- Walter Jones played the legendary Mighty Morphin Black Power Ranger aka Zack Taylor. Through the years, he would perfect his fighting style with his dance moves calling it Hip Hop Kido and helped his fellow Power Rangers friends battle Rita Repulsa and her forces of evil. Before Tommy Oliver played by Jason David Frank, he would be Austin St John or Jason's right hand man. He would later leave the mantle to Adam Park but would return as a morphed cameo in Power Rangers Super Megaforce Legendary Battle and Power Rangers Beast Morphers Grid Connection. He will also fully return in the 30th Anniversary Reunion of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to help the Cosmic Fury team defeat Lord Zedd!

He was the 1st black super hero I ever saw on TV when I was a kid. And when they gave him episodes to shine he really went hard. And then I watched him on space cases and enjoyed his leadership role in a very interesting show for its time. Been a fan of his since I was a lil kid.
Zack was arguably my fave, My name is Tommy, and I had a huge crush on Kimberly, so it was hard to not love Tommy the most lol.. but Zack was the best. The original team is the POWER RANGERS, I was obsessed as a kid, everything after was, and is w.e to me.

2 things first I love Zach he one or my fave rangers . An 2 I never really saw the power rangers as super heroâs to be honest always saw them as something separate.

@@BMW9661 Cause there's been other videos showing JDFs daughter claiming she would gladly pick up her fathers role as the Green Ranger and it's something that many others agree that she is likely the best person to pick up the role. She does have the physical skills that's needed to act as the Ranger. It's either her or some random person there has no connection with JDF. As for the "Tommy not being part of the episodes" no comment since I've heard nothing confirming or denying that bit.

The best pick would be an actor that loved the Green Ranger and the show and knows the material well.
If his daughter can find passion it it as an honor to her father that would be awesome too. But I heard she wasnt even interested in Power Rangers. But maybe that changed

I'm so glad so many of them are coming back. I'm sure this was planned for a while but so soon after Jason David Frank passed away feels like they're all really trying to live on a legacy.

@@DrToker i dont like this, she was never interested in power rangers when you watch his mymorphinglife videos. she didnt have the same interest in the shows or his acting as we did as fans growing up. so for her to try to do something with power rangers now and try to take over her fathers characters just seems off putting to me because her acting career never really took off and jdf isnt around to help her out. so to me it seems like she is trying to play off his fandom. if she wants to do it for her own reasons and not to play off her father thats cool, try to create something new rather than play off something old.
A completely uncharitable take ? you have no idea what relationship his daughter and he shared. She may not have been a power rangers fan at all but she lost her father where Power rangers was a huge part of his life and perhaps that is something that she wanted to do for him after his death. Maybe she actually was a huge power rangers fan but never wanted to step into the realm and wanted a career elsewhere away from her fathers spotlight. A plethora of reasons but instead you choose the most uncharitable version with no evidence to suggest otherwise.

Atleast they aren't forgetting the one ranger who has been gone for years thuy Trang, hopefully this special will give respect and a solid farewell to both Jason and Thuy.
Nobody has forgotten about her, only the people who haven't watched the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers or just didn't cared enough about her did.
To be fair her death was sadly a quiet one as the news about her passing didn't made it viral enough so some people might genuinely not have known about her passing.
And remember when they did the Power Rangers dirty and the Black, Red, and Yellow Ranger got replaced because they weren't getting paid enough to do those risky stunts.
Once she was gone from the show, she really wasn't talked about much but as time goes on, we now have videos about her to keep her memories alive.
The "first Black Ranger" in both senses of the word. Dude is a legend and the ONE person I wanted to see coming back to the suit. Can't wait!

@@gerardohernandezjr7297 I thought that was a completely new IP *based* on Power Rangers. Also, I'm pretty sure that movie is wrapped up. I think we'll still see it. No doubt they will release it as a tribute to his memory.
I love Zack , he meant so much to me growing up and he was the cool one that could dance. I loved his Afrocentric outfits too.

My family in the 80s and 90s wore alot of Afrocentric outfits. It was the third time i remember someone dressing close to me outside of "A Different World." and "Cosby show".
And you gotta remember they used to do many of their own stunts, so I didn't realize it as a kid, but since suited scenes were many times the original cast, it somehow increased immersion and believability in the story. After watching a video from the original red ranger describing his casting experience, I have no doubt Walter had a ton of athletic prowess and martial arts capabilities in order to be selected for the role. And you see that eschewed in fight scenes. A LEGEND, THE ORIGINAL BLACK RANGER, MASTODON!!
Walter basically invented hip hop kido during his interview and that was how he get the job.

Everyone on the show in the main cast was some kind of martial artist or gymnast. Though the only stunts they actually did of their own was some of the unmorphed stuff, in the early days of the show all of the suit stuff was stock footage from zyuranger, and later on, they used stunt doubles inside of the suits.
You do know the scenes from Power Rangers are from a Japanese show right?

@@JazneoGaming My lifelong mentor and close friend whoâs like an uncle to me is over 60 but looks 40. Heâs black and still has such beautiful, youthful skin and athleticism (heâs been a dancer and professional trainer for 30 years).

