When I try this with Mac Mail though, and delete the email that was read with Mac Mail,, somehow the Gmail server never gets the message to delete that email, and then it ends up repeatedly going to the MacMail client. It's annoying, and it really bothers me that I can't. get it to work. no matter how much hair I pull out.

Solution 1: Change Your Gmail Account’s Security Settings
At times your Google security features can prevent your mail app from working as sometimes webmail providers are wrongly considered to be less secure by virtuous security programs.
Solution 2: Set Up Your Email Account Using IMAP
