This swarm of 10 autonomous drones can manoeuvre through a bamboo forest in China. They are the first to successfully fly outdoors and navigate unprogrammed obstacles, according to researchers at Zhejiang University who led the experiment.

That is both amazing and terrifying at the same time.
Yeah, imagine these drones with explosives attached, destroying targets kamikaze-style. You run into a dense forest, and they slowly advance on you, and all you hear behind you is the howling of their motors. That would be pretty plausible even with today's technology.
It's like one of the probe droid from star wars
@@johnnysun6495 I am just about to say that ..
Are they waterproof ???
Of course, it's terrifying when it's not from the US

I guess so.. scary i think. War in the future only robot vs robot.
An improved fast flying drone will be deadly and the propeller sound alone could inflict terror.

I have read this report somewhere else. These drones don't rely on internet connection, but process data on these drones themselves, which is why it made the front page of science magazines.
Slightly frightening
China has developed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that can fly both on land and in the air, which are being trained using AI technology
Why would they rely on an Internet connection?

Agree. All I see is how can this be use to tracks enemies in dense vegetation forest. Arm with heat seeking sensor camera you can scan for enemies hidden in the jungle.

Pretty sure ai will get the same regulation as biological, nuclear and chemical warfare. There will be limits that nations will all wish to keep to. Terrorism and intelligence service uses are another matter all together.
@昨日阿富汗,今日烏克蘭,明日台灣島,靠美國,得滅亡 Youre right. The western regime is evil and the aggressor. But just answer my question: How many of those wars started were from Jewish influence?
just strap explosive to the drone swarm and send them to enemy fortification or ruins in urban warfare. Instant win.
Could find a lost child.
I suppose this technology can be used to explore and map caves, terrians, and if made waterproof, can be used to map underground rivers, streams, sea floors.
There are also algorithmns for cave navigation like prim jarnik or djikstras algorithmns
Or a killing machine
They can also quickly localize targets hiding in buildings in urban environments
To map underwater, they would need to be far more than just waterproof. They would need different propulsion systems, but the guidance system could surely be retrofitted to avoid underwater obstacles.
This is going to be weaponised
i remember a drone being used for such in the movie Prometheus