Tommy was always my favorite as a kid, but Zach was my next favroite. He had such swagger and was so cool, his ranger outfit was also my favorite desgin from MMPR
I'm so stoked to see my boy back as the Black ranger. Our first black superhero. Now I'm hoping that he expounds on this hip hop kido bring it back out again maybe some workout videos perhaps that would be dope.
I never had favorite ranger because they were all so diverse. But Zack was always stood out. Alway though him or Tommy should have had there own show something
I remember meeting Walter Jones at a comic con. Him and Zack and too different. He has music on and was dancing pretty much the whole time he was signing autographs. He was pretty cool

Walter Jones birthday was just last month. So excited to see him on the screen as a ranger again
I always wanted to meet Walter Jones. He always be the original Black Ranger to me. I also followed him on social media (IG). Its crazy that he havenât aged at all since MMPR. Iâm super excited that him and David Yost making a return. It Will interesting how they gonna introduced Trinaâs daughter and how is she becomes a ranger. Its going to be a full circle moment for me as a fan.

I met him at a comic con back in 2016. It was jarring at first because he (and the other rangers there) were so short. You have this image in your head as a kid, them being larger than life. Then nearly 30 years later I met them and was towering over them.

Zach is a skilled in hip kido which I have also adapted to because he is one of my favorite Power rangers and plus I he true and pure of heart both on the show and in reality...may the power protect him.

I'm happy to hear as many of the original crew will be back (I hope the original pink ranger returns too). I liked Zack the black ranger and I'm curious to see if they'll somehow work in the passing of the yellow and green rangers (I miss them both) into this next installment of the franchise. Ive been waiting for this since the day he left the show...My childhood has hit nostalgia overload.
His time may have been short on the show, but his time coincided with the only time Power Rangers was well and truly relevant in pop culture.
He was always my favourite.
It's good that Zack is back, in black, because he was my fav. original Power Ranger as a kid. I also like the nod to Trini, in the form of her daughter. It'd be interesting if Zack was her dad, because I always thought he & Trini should've dated. It's good to see Walter Jones getting work again, because the last time I remember seeing him (after leaving Power Rangers), was as a kid on Space Cases.

I met him when I was a kid and he was super cool and down to earth. I'm happy he's returning!
I don't know about the others from my generation, but as soon as those 3 original Power Rangers left, I abandonned watching the show. I'm still amazed until this day to see how many shows they made after that since I completely lost track of that serie. I remember watching the first 1995 Power Rangers movie and that was all. Now aware those actors left because they were under paid and worked without any insurance and sometimes would do their own stunts. I can understand why they left, but I'm glad they did not left the fans and have kept contact with the MMPW fans. Sad that Jason David Frank is not gonna be there for the 30th anniversary, R.I.P. JDF.
I'm glad that they are getting justice for coming back, it's not even about the money at this point, it's about the legacy of being a Power Ranger and how much it means to adults teens and kids all over the world.
RIP though to Thuy Trang and Jason David Frank, both left us in tragic ways and hopefully there's a Power Ranger Hall of Fame.
And the adults who loved power rangers. Ive been watching the newest series with my son and I still enjoy the entire concept 20 odd years later

Yay! Finally, Walter Jones himself is returning as Zack. It's been great whenever Adam's returned and morphed into the black MMPR again. But at the same time, I've been like "Adam's great and all, but just for once, couldn't we see Walter Jones himself return as Zack and give us the Hip Hop Kido again? I didn't know she died until almost 3 years later. I remember back in 2004 I was talking about a reunion episode. That's when one of my friends said you know Trini died in a car accident. I was in disbelief since I heard nothing about it but social media wasn't around in 2001. Also she died close to when 911 happened so 911 hog up the news back then.
Billy and Zack back in full gear I have to watch this one. Wish Tommy could be a part of this too.

Really does hurt alot... seeing this or any Power Rangers. JDF passing was such a painful thing... I don't have the emotional capacity to live and JDF was one of those few who thought me how to live. Hearing the name Trini made me cry knowing how JDF left us makes me want to follow.

To be able to see Adam and Zack unmorph at the time would be fantastic. I know their characters met in MMPR season 2 but only in their morph state, this would be the first time they met face to face unmorph.

It is nice that most of the original 6, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have returned together for either a movie or TV series. It is too bad that it took the death of Tommy (JDF) for the show to finally get the original cast or maybe close to original together again.

Not what I heard. Zack Jones, Austin St. John and Thuy Trang were the only Power Rangers who stuck together and quit the show over payment issues while Jason David Frank, Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost worked out a "secret deal" to stay on. Each of those 3 people formed their own "cliques". I heard Zack Jones and Austin St. John were and still are very close. Maybe that's who you're thinking of. Austin's real name is also Jason.

I'm going to be honest. Looking back at 10 years of ranger cons... Most of his coworkers didn't really seem to like JDF/had a bad experience filming.
Dino Thunder is the one team where almost every single actor has quit the franchise. Trent's actor is really the only one who even bothers to show up (and aparently the only one without drama on set)
Even in interview panels, it's pretty much the same 3-4 people sitting beside him in every single interview and none of the other actors even gave him the time of day.
Last time I saw this dude, I was in my room and a plumber came over. I overheard my uncle and the plumber talking about martial arts. Went into the living room and there he was, the OG black ranger, retired as a plumber. Lol random as fuhh.
