I want to learn Korean language
This worked for me with English and Japanese because those languages are easy to grasp/catch what they're saying, but Korean is much more difficult to learn just by listening. Some specific phrases or expressions are ok but any longer blablabla in Korean is really hard to decipher. The sounds are so similar, the words are long, and a lot of the same syllables are used over and over again but in different combinations. It all sounds like yeonggwangdunggungyangdanggwonmyeonggungbunheongdaeng.
I absolutely love how Korean sounds and flows but man is it easier to listen to the very "Tatta Ta. Tatta Da. Tatta Ta. Tatta Da." Japanese lol.
It's really interesting to hear your perceptions of the Korean language. I had a good laugh about your spelling out of what Korean sounds like to you! 😂 I'm curious what your native tongue is. I'm an American, and about mid-beginner phase with Korean. The more I learn, the more I realize how difficult Korean can be. But I love it so much, and the Korean people themselves, that I'm just going to keep studying it. But I'm retired and have plenty of time to study.
@@saradiego1 I'm a native Finnish/Swedish speaker, and speak 7 languages in total :) Korean has been the most difficult one for me (also my favorite!) but I'm getting quite comfortable with it. Wouldn't have gotten very far with just listening to kpop or podcasts though lol.... unlike English, which I learned from TV. 😂 What made you interested in Korean?

I used to be learning Japanese because it's easier to understand the words, but i stopped because of kanji and how you need it to read news, lyrics, subtitles etc. So i started to learn korean, because you can start to read anything after few minutes of learning the alphabet. But exactly, the main problem for me is how the language sounds. It's like you miss half of the sentence. But i rather be learning korean than learning multiple meanings and reading of almost every kanji.
@@palkopupa yeah I feel like japanese is much easier to understand as ik people who can speak it and they make jokes such as learning Japanese just from watching anime because they are so 'amazing', even I know a couple phrases and playful jokes in Japanese just from watching it being played out a couple times however some people take this too far and actually think they are Japanese just because they watch anime which I find quite funny. I am currently turning 15 next month and I was hoping you could enlighten me with what you think is the best approach to learning Korean because you sound pretty experienced with around 7 languages wow. I'm currently learning French since I was born and raised in England and they teach it in school so I speak English fluently some could say it's my main language however, my mother tongue is Arabic and I have always had a liking towards Hangeul which I only learned in like a day as it seems so simple yet complicated and ofc the culture of Koreans in general seems so hygeinic and calming from what I've seen, I'm hoping you could tell me what I should do after learning Hangeul and issues you have faced and if your wondering how many languages I speak I can speak Arabic, English and I'm pretty intermediate with French and just starting out on Korean 😅

I found the length of this video perfect any longer and the mental strain of trying to keep up gets to me. That being said i think having a mixture of long and short videos is smart since the more you understand the less effort it takes to watch.
I've not had the time to study since I started my business but I wholeheartedly approve this message. Watching tv shows and youtube videos in Korean helped me tremendously to understand the language. The video is very good, and the speed is perfect, I was able to read and listen at the same time which is fabulous.
Thank you for making this video. Your pronunciation was so clear that it made it easier for me to understand and comprehend the message. This type of audios help me to check my listening progress and I was able to understand everything without using the subtitles in English. ✨☺️ 정말 감사합니다.

I really enjoy these podcasts! The studying tipps have been very helpful and they are really easy to follow, especially with the possibility to read along while listening! And this short format is also really good to quickly listen to when you have a short break in school, work etc. :)
I listen to Korean content passively for hours and have seen my comprehension improve. I study when I can, but listening like a child would is effective.

This came at a good time. I'm also finding it hard to devote as much time as I would like but this has encouraged me. Any amount of time is good, even while eating a meal. I didn’t understand most of the words but just enough to get the main gist along with the words of encouragement. 파이팅!

I love to watch K-dramas and variety shows. And that's right it is not easy to learn as a language but I noticed that after a few months I could understand more and more things. I think it really helps to listen and watch in the language but you will definitely need to learn vocabulary and the different structures of sentence, especially long sentences (it really frustrates me when I can understand almost all the words but that I'm still unable to fully understand the meaning of the sentence.) My advice, if you allow me to share, is to learn vocabulary from every kind of resource and use My Weekly Korean Vocabulary book to learn some sentence structure and useful expressions.
I think that even if Korean is harder than many other languages it doesn't have to be a burden to study it like crazy then give up after a few weeks. So, listen and watch a lot of input (you don't have to be a fan of dramas, there are many Korean contents on CZcams, Instagram and so on), then review some vocabulary (just a few minutes a day, and you can still create your own flash cards with an app).

Edit: I was also surprised to realize that I knew more vocabulary than I thought, so it really helps to keep listening everyday. Reading is also good practice.

Yes I appreciate this encouragement to keep going. I’m a slow learner so I talked myself out of language studies for 3 decades. The trick I didn’t know back then was I needed to be passionate about what I was learning.
Now 2 years into Korean I’m probably only advanced beginner but all my daily Korean media intake has immensely improved my pronunciation. Picking out words and phrases I know as they are spoken is a major win each time. It’s the joy on this path that inspires me to stay on course.

