as a brigadier general and won numerous awards such as his 4x silver stars. Look him up!
I thought I was the only one who recognized that haha

@@philly-gh5cv it’s not a movie lmao
For a couple of years now, I’ve phantasized about Heatblur creating an F-4. It just made since, because the F-4 was designed around a two pilot crew, similar to the Tomcat. One big difference is that the E will have a stick in the back of course. But then I would think about all that they have in development and write off my prediction as wishful thinking.
When I heard the news today and watched this video, I had pulled in the driveway, sat in the car, and literally began sobbing. I know that it’s crazy, but my dad flew F-4s in Vietnam and loved the E so much. No, he worshipped it. He had been up North so many times and it always brought him and the rest of his flight home. I so wish that he was still here to experience this. I’d put the VR goggles on him, he would have been 89 this year, and watch him have his way with it. A few of his squadron mates are still around. I’m going to make it my mission to get them in the Heatblur Phantom.
Dear Dan, if we can help you with this endeavor in any kind of way, let us know. We hope we will do the memory of your dad and his peers justice with this module. Best regards from the Heatblur Team.
@@104thironmike4 Mike, thanks to you and the team! Is there an intention to also do a Navy version of the Phantom…or is that up in the air, far down the road…or are you maybe laying prep work for it as you develop the “E”?
Crazy to think that a Vietnam vet would be 89. I remember when most WWII vets weren't even that old.
Honestly please update us and if you made that idea a video I would certainly watch it
That is a great story, I’m sorry hear your dad isn’t around to enjoy this, but yeah maybe some of his squadron mates can check it out.
That’s awesome.
I showed this to my dad who's nearly 80 and used to RIO in Phantoms and Tomcats and this is the most fired up I've seen him in years. Thank you.
if I may give you one tip.. take him out for a flight in it, let him experience it again but this time in the safety of his home
I'd gladly come fly along you and your father to honor his memory
@@BelgianDneprGuy2003 I'm getting him set up to do a backseat flight in heatblur's tomcat model that's out now since the phantom isn't finished yet. There's a learning curve on my end too since I'm a civilian cargo pilot and aside of a decathlon about 10 years ago I've never really pulled serious g's but the flying is the easy part, right? Lol
After they released the CV-59 USS Forrestal, and now developing the F-4E and the A-6E, promising to do other F-4 models, its seems clear to me that Heatblur have a grand Vietnam Era plan in mind. Maybe they will even do a Vietnam map for all that. It goes without saying that all of those modules will be an instant buy for me. Can you guys even imagine that, flying the F-4J, A-6E and the community A-4E with your friends from aboard the USS Forrestal carrier? Thats a dream for us sim lovers, and a goldmine for Heatblur. Well, they can have my money!
@Random Pickle Other companies are already working on those.
There’s 2 Cold War servers that will go nuts over this 👍🏻🇺🇸
We need Midway class too!!!
When did they say they'd make other F-4 models?
Also there's like 4 carriers coming all of which are from the Forrestal class
Oh my god! Finally! Phantoms Phorever Baby!!!!
They used to have a terrific airshow where I grew up as a kid in the 1980's. For the Phantom's 25th anniversary they had over 100 aircraft from god knows how many different air forces on display. One F-4 pilot from some ANG unit (if memory serves) got a smidge too excited during his aerobatic display and did a supersonic pass at low altitude. Broke a whole bunch of windows, but put a helluva smile on a lot of young and old faces. Mine in particular. Man, I can't wait for this module to be released.
It's taken a bit but now the aircraft is right around the corner.
OH MY GOD EVERYONE ITS HAPPENING!!
We'll sure! Heatblur delivers!
We are so excited to see this coming to life. Congratulations to Nicholas and the HB team. The Phantom is going to be amazing. Many thanks and kind regards Nick
You guys did awesome at keeping the Heatblur info secret. This blew us all away and we’re all stoked to see you guys work together!
I could never work at ED or HB…I could never keep a secret like this for so bloody long!
Have I watched this every day for two weeks? Yes. Multiple times.
Heatblur does it again. One of the most coveted Cold War era jets in the hands of a studio renowned for producing incredibly details modules, this will be an exciting module. Good luck team, excited for your partnership with ED too, which is surely a nod to the tremendous work you've done in DCS already.
I've must've missed some news. What's going on between them and ED?
@@RealismFTW in the err, description "by Heatblur Simulations in partnership with Eagle Dynamics"
@@Pricklyhedgehog72 that's a pretty standard phrase used with most all third parties.
@J. Nelson I wonder though if it has more meaning in this instance, since Belsimtek was working on the F4, then became part of ED. Was there any salvage from the earlier project?
Planes like the F-22, F-16, SU-27, etc are great looking planes but the Phantom just looks mean. A junkyard Pitbull among showdogs.
I talked to a National Guard pilot who flew both the F-4 and F-15. He said that if he had to go into combat the F-15 no doubt. But for just flying he sad hands down the F-4 because it was such a visceral experience. He described as dating a beauty queen versus the plain looking nymphomaniac. You knew that everytime you got on the nympho you were going to leave with a grin.
How to tell if something makes you happy: You become emotionally compromised watching an announcement trailer.
This is *the most* awesome news for DCS thus far this year. For me, anyway. If anyone is going to pull this off right, it's Heatblur. Especially when they're partnered with none other than Eagle Dynamics themselves.
Great job on the epic trailer and I look forward to getting my hands on the Phantom as soon as it's released.
"If you had to do all of it again, change the design of the F-4..."
"No. I wouldn't change a thing..."

