- this song was released from lin earlier today because of the shutting down of Broadway because of COVID19. ive tried to get the correct lyrics but sorry if there’s a spelling mistake or i heard wrong.. it’s supposed to go before The Reynolds Pamphlet in the musical soundtrack and it was written before Hurricane... enjoy and stay safe x
edit : ok so its "false piety" not falls piety sorry! i also think i spelled "to" wrong in it sorry for the grammar mistakes i just wanted to get the video out as soon as possible so people could hear it... thank you for watching it:)))
Washington: Alexander, you only have 3 friends. Laurens is dead, Lafayette is probably in jail somewhere, and who the hell knows where Hercules is, so the only other option is that it's you.
Alexander: *sweating*
at this point of the story washington is dead. the president here is john adams
@@hltrskltr He's talking to him spirit
Canisavich Scovace holy shit that’s b a d
@@hltrskltr Hamilton and Adams were nowhere near friendly enough to have this conversation, "Adams fires Hamilton, calls him creole bastard in his taunts... Hamilton publishes his response: JOHN SIT DOWN YOU FAT MOTHER***********" and the Reynolds Pamphlet was published in 1797, Washington didn't die until 1799. You're just supposed to call former president Mr. President. It's what you'd call Obama, Bush, Clinton, Carter today.
Lafayette will be released by Austrians to the Americans after being held in modern day Czechia. Interestingly enough, he was put into solitary before this as the result of a escape attempt orchestrated by a certain wealthy husband who always pays.
Hercules was sewing some pants.
The song, in a nutshell-
Hamilton: “I have this friend who needs help, what should he do?”
Washington: “He should talk less.”
Hamilton: *”NO”*
but at this point, the president isnt Washington, its john adams
Inês Faria Didn’t you just say this on another reply? Idk, the musical isn’t completely accurate.

at this point of the story washington is dead. the president here is john adams
@@hltrskltr I thought he was dead too until I looked it up. The Reynolds Pamphlet was published in August(?) 1797 so Adams was indeed already president for a few months but Washington died in 1799. (and I'm gonna assume this song takes place before The Reynolds Pamphlet - in place of Hurricane or around that time)
Though I can imagine Hamilton asking Washington for guidance even after he had already died.

Nooooooo " be careful who you hurt" tears and realization*
rainbow dragonfly Explain please? He only ends up hurting himself? Or was it that he indirectly Phillip who hurt? Is of the confused.
Yo Gurl bruh. Eliza. E l i z a. E L I Z A
Basically, his family suffered because of his decisions
Emiri J. He already did that by cheating on her. She had already heard the people suspected it when the pamphlet was published, hence her "Your enemy whispers so you have to scream...I heard about whispers..." in first burn. He hurt everyone involved with him, not only Eliza, she was more heartbroken at the idea of her entire family being shunned because of only Hamiltons actions. She completely lost all hope for her and her family's legacy then. So Hamilton hurt himself, which hurt his family, which hurt his son, ( I mean what really could George Pheacker have been saying to drive Phillip into dueling him? ), which hurt Eliza which hurt himself, setting off a domino effect. Soon everyone feels sorry for him (It's quiet downtown). And he takes out all his anger on the political field, which burr sees as a threat to him, and the legendary duel takes place.
BUT LETS NOT FORGET THIS IS ALL AFTER JOHN DIES.
#lamsiscannon2020

i love how everyone is like "but alex, you h a v e no friends"
its true tho. Lafayette was in jail, Laurens is ded (fs), and idk where Herc went. (Burr doesn't count lol)
"What would happen if one were to cheat on his wife and it seeped into his professional job. Asking for friend"
I guess this was supposed to take the place of hurricane?
lin said he hasn’t written hurricane when he wrote this so it could have been used instead of it :)
He said it was supposed to be before the Reynolds pamphlets so I guess
Before Reynolds pamphlet
But this song mentions the consequences in both his private and professional life so maybe right after Burn? But the video says before Reynolds Pamphlet but in hurricane he hasn’t even written the Reynolds Pamphlet yet so I’m confused
@@emilykrey5319 So it's probably before Hurricane. Lin did say it was before the Reynolds Pamphlet, but didn't say when before the Reynolds Pamphlet
Also, this is him seeking advice for what to do after Jefferson Burr and Madison found out which is why it says it "bleeding out into the professional" and hes talking about how they could use this against him, so this is definitely before burn

Mockingbird Finch See ya there!
i can see why this was cut... but damn i wish the part "be careful who you hurt. wait for it" was somehow included on other songs...
domestic Apple Yeah, like in Hurricane they could’ve added a small whisper from Christopher Jackson saying be careful who you hurt right before the wait for its or something. Idk.
tbh if it was improved (like it most likely would have been, especially, after, y'know, they had Washington lol) I would not have complained if it was added in. Hurricane would still be included, but adding this song before it would add another sense of anger from as at Hamilton. HE LITERALLY IGNORED DIRECT ORDERS AGAIN AND WAS LIKE *NOPE I'MA RUIN MY WHOLE CAREER SISTER*

