- The Austrian Alps hosted the fourth round of the UCI Mountain Bike Cross-Country World Cup. Catch up on the Leogang race action here - win.gs/UCILeogang2022
Loana Lecomte and Mathias Flückiger won the women's and men's race, repeating the result of the first race on this short track (XCC) circuit in 2021. There was just one climb on this XCC course, with riders going into it straight after passing the start. It was also mighty long compared to most XCC tracks on the World Cup circuit, which led to larger gaps forming between the riders than we normally see in XCC races.
Behind Lecomte, in the women's race, it was a second and third for Ghost Factory Team Racing team-mates Anne Terpstra and Caroline Bohe. Meanwhile, in the men's race, Vlad Dascălu recovered from a few handling mistakes that saw him drop back out of contention to finish second. Flückiger’s Swiss team-mate Vital Albin produced a major surprise by finishing third.
Mona Mitterwallner had a different kind of race. After getting tangled in a crash off the start line that saw her handlebars get stuck in a competitor's bike, those handlebars became twisted and unrideable. A dispirited Mitterwallner had to run with her bike on her shoulders to the first tech zone. When she set off again, she was dead last. With no real chance to get back to the front, she still kept pushing the pedals passing rider after rider, until she finally crossed the line in 15th.

wish someone would do a bit with the smaller teams and privateer riders who deserve a bit of support , they add so much to what mountain biking is all about ... these guys turn up and quite often drive themselves race to race for the love of the sport ...
It's a real pity to be without the Red Bull Crew next season. I'll miss Lauren, Rob and Elliot! You're doing a great job and it won't be the same without you.

@@jonnyrae9137 Nope. "The UCI has announced that from next year Discovery Sports will take over the organisation and promotion of UCI Mountain Bike World Cup for eight seasons, from 2023 to 2030."
@@R4MB4Z4MB4. I didn't know that. That's a shame. I think this was really good for the sport and the production quality was always top notch as well.