To be fair. I'm over the moon but I don't expect this until 2023 or even 2024. It always takes longer to get these complex models done than you originally expect.
Just paused at that point im grinning like a little kid.
@@QuietTiger1968 they’ve been working on it for years buddy. It’s coming this year, or at the very worst, early next year.
Oh yeah. I'm enjoying the hell out of the F-14, and I have the F-18 and F-16 as well...but I expect once the F-4 drops I'll spend every second learning it. Now somebody just needs to develop a MiG-17 to face it; we already have the MiG-19 and MiG-21.

Just wanted to say that this announcement just pushed me into the stratosphere of hype… I’ve been a phan since the late 80s and early 90s with the Atari ST game “Flight of the Intruder”. Flew the phantom then as a kid next to my dad. This is the culmination of my simflying career, and if this is done with all the lessons learned from JESTER straight out the box, I may actually never feel the need to buy another module again.
Until you get the A6E done. And the Draken. And now, thanks to the Viggen, the Lansen too.
Oh, and a Thud. And an A-1. And the English Electric Lightning.

I actually worked on this plane for years! Brute power!
My father was a USAF F-4 driver from 1967 until he retired in 1997, and I need to show him this because he is still absolutely in love with the F-4E. :) Too bad the upgrades proposed in the late 1970s and early 1980s were not implemented. These would have created the "super-phantom" with the engines from the Pratt & Whitney engines from the F15/16, and the F16's radar, as well as greatly updated avionics. ☺☺☺
Those projects were so great, Both Israeli and Boeing Super Phantoms, Unfortunately all of them has been stopped due McDonnell Douglas the company that had built F-4 about 20 years ago before this project were presenting F/A-18 Hornet to its costumers on that time, As what experts say both of this Phantoms' performance was same as Hornet and this was what could endanger F/A-18 sales and sadly this upgrading programs stopped by McDonnell but I don't understand one thing, Israelis just wanted to upgrade their own F-4Es and they never even thought about buying F/A-18s on that time, They even didn't got any suggestion from McDonnell to buy the Hornets but the company stopped this very cruelly.

Yeah I was thinking the same.
Thats what i thought too but ED supposedly was already well into development of the module last year. I think that's the point of the Heatblur collaboration.
And it here it is almost the end ‘22 , either delayed till 2045 or they’re going to drop a surprise for Christmas
October, 1986 Millington TN...six months before I was in high school. Now in was in A school turning up two J79s in a F4 retired from the fleet. One of the coolest moments in my life. The power of those engines were mind blowing for an 18 year old.

After 60 years of service, still a very beautiful plane.
I have always loved the F-4, ever since I first jumped in one of them back when I was 9 years old and ever since, I would see them fly everyday above my house and now I get to ride these birds.
I am so thankful that these amazing, spectacular, astonishing, majestic, phabulous, exceptional, wonderfully beautiful planes are still in service in my country!
It is amazing to see these beautiful old war-birds flying over half a century after their design was first developed, there is something to them that I can't describe that makes me feel in a unique way, they bring so much beauty and emotion.
I believe that fighter jets of that era are like Gibson and Fender guitars. The best ones were made in the 50's and 60's. There's something about that time period where excellence was just that much better.
I will always love these planes no matter how better and advanced the upcoming ones will be.

The JSDF (Japanese Self Defense Force) just retired their F-4Js and RF-4s after 50 years of service. They are being replaced by a plane that will never live up to its predecessor.
Man, i hope i can be an F-4 pilot one day. We still use them as bombers here in Türkiye and it's my biggest dream to be a Phantom Phlyer. Sadly, they will be pulled from service in 2030, and if i think about the 4 years at the Turkish Air Force Academy and the 2 extra years of training in İzmir.. i probably won't be able to finish my training by then. Man it's a great time to be a Vietnam era sim fan. F-4 , A-7, A-6 .......so stoked.
Favorite plane of all time. The thing is just beautiful. I was lucky enough to see a couple of the last Japanese F-4s fly around at Kadena a few years back, and it brought a tear to my eye when they finally retired. Can't wait to hop into the cockpit.
Growing up across river from US Naval Academy, I'd seen many years of Blue Angels shows, including the years they flew the F-4 Phantom and A-4 Skyhawk. I attended the Naval Academy Primary School, situated on what was the world's largest submarine communications station. My bus stop was outside the front door of the Naval Academy Chapel, where an F-4 and A-4 sat on display. We'd climb inside the engine cavity, wishing there were a way into the cockpit. And now I can OWN the cockpit :)
It's impossible to adequately convey the sound of Blue Angels in Phantoms, especially in full burner climbs, watching and listening from the middle of thousands of acres of flat terrain on the Chesapeake Bay. In grades 1-3 the school held graduations outdoors just before the Angels arrived. The thunder, the springtime fresh fragrance of jet exhaust settling around us........ great memories. The DCS Community A-4 at this point looks like steep learning curve as I'm trying to focus on the Apache, but also can't wait for the F-4 after having worked a decade with F-4 pilots and heard the accounts of such ridiculous power strapped to their backs :)
OMG! This trailer is of the best video clips I have seen in recent years! Amazing job!