So this is what Lin been doing during quarantine.
"He's come too far for them to drag him through the dirt."
"But I know you're my friend Alexander be careful who you hurt."
These are some really powerful and potent lines. But this song feels low rather than a desperate man cornered who's very confident in the horrible decision he's about to make. Sad we missed out on these 2 lines, but I'm glad we got Hurricane instead.
I wish this was included in the original. IT'S SO GOOD!
I love that whether it’s Hurricane or this song, this still has the “wait for it” motif
The ensemble encouraging Hamilton to for once in his life wait for it, but it’s his fatal flaw to always be on the offensive
This song is great, but I know exactly why it got scrapped. This would've been right before "The Reynolds Pamphlet", but has Hamilton talking to Washington, and still being Treasury Secretary, which raises SO many problems with the timeline!
Yes, i think that he is talking with Jonh Adams!?
"I can take the pain and shame-" WHAT ABOUT YOUR WIFE ALEX????
Hearing this takes me back to the days of ham4ham... I miss that era of musicals and I miss when everyone was just getting obsessed with Hamilton.
Only just this year people in my town are getting hyped up about musicals... its like they didn't exist till 2020
Your country gets excited about musicals ? Lmao in France they don't even care about it you guys are lucky, few ppl know musicals here. I have about 10 friends + a teacher but that's it (I miss the good old times too buddy, nostalgia right in the heart)
Washington: your friend needs to let it go.
Hamilton: *doesnt let it go*
Hamilton: what happened?
How cool Washington’s part is, like uh huh sure Alex you have a friend
Hamilton: so uh i got this friend, and uh, he messed up big time kind of not really but yes? And uh, he needs help
Washington:
Washington: Son, you don't got any friends.
O_o
Advice: move on and stay quiet Alex: *anxiety intensifies *
If they released the official version of course the person who plays Adams would sing his part. This is probably some kind of work in progress or draft due to it not being released. So don’t be surprised when lin sings both parts
at this point of the story washington is dead. the president here is john adams
Inês Faria ok, then president John Adams thanks for correction
@@hltrskltr No washington was still alive in 1797 .
@@sad_ie1015 Washington was *not* dead. He simply was no longer the president. Remember, John Adams and Hamilton *DESPISED* each other. There was no way he was going to talk to *ADAMS* so, it was washington.
i know this has been said before, but this is definitely meant to be washington and hamilton, not adams and hamilton. no, washington wasn’t dead, he died december of 1799.
Lin singing both parts at the same time is excellent.

*NOT ME IT'S A FRIEND*
*Alex rehearsing the song he's going to sing Infront of Daddy George in the study as Eliza's fixing dinner for the kids*
I kind of would've loved to hear this in the musical- even though it may have altered Hurricane a bit- I really like just hearing Hamilton go to Mr Washingdad for advice but also maybe it would've changed the entire story and it does need to stay at least mostly historically accurate
How would it change most of the story? All it would add would be another level of depth to the story. Like, yes, Hurricane would have been altered slightly, but not a lot. It would also add another layer of annoyance at Hamilton for not just staying quiet. with just the Hurricane song, you are annoyed with him for being stupid. With the added I have this friend song, it would add the annoyance of,
*JESUS CHRIST THIS MAN LITERALLY IGNORES EVERYONE, DOES HE WANT TO FRICKING RUIN HIS LIFE!?*
@@patch4537 I assumed Alexander would come to his senses after all that advice but now that I think about it, you're probably right(like a 97% chance you're right)

Lin is a genius!
(Hears 'world turned upside down'... Yes! I was right!)
Lol I didn't notice, thanks for mentioning it.
@@elias.3427 There's so many melodies that return to reference different themes and stuff in Hamilton and I'm kinda training myself to notice them 😁
@@alexinitalics188 yeah, it's really cool how much there is behind the "oh this sounds nice." Like, all of the reoccurring themes (I think they're called leit motifs, idk) kinda bring the emotion of those moments where they initially appear, like how "wait for it" is initially framed as Burr's method of doing things vs Ham, who would instead take his shot, setting up the idea that Hamilton acts and Burr waits, which is flipped in the duel at the end.
@@elias.3427 Yes! Exactly! There's a great series on CZcams caked How Hamilton Works all about the motifs, it's super interesting(even though I don't understand _all_ of the music terminology)
@@alexinitalics188 I've gotta check that out, it seems really cool!
man idk if i'd like this over hurricane they're both so good
i think i prefer having hurricane in the official production, bc that song really highlights and explains hamilton's train of thought when he had written the reynold's pamphlet, and thus it isnt as maddening when the reynold's pamphlet comes on next. with this song, its easy to think that hamilton wouldve had absolutely no reason to write the reynold's pamphlet-- he even consulted washington about it!!
yeah so overall i feel like its better storytelling with hurricane, though i adore the idea of this song as character/relationship development between father (washington) and son (hamilton).
@@j3891 a cool idea would be to have this song before hurricane (with some tweaks so they wouldn't sound similar) so that way we see more of A.Ham and Washington's bond (which i also adore) and we see how A.Ham takes (more like doesn't take) Washington's advice
The only problem would be that this song wouldn't fit anywhere in the timeline, Washington wasn't the president in 1797/1796, and hamilton left his position before this talk wouldve taken place
@@leafygreen45 bruh Philip dies too early in the musical compared to real life, that wouldn't be a real concern
