  • Joe shows what might be the Leatherman Arc’s fatal flaw. A gap in the hard wire cutters of this new for 2023 multitool seems to be a real dealbreaker at $230 USD price. It can’t even cut a coat hanger wire. Now that you’ve seen what 2023’s best multi-tool can do, what do you think?

Leatherman has a 25 year warrantee...if it's wrong sent them back. But like others have said, it's probably for stripping. Also. They're replacable. So if you want hardened cutters replace them.

  • @chriskerley9576

That's for wire stripping. It's the Leatherman.... "Arc" as in maybe suggesting some added electrical utility.

I have no opinion on whether this is a manufacturing defect, a design flaw, or just user error, but just wanted to say Ted Leo has been my favorite rock artist since 2004 and I was floored to hear Little Dawn in this short. I may or may not agree with your taste in tools, but I'm totally down with your impeccable taste in music 👍

  • @morganghetti

ITs a WIrE stRiPpEr!!! That all say without knowing what they are talking about.

Just remake the surge and wave with a super steel blade that is beefier. Guaranteed to be top sellers even more so.

  • @chris33pa

Would never pay that much for them

  • @rustyTrombone111

I always carry my p4 in my pocket everywhere

It's a flaw of a particular batch of cutters, not the tool itself. As such, it's an issue that can be found with any model with replaceable cutters. My brand new surge came with cutters with the exact same flaw, which is annoying, but not the end of the world since it gave me an excuse to mod some EOD cutters to fit (I have no need for hard wire cutting)

  • @bladetherapy3797

    Good to know, that sucks

  • @Thracianbeatscrixus

    fatal flaw 😂

I think the "gap " is called a wire stripper. Not used for cutting. Only stripping.

  • @gionevermind5490

The gap is a wire cutters meant for WIRES not hard wire like the hanger, you're suppose to use the tool on top of the gap to cut that kind of metal wire

  • @erikcho3353

Got my Arc yesterday, no gaps on mine. I am sure they'll replace yours asap.

If mine break, I’ll just swap them for the older style cutters. It’s a disposable part so I wouldn’t call it a ‘fatal’ flaw. I watched a video last night where the guy cut coat hangers again and again without issue. He also didn’t put them into the gap. It’s a pretty simple issue to resolve, and I’m sure leatherman will replace them.

Got Mine yesterday no gaps absolutely love this thing blade is incredible!!!

I don’t know. The Charge+ Ti has the same little gap, and it seems to me it’s meant to be a wire stripper (for better or worse). My Charge+ Ti still cuts like a beast, as long as the wire is centered on the cutters. It just is a bit annoying to take the time to line the wire up on the cutters, rather than being able to just push the wire all the way to the back of the pliers blindly. To each their own, but I believe a poor excuse for wire strippers is what Leatherman had intended with the gap. That’s just my guess.

  • @CesarGonzalez-sk1wq

You used one end of the hanger to stop the pliers from cutting all the way through. Nice try..

  • @killough71010

Have you tried swapping the Cutters from the P4 onto the arc? Maybe it's not the flaw of the plier head design, but just the batch of the cutters....

  • @larrya197140

Hey Ink! Just changed my p2 cutters to the Arc! No gap! Works perfectly! Thanks for pointing this out! Use the older cutters! Again thanks man.

  • @randomescu

I noticed the same problem on my newer black Surge. But its not as bad as on Arc because the Surge can cut hard wire behind the pliers head.