I have been K-popper since 2011
but I have been studying Korean language only about 7 years (since 2017 May22).
I mean after being K-popper about 6 years, I started learning Korean language.
I have been listening to K-pop and also translating them into mother language , Burmese/Myanmar.
And so my learning Korean Language Journey is not still too difficult for me.
In conclusion, I have been studying Korean daily mostly by listening to K-pop, translating them into my mother language.
This was a great video thank you! I liked the length and I was surprised at how much I understood without reading along.

Thank you so much itvwas really helpful because I prefer studying with podcasts and I love the long ones . So could please talk about how to get the motivation to study regularly and how to make a good plan for studying korean .
I've been recently watching 뽀로로 as the language tends to be simple enough (since it's aimed at children) where I can understand around 60% of the dialogue. I usually watch it while cooking or a relaxing activity. I have the Korean subtitles turned on to help.
But my listening skills are horrendous. And still, I feel like my listening skills are starting to improve as time goes on. I'll even find the occasional word that I don't know and learn it.

Thank you for the tips. I haven’t been consistent for the last 2 months, but I do consume Korean content regularly through CZcams and reading tweets/SNS posts. I’m glad it has helped me stay in touch with the language and also helps me to read it a little quicker.

This text is an example of Korean which contains only a few words I recognize. I forgot that I watched this before. Last time, I tried to find simpler content in Korean, like Jadoo I think is the name, the Cartoon to teach Korean and English I think. I only watched it once. It seems need to study to a higher level. I’m taking so long. I started with participles. I guess it’s back to participles and vocabulary for awhile 😂😂 I truly appreciate all the people who give us information online to learn their language.
These videos are so helpful! This is a random idea but can you make a video about how to better read Korean handwriting? For example Korean letters!

Thank you for this! I used to study Korean during the pandemic lockdown but couldn’t continue after that…But I keep consuming korean content so I stay in touch and I was surprised to under about 80-90% of this video without subtitles! Also, this duration seemed perfect for me. Neither too short nor too long. However I have a question- even though I feel fairly comfortable understanding simple Korean conversations, is there a way in which I can practice being a part of these conversations too? Do you have any tips for practising spoken Korean if I don’t have much time?

This was excellent advice - I've barely begun to learn Korea but I listen to Kpop everyday and I do think it helps to pick things up 👍
I am at a point where videos like this are mostly comprehensible without subtitles if I focus, which I feel gives me the illusion of knowledge. The reality is if someone tries speaking to me, very quickly i realize i can't even reply in a very basic conversations. Certain endings i can recognize what they are doing when i see them but have no idea how to actually use them myself. I feel I have a very large gap between my passive and active vocabulary and grammar which has only minimally improved over the last year.

It's so easy to listen to the audio with the sub. Even without the sub, I seem to understand most of it. But when it comes to real life Korean talking, it's always out of this world 😢

For someone at a very very beginner stage where grammar, vocabulary and listening skills are very limited, we still very much have to hit the books and focus. The short 5 minutes is not enough for us :(. But I totally agree with having non zero days
Of course, for me, the top way to learn is to go there an immerse myself in Korean society, during my vacations. Second, is to chat with my Korean friends and strangers. Thirdly is to go through TTMIK books and I found myself stuck at reviewing the first 4 levels. While the other methods are giving me another stream of vocabulary input. But I don't stress over this since it's just a hobby for me.
저도 지금 영어와 한국어를 같이 배우고 있는데 한국어보다 영어가 더 중요해서 영어만 열심히 배우고 있는데 얼마나 시간 없어도 새벽에 일어나서 30분 정도 혼잣말 해봐요 .그리고 자유시간에 한국어 콘텐츠나 길거리 인터뷰를 많이 들어요.그래서 시간 돼서 공부할때마다 너무 힘들지않아요 ❤

I liked this shorter video very much. I still have to pause and read the Korean periodically, then check subtitles in places, so the longer videos are harder to get through. I'd love it if you made a video that was even shorter and simpler, so I could join all the people saying they understood 85% without subtitles. ㅎㅎㅎ I think I was more at the 50-60% level listening at full speed. ㅠㅠ 감사합니다!

Now, I wanna listen to something / Korean language while doing sit up exercise. It is too boring to just trying to count 100 sit ups (with the aid of a sit up equipment) and it is good to test my Korean listening while doing something else.
Sometimes, I do listen to TTMIK podcast grammar lessons whenever I commute to and fro work too. By doing so, I do not only revise what I have learnt but I feel like I am not wasting time by just standing or sitting in the bus or train doing nothing or wasting time on other social media platforms.
Not sure if there is any mistakes in my above Korean sentences though. I find Korean pronunciation the most difficult because of the sound change rules. Listening to more Korean native speakers talking and then double check the spelling / how to write the word is also a good way to check if I know the right pronunciation and right spelling or not.
Thank you for making such a Korean audio recording again. This level is easier than those bibimchat lessons. 😂 Appreciate all TTMIK teachers and staff’s hard work. ❤
This is the perfect level for me where I can mostly follow along without needing the transcript and do something else at the same time. I just wish it was available on other platforms like Spotify as well.
