My solenoid was switching, but the track was not moving. A type of rivet is the pivot point for the movable track, and I deduced that it must be too tight. After oiling it and pressing on the rivet from the bottom side of the track, it seems to be working better. Videos describing basic maintenance and repairs are very helpful. Thank you.

That was wonderful. I used to have such problems with my old M track turnouts. Will certainly put your advice to good use.

Thanks, awesome & really useful video.
LED conversion would be handy, i'm short on power (too many points)
Is there a diode or something in points to convert 16vAC to DC? my set is old analog so yellow accessory wire i'm sure gives out 16vAC, not DC... (yes i can see where DC make sense in direction of point throw, i just didn't question how..)

Great comments and advice on the Marklin users forum!!! and a wonderful video. Question - I am in the midst of putting together a yard area - roundtable, etc. am doing this with K track versus M - the rest of my train set will be M.... I am in the process of purchasing the K track for the yard area - 22xx series is not a problem. Having said that, I have looked at the K switches - 2267, 2261, 2264 as well as 2271. I am inclined to get the 2271s and place the solenoid under the table - more prototypical. My question is do I have to use the 7549 solenoid or is there a more generic, prototypical (i.e. slower) and cheaper one to get.....? On the M solenoids - I am taking your comments, pix, and your video to heart. Many thanks.... Chuck

Hi and thank you for this tutorial.
I'm putting together an old m-track layout and found that some points tend to have the light switch on once connecting the two blue wires to the control box, and the point hums continuesly and remains stuck.
    Whats usually causes this?

Even if they work properly they’re still inferior to c track.
