I work in Tulsa everyday. I have nothing but respect for my police. I'm always carrying where I work at this construction site and have to open the gate at 5 in the morning. I don’t know enough about the effects of prolonged taser usage. It’s not an abuse of power but if they’re taught in training that the amount of taser shocks he used could cause serious injury then they certainly did something wrong. The taser use between the initial shock and when they cuffed him was all pretty much useless. They should’ve all went hands on after the first couple of shocks and then used the taser as a backup if they couldn’t quite control him. The taser kept being used even though it was obvious it wasn’t forcing compliance. This is all Monday morning quarterbacking though, it’s a great discussion to have for training but in a real scenario it’s hard to expect that much. In the end it’s the perps fault for having an interaction like this with the police in the first place.

I work in Tulsa everyday. I have nothing but respect for my police. I'm always carrying where I work at this construction site and have to open the gate at 5 in the morning. There are people sleeping on the sidewalk all around where I work. Or you have the ones that were yelling and screaming at themselves.

Yep, the cops did all they could. Seems like the suspect died from all the drugs and the self sustained injuries he did to himself from breaking the glass. If he would have complied, they would have gotten him to the hospital earlier and he would have been alive today. The taser and drugs don't go well but he asked for it, he caused his own injuries and death not the police.

My view is, tasers where necessary, dude is strong as hell, he is on something for sure and it more than likely gave him strength, its unfortunate that he passed away but its clear that the cops werent abusing their power or anything, they needed to restrain a man and nothing else could have been used, took multiple officers to handcuff him
PCP seemed to be the cause for his erratic behavior.
I don’t know enough about the effects of prolonged taser usage. It’s not an abuse of power but if they’re taught in training that the amount of taser shocks he used could cause serious injury then they certainly did something wrong.
The taser use between the initial shock and when they cuffed him was all pretty much useless. They should’ve all went hands on after the first couple of shocks and then used the taser as a backup if they couldn’t quite control him. The taser kept being used even though it was obvious it wasn’t forcing compliance.
This is all Monday morning quarterbacking though, it’s a great discussion to have for training but in a real scenario it’s hard to expect that much. In the end it’s the perps fault for having an interaction like this with the police in the first place.

He told all of them to stop because he had committed no crime. When they caught up to him and he saw them he tried getting in the building to get away from them again. The only thing they had on him now was a broken glass door. Now they have a way bigger case and another unarmed dead black man that ran from the police.
