Good points. For most use cases HD tubes are not the best choice (like big adv bikes). One consideration to add is changing tubes in the field, it’s easier to pinch regular tube during installation.

So it's Wedesday and put standard tube in. Because it is extreme heat in the tropics here..Added heat from a Heavy duty tube not welcome Also, I added a motion pro rim lock
Thanks for that advice. Also, vibration on handle bars?. I put the barkbuster handle bar weights on now..They look great and solve the vibration problem in stock handlebars. After I removed the original crf handlebar inserts. Also it is always hot here. The thought of foam grips makes me not wanting more heat to my hands. But I would take foam grips over vibrations. You have been so helpful. I have only had Yamaha and ktm supermoto bikes before. I'm too old to waste money, so watching u is helping heaps.. Thanks, mate.!

      Hi Alex
I agree. For most riders heavy duty tubes are not needed and rim locks is a good idea.
About the vibration I can definitely tell you that it is a big improvement to use foam grips… I’d say it is not reduced to zero.
I live in a cold environment but I don’t think your hands will be much hotter with the foam grips.
      Cheers

Thanks for the comment as always !
Haha the editing of the trip to Montenegro is taking me much longer than expected. I recorded far too much stuff and now I’m overwhelmed 😂.
Hopefully it will be out within the next 3 months.
      Cheers mate

Excellent content as always!...and of course it depends on the way we drive and where we do it...the front tire would also be the most logical for me although I was looking at the tubliss and it seems to me that that is to end all the concerns....Gracias Amigo!!!....Pura Vida!!!!

I have not riden with tubliss so far.
I’ve heard that tubliss is not suitable at all if you need to do highway riding.
My problem is that I always need to take highway to get to some nice off-road 😓.

Nice explanation, thanks. When riding to Mongolia I got spare front and rear HD tubes. Really heavy and bulky. Ended up using both of them but regular tubes would have been better.

On my last trip to Montenegro I had the HD installed on the front and carried a spare regular tube.
I agree with you. Spare tubes should be regular. It’s just too bulky otherwise.
Nice that you went to Mongolia! How long was the trip?

Hi Getting a new tyre on Wednesday. After watching this .I may not get the heavy tube. Most of the year, Temp ranges from 42 to 32 Celsius max temp, where I ride. I will do some more research, but i think I'll go take your advice . Put heavy duty on the front tyre only. Tyres give me a headache ha ha!.Great vid!

Hey Alex! How is it going?
This topic is somehow “controversial”. As I said it, if you ask 10 riders you will get 10 different answers.
Some swear by heavy duty tubes while others think is a waste of time 😂.
      Thanks as always for commenting!

Excellent video. I have found that I have an easier time installing a tire using a standard tube vs heavy duty. They seen to have less bulk in the way when you are trying to get the tire bead into the drop centre. Especially with a stiff tire like a D606. What has your experience been?

      Hi mate
Since trying the heavy duty tubes I have not yet had to change then with hand tools only…. Got no flats so far.
I’ve changed it using the Rabaconda tyre changer and i couldn’t notice any difference.
I can imagine that it makes it harder when changing it with hand tools.

Last year on the TED Bosnia-Montenegro-Albania-Greece I used a heavy duty tube on the rear, short we arrived our destination in Greece the tube died - gathered was no damage from outside - so I think it´s not worth the money - I ride about 30K Km on n ormal types without any issue.

Ohhh.. that’s pretty bad! Any idea how it happened? Was it due to abrasion?
