    Great info here. Your rite shock/spring up grades are amazing. Well worth the price!

  • @troy9er

    It was the same on my 97 Valkyrie. I switched to Progressive rear shock/spring combo and it made it a whole new bike. The ride was so improved it was like a night and day difference.

      It's amazing how a little change can make the bike fell completely different.

    i have the elka stage 2 on both front and back on my F3. I love it! works very well with 2 up. but honestly even if just you ride you will see a very nice difference.

      I feel that is the best shock for the back of the F3. The factory shock is a joke and the two up shock is just slightly better. Ride safe

    I ride solo almost exclusively and am about 150#. I think the ride is OK and not worth the upgrade cost to me. Good video anyway. Ride safe!

      I think you are correct. The closer you you are to 200 plus thats when you have the issues. I had a guy comment he weighs 175 lb and he upgraded to the two up shock and it was too stiff for him. Thank you for watching and ride that spyder!

    I ride solo and have the ST-Ltd and haven't had any problems with the rear shock. Front shocks are the Fox adjustable and definitely no problem with them.

    • @spyderryder

      The ST-S the ST and the ST-LT us a different shock and it is a ton better the the F3. I never had an issue with the shock my ST-S. Ride safe

      Good Morning. I put the new shock on Friday night. Saturday The two of us did the ride for the fallen 7. 270 miles. I am very impressed with the new shock. Our combined weight is about 340 pounds. The ride was very smooth and my machine handled much better. I have had two days of riding solo. About 250 miles. I no longer experience rear end hop. It’s a huge improvement over the factory stuff. It was well worth the $600

    I'm upgrading to the 2 up suspension VERY shortly, even then 1 up I'm pushing its limits (tipping scales at (are you sitting down) almost 380lb), I've owned the 2015 F3 for about 3 weeks and have put 950+/- miles on it since buying, I have felt the occasional hard hit with a couple wheel scraping hits in bumps, as I have the Shad bags on order, and a LARGE Givi top box to mount, I'm hoping the 2 up suspension will give me a little more support for a while at least before looking more into the next stage.

    Interesting video. I remember when you upgraded the rear shock last year. Have you spoken to anyone regarding the stock self adjustable shock on the F3 limited?

    • @spyderryder

      The F3 and the F3S has a different rear shock and the F3 Ltd shock is not interchangeable.

    Simply change your spring you can thank me when you saved your money

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  Před 5 lety

      You could but you would still have a non adjustable rear shock. It would save a ton of money.

    when i first bought my F3S there was no 2 up shock and i am 325 and my GF maybe 165 i was lost didn't know what to do stock sucks .... so they made the 2 up and i ordered one soon as i could and now it's much better because my GF got her own F3 and i ride solo on a 2 up ( rated to 350 lbs) i guess if u think about it a husband around 200 and wife 140 or so the shock is right. think i need to check into a elka because i don't want to bottom out and i want softer ride i hope that would do it my old dealer told me ( u remember when u added the ron sway bar how much better the ride was i said yes he said doing better shocks are just as great and better ) i keep thinking i need a better seat but maybe that money spent on shocks would be better

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  Před 5 lety +1

      I can say this. They build the shock to your weight and how you ride. The 2 up is just ok for peoole are size but its old school. I dont think the wife will ride with me this year so one one year on the 2 up and then an upgrade to a better shock. I use an Air Hawk to help improve the factory seat works good for a hundred bucks

      @@spyderryder New to your channel and man I am enjoying it so much. I am going to purchase a 2021 Spyder RT Limited between now and mid May. This video was a god send because I have been really concerned with the suspension/shocks system for bigger riders. My wife and I will be 2 up 95% of the time we ride. The wife and I are right at max weight limit for the bike. I can only buy one bike because we plan to pull the unit behind our RV and also the wife won't ride alone on her own unit. Any advice you can share regarding the suspension/shock system and safety would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  Před 3 lety +1

      The RT is a lot different then my F3. The RT should have an adjustable rear air spring that will firm it up in the back for you. They make a ton of front end suspension upgrades like the Baja Ron front sway bar and links. That will make it corner better. They make the same Elka shocks for the front that I have on the back of mine. The RT is an amazing bike good luck on the purchase.
      I hope one day to have a toy hauler for mine one day.

      The best thing to do is to ride one. Give it time to get use to how they handle before you buy any upgrades. The spyder is amazing and good luck with your purchase.

    No gloves & jacket ... It must be getting hotter over your way now!! I weigh around 190lbs so I'm probably ok but if I take my partner out with me, I might have to think about getting the 2 up shock as well!! Another Great vlog mate 👍😆 Beanie

    • @spyderryder
      @spyderryder  Před 5 lety +1

      Its amazing how the Factory shock let's at rear tire bounce. You don't feel it when you're riding the spider it's when you're behind somebody that tire is in constant bounce. I would say Brian is about your weight and the shock couldn't hold that tire on the ground. Ride safe

    I noticed the rear shock on my f3 being soft the first week I had it. Elka stage 2 is what I bought. I’m 235 and the wife is 150. It rides much better but the bike still bottoms out on hard dips or rough railroad tracks. I got 10% off for a military discount

      you need to add more preload to the spring. this will allow the shock to carry more weight at normal ride hieght when you riding 2 up and eliminate the bottoming out..you should be able to adjust the rebound to better control the shock after compression so you're both comfortable..
