People saying "Thank who" jokes are just... Ugh. That is the WHOLE POINT OF THE SONG. It is meant to be lowkey ironic how she goes "Thank GOD I'm An Atheist" and yet doesn't believe into him or to ideal of afterlife.
As an Atheist myself, this song really hits home for me.
someone's mad
Ok but thank who though?
I have to thank everyone here for the incredible and amazingly high quality conversation. 🙏🏼💜 It feels like this song really needed to come out.
Thank you! You have given a lot to think. When a song raises discussion, it has already earned its place, to be heard.
🧡🧡
Such a good song
You are AMAZING 🥺💜💜

As an atheist, I have no problem with religious songs and they don't offend me in any way. In turn I can see that most of believers are offended by Olivera's song and my question is: why? Everyone has the right to believe what they want or not believe at all. Besides all of that, it's a really solid song!
Good luck Olivera♡
well, Im an atheist, I sing and make music in church. Worst thing you can do is to make conflict between ppl.
just remeber that religious feelings DONT exist, like political feelings
Really!? Most of believers are offended by Olivera's song? How did you ended up to this conclusion? Please, stop the hate, spread instead love.
@@kattywall2801 I don't hate anyone. I wrote that everyone has the right to believe what they want
I just asked myself if songs that talk about religion, agnosticism or atheism can participate in Eurovision? As a believer I am not offended by Olivera's song
As an agnostic who is struggling with anxiety, depression and OCD I can say that you guys do not even know how much this song means to me and many people around the globe. Finally someone sings about our feelings. Nobody wants to hurt you with your religion believes.
It is very scary to realize that one lives this life just to get another one. Non religious people may question this idea and when we have our hard times only we ourselves can help us to overcome those thoughts.
nobody cares if some ones religious feelings are hurt, some ideas must be ridiculed, to make them less dangerous
This is the reason I make music. Thank you💜 I hope you all the best💜
@@oliveramusic Seeing you on UMK was a dream to me. Thanks for making it happen! Love from Turkey!
This might be completely off base but I feel like it takes a pretty simple or lazy person to believe in an afterlife, and not to just believe in it, but to be certain of it. Although it is also a pretty human thing to be scared of death and to want to deal with that fear in a way that seems rational if you don't think about it too hard.
Here here! Could not have put it better 🥰
I just don't get how this could be offensive. No one would bat an eye if there was a song called "Thank God I'm Religious". And the title of the song is clearly meant to be ironic, not offensive. The whole song depicts how she's happy with what she believes in and she finds meaningfulness in her beliefs and is satisfied, just like how a religious person finds peace in their religion. It's a double standard that it's fine for people to talk about how they're happy they're religious, but not okay if an atheist says they're happy they're an atheist.
I think this little "danger" is also the strenght of this one. I think those who are the most active in voting will like the lyrics (like with Blind Channel). - How beautifully said: heaven is a state of mind.
What Eurovision songs say ‘Thank God I’m Religious’????
I hate preachy songs which is why I don’t like this. I’m not religious though so def not offended I just don’t think it should be in Eurovision.
@@connorjohnnn I'm not saying there would be a Eurovision song called that, but I mean I don't really see this one being in Eurovision anyway. But as its own, it really isn't offensive. Switch the roles, make a song about how God is good and thank him in it, would it cause people to be offended? No. There are already so many of those songs, even regular pop songs have religious references in them.
@@sam_k Maybe I have a bad memory but I can’t think of any of these Eurovision songs about how God is good? Even Slovenia’s ‘Amen’ last year is just some generic wishy washy song about inner strength.
@@connorjohnnn Did you read my comment?
Kuulin tänään ensimmäistä kertaa tämän kappaleen 🇫🇮 Kuuntelukokemus muutti taianomaisesti päivän kulun maagisen syvälliseen suuntaan. Kiitos Olivera 💕 Toivottavasti voitat ☀️
Ihana kuulla, kiitos💜
people saying ‘thank who’ missed the point and think they’re being smart? 🤡💀
Who?
It's not mocking god if one wonders what is life and what is death and feels eternal life is not their choice / dream. This is touching and beautyfull song and lyrics are like a poem, there is no shallow here.
Really love the vibe and sound of this song, and the lyrics are super interesting. I'm an atheist too so a lot of them hit quite close to home, my favourite being "What's the point of it all if we only keep living this life to get another one", something I've always thought myself about religion.
I really don't think this song is meant to be offensive towards religious people, the lyrics are more philosophical than anything else and the title is just word play. Merely mentioning that she's an atheist doesn't mean she's being rude to religious people anymore than saying you believe in god is being rude to atheists.
Couldn't have said it better myself, I agree.
I can’t describe how good it feels getting to see your comments after keeping this song as a secret for so long. I’m so glad I had courage to release it. Thank you so much💜
Took the words out of my mouth🙌

