  • Olivera is competing in UMK22 with her song Thank God I'm an Atheist. The song ponders death and the chance for an eternal life.
Olivera is an indie-pop artist with 4 Eps of her own. With over 10 million listens, No more is Olivera’s biggest song, but she also writes music for other artists. Perhaps the most famous of these is world-renowned DJ-producer Tiësto, whose song Affliction was written by Olivera, who also did the vocals on it.
UMK competition songs are published one at a time at midnight from 13 to 21 January in CZcams, Spotify and other music streaming services.
The winner and Finland's Eurovision representative will be selected at the UMK final on Saturday 26 February.

People saying "Thank who" jokes are just... Ugh. That is the WHOLE POINT OF THE SONG. It is meant to be lowkey ironic how she goes "Thank GOD I'm An Atheist" and yet doesn't believe into him or to ideal of afterlife.
As an Atheist myself, this song really hits home for me.

As an atheist, I have no problem with religious songs and they don't offend me in any way. In turn I can see that most of believers are offended by Olivera's song and my question is: why? Everyone has the right to believe what they want or not believe at all. Besides all of that, it's a really solid song!
    Good luck Olivera♡

As an agnostic who is struggling with anxiety, depression and OCD I can say that you guys do not even know how much this song means to me and many people around the globe. Finally someone sings about our feelings. Nobody wants to hurt you with your religion believes.
It is very scary to realize that one lives this life just to get another one. Non religious people may question this idea and when we have our hard times only we ourselves can help us to overcome those thoughts.

This might be completely off base but I feel like it takes a pretty simple or lazy person to believe in an afterlife, and not to just believe in it, but to be certain of it. Although it is also a pretty human thing to be scared of death and to want to deal with that fear in a way that seems rational if you don't think about it too hard.

I just don't get how this could be offensive. No one would bat an eye if there was a song called "Thank God I'm Religious". And the title of the song is clearly meant to be ironic, not offensive. The whole song depicts how she's happy with what she believes in and she finds meaningfulness in her beliefs and is satisfied, just like how a religious person finds peace in their religion. It's a double standard that it's fine for people to talk about how they're happy they're religious, but not okay if an atheist says they're happy they're an atheist.

No. There are already so many of those songs, even regular pop songs have religious references in them.

Really love the vibe and sound of this song, and the lyrics are super interesting. I'm an atheist too so a lot of them hit quite close to home, my favourite being "What's the point of it all if we only keep living this life to get another one", something I've always thought myself about religion.
I really don't think this song is meant to be offensive towards religious people, the lyrics are more philosophical than anything else and the title is just word play. Merely mentioning that she's an atheist doesn't mean she's being rude to religious people anymore than saying you believe in god is being rude to atheists.

And a meaning to life without God
My heaven is a state of mind