I really REALLY hope Olivera is able to pull this off live and manages to win UMK.
@@its_elkku135 Mä todellakin toivon, ettei tommonen jumputtava RAM PAM voita.
Kiitos💜

Could do well with televote as well. Finnish televote loved Hungary 2007 for example. They have taste
Hoping not
@@ratyjoona well, I don’t think you need to worry about it winning UMK. The Rasmus will win the televote and overall.
@@mirroroffthewall5932 Hopefully even that instead of this one. But one cannot be too sure, as lot of people are disappointed with The Rasmus.
@@mirroroffthewall5932 I actually am split whether The Rasmus will win or if Bess could possibly pull out a win. I think it's more likely that The Rasmus will win but Ram Pam Pam is totally lighting up the charts in Finland. It clearly has popularity and it'll probably either finish first or second in my mind. The Rasmus hasn't had a chart hit in ages, but they'll obviously have a fanbase. I think it's harder to call than some people may think.
I don’t really care if this qualifies for Eurovision, the song is a masterpiece and way more important than a silly competition. Best thing I’ve heard in a long long time and very moving which is what the best music does. Congratulations for creating this, Olivera, you’ve already won ❤️

Yup, I thought that too and it made me think this song was gonna be tacky but it's actually quite artsy.
Nope.
I thought it would be a troll song because of the irony of the title
Well, I guess there are many reasons why people are atheist, lol
I didn't expect much but this is an incredible song I love it, I think it would do well, especially if most of the songs are gonna be really energetic, it could really stand out in a good way

This song is a real masterpiece! I am not really fan of this kind of music but there is something specisl in this song. Itwill ill be very difficult selection for Finland as all songs are first class so far. For some strange reason which I can't even explain this is now my new favorite for Finland. And yes: I am from Finland.
Thank god we have the UMK 2022.
Of course the 3 minute rule for eurovision makes sense. But I really wish this song was longer
Technically they need to shake 5 seconds off of the song
Sometimes I think 4min songs wpuld be ok, it's only +20min to the party
Yep I don’t know how we’re gonna deal with the last seconds 😆
@@oliveramusic there really isn't one second too much in your song

I'm not an atheist, but the same time I find these lyrics quite wise, full of deep thoughts, doubts and insecurities ("I don't want to face my sins"). It's like, sometimes everyone has thoughts like this - someone just for one strange minute, someone all life. Nevertheless, I think the song melodically and vocally is beautiful :)

This song is amazing! So beautiful it gave me chills. It sounds like something Sia, Billie Eyelashes or someone big like that could release.
I also think that it's funny how people are shocked because of the message of this song. It shows how religions are still huge part of our daily life and how it surprises people when someone has different values as they have. I think the topic of this song makes people talk about it a lot. It has a chance to do well in eurovision. It makes people wonder and it can be seen as very artsy. I think this song did miss a some kind of climax moment in the end (build up to last chorus)
In some countries this can be perceived like an insulting the feelings of believers at the legislative level so I think YLE won't make such experiments.
@@AAMANUFACTURE it's indeed a risky song to send in eurovision. I personally really like dark songs since I see them as artistic. Though I could see this song getting a lot of jury votes.
@@AAMANUFACTURE Well el diablo was in the same situation so...
I think it missed a resolution, because now she pretty much points out errors but doesn't share how she finds out meaning of life, values and such herself. I'd rewrite the last chorus to give climax and resolution:
Thank God I'm an atheist
Cause I can find peace of mind in my life
And a meaning to life without God
My heaven is a state of mind
So thank God I'm an atheist
Cause when it's time to leave this all behind
I have embraced my life for it

Thank you so much. I'm quite young and my family is very religious but I always felt like it's not for me and it felt so weird. But also I never though of myself as atheist,- that just not a thing where I'm from. But I relate so much to these lyrics. And I think a lot more people could relate. I hope you will win.
I had honestly expected this song to come across with a bit more irony and maybe have some comedic value to it, given the ironic nature of the statement. Still, instead, it seems more serious in nature and reflective of a person's own journey of faith or lack thereof. Setting aside the song's topic and lyrics, the music arrangement and the vocals are well done. Vocals are lovely and maybe even eerie at the same time. I really like this song.

I hate it, because it makes the age old assumption that there are two sides of this argument, and while that is true for the majority, there is infact a growing number of pagan believers in this world and the song totally ignores their existence.
