- Explore the fairytale home of a renowned English Poet!
If you love the gentle English countryside, wildflowers, cottage gardens, history and romanticism you are in for a treat!
Join me for an early morning hike as we wander in the footsteps of William Wordsworth’s Grasmere and Rydal, located at the heart of the Lake District National Park in North West England.
First, we take in the village of Grasmere, starting at Dove Cottage where Wordsworth called his cottage garden the “loveliest spot man hath ever found”.
We visit St Oswald’s Church and Wordsworth’s Memorial Garden and grave. We’ll also see Grasmere’s famous Gingerbread Shop!
We then head to Grasmere Lake along a lovely narrow country road featuring beautiful old cottages and English country homes, including Allan Bank, a grade 2 listed villa and National Trust property.
As it’s mid-spring, the cottage gardens are in full bloom. You’ll see stunning flowers such as clematis and wisteria. We’ll also say hello to horses, geese, ducks and Herdwick lambs. Cottagecore to the max!
After a quiet sit by the lake, (a favourite wild swimming spot) we’ll carry on over to White Moss wood. There, will have an early lunch before hiking to Ryal Water, via Ryal Caves.
Lastly, we’ll take in Rydal Hall and the Grot, a magical waterfall reading room. It’s really quite a special spot. We finish our walk outside Rydal Mount, Wordsworth’s final home.
I hope you find this a relaxing, peaceful and cosy watch! It’s not far to walk and you get to see so much. Ideal for those who enjoy slow living!

Amazing places of the Lake District, gorgeous local paradise makes this region ideal for creating mini reserve around every little pond or flower. Great thanks to you Chloe!!!
That's such beautiful feedback, thank you 😊
Everything about this episode is simply stunning. (& the production value, editing and music is better than some actual programmes on tv!)

I agree love watching her vids
Better than ASMR vids these days! Very soothing and relaxing voice
You captured the soul of this beautiful landscape with your cinematography. The pace of different shots, your narration and choice of music is really well balanced and so is your dog's happy jump into the lake. I enjoyed watching 💚

What an incredibly beautiful part of the world. Thank you so much for sharing this Chloe.
Thanks for coming along 😊
What a lovely, gentle video and such a charming presenter. I half expected to see Ratty or Mole poking about.
Haha Rydal Hall feels like it could be Toad Hall 😄
You are blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the world, the spring flowers, the soft light, it almost feels unreal, but thankfully Cam makes it real for me.
Haha he's a scene stealer.
@@FablesandFells Especially with his dramatic entry into the lake💚
Such a lovely homage to Grasmere and Wordsworth. I found myself reading again of his youthful boat-stealing that was rebuked by a stern crag as he stole across a lake…
Aw lovely 🙏
Such a lovely walk Chloe - a kaleidescope of colour and stunning views. Grasmere village is gorgeous too, a pearl of the Lake District.
May is such a magical month 🌸
another exciting upload from Chloe always good to hear from you! hope you are getting on well! 😎✌️
Thanks Ron, hope you're well 🙏
It takes me back, not several centuries, but several decades to when I visited the cottage when my son was a little boy. It was utterly magical, thanks for bringing back the memories Chloe ❤ Another inspiring video.
Oh that's lovely, glad it brought some memories back 😊
I loved everything about this video. I especially liked watching Cam bunny jump into the water 😂👍
Haha he does everything with style 😄
Awesome video, the Lake District is gods garden, a truly scrumptiously beautiful place, it is Englands glory and soul, I love the place.
Scrumptious is a great word for the landscape 😄
How beautiful can a countryside be? Yes! 🤯😍
amazing video - love the peace and tranquility of the still lake!! Simply stunning - so pleased Cam got to dive in!! Keep them coming - wonderful to relax to, thank you so very much !!
Thanks Chris, glad you enjoyed it 🙏
Loved when your dog wagged his tale while in the water! 😅 "Splish, splash!" 💦
Haha it's like a propeller!
Wow, what a special walk. Thank you so much for sharing it. The Lake District is such an enchanting place. You really have a great eye for capturing the beauty and charm of the area.
Thank you 😊
Brilliant! Yes, I would love to see more at Grasmere. It's such a timeless and peaceful place. Cheers!
I'll try get some of the cottage interiors 🏡
Cam's tail going like a fast metronome when swimming delightful, luv Spaniels😅
Haha he doesn't do things by halves 😄
Hi Chloe what a stunning video or vlog what ever stunning lake district beautiful colour's watching it on a windy cold and rainy Thursday afternoon in Workington. We never seem to get 2 days alike now. Keep up the great work it's very cinematic.
All the best to you and cam.
Malcolm and Sheila from Workington.
Thanks so much. It certainly doesn't feel summery does it!
Thank for taking us on this hike with you. And I love Wordsworth’s poetry.
Thanks for coming along 😊
Beautiful! I will be watching this again. And I love Cam's wagging tail!
Thanks Terry 😊
Absolutely superb video! So beautifully scenic but it's the way it's been captured and narrated that really renders the beauty of the Lakes so well, this deserves some sort of award for short film making, watched it twice! Thank you ☺️
Aw thank you so much 😊
You are truly a master in this art, I hope you never stop doing this, your style is very uniq.
Thank you 🙏
Hi Chloe, wow wow absolutely wow, this video is outrageous, stunningly beautiful scenes, like a movie, thank you so much for sharing, amazing work 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thank you for this beautiful video it brings back some much valued memories of several holidays spent in Grasmere and doing many wonderful walks
Ahh nice 🙏
You have that KNACK for transporting us into another dimension. It was quite wonderful to explore with you, being immersed within the landscape, being mesmerized by your soothing voice, and by the magical sounds of the gurgling streams, the rushing falls, and the lapping of the lake... You are a gift. Thanks again for taking us on another adventure. I would love to see more of these types of informative videos...they're very captivating. All the best to you and to Cam...
Aw thanks so much William, that's such lovely feedback! I really do love taking you all along for the adventure 🐾
Such a bright, beautiful and relaxing video. Thank you, it was just what I needed today. I loved the quiet moment by the lake and the little visual notes about locations and species introductions.
Thanks Imogen, glad you found a little peace in it 🌸
After a stressful day that was the perfect tonic. Thank you.
Glad to hear it helped a little 😊
Coffee Treat For You!
That's most kind, thank you 🥺 I was waning by the end of that shoot as shooting always makes it a long day 😄 so a café pick-me-up would be a big help ☕🍪. Cam says half is his treat allowance though 🐕
Such a stunningly beautiful video🌸! It felt like walking through a picture postcard 🌻! The lake, wisteria and mountains are breathtaking! Thank you so much for sharing this peaceful and relaxing video with us ❤
Thanks Ellen 😊
@@FablesandFells ❤️🌸
Mesmerising!! What an absolutely stunning walk. Would definitely love to see more. Thanks so much for sharing 👍
Thanks Pat 😊
Fantastic video again. WOW the pictures of the hills and forests in that light are great. As usual beautifully edited. Thanks for taking the time. Geoff
Thanks so much Geoff 🙏
Writing from northern California.
What a remarkable thing to get an inside peek at some of the beauty that inspired Wordsworth's (and others) work.
(..though your demeanor, visage and voice surpasses it all.)
As always, thanks for serving up some 'lovely' in a civilization full of 'ugly'.
Thank you, as ever. Things do feel very wrought at the moment so it was nice to be able to share a little gentle nature 🙏
Another great walk and video. Thank you so much for these. I love the Lake District and don't get to go as often as I would like.
Thanks Kevin, hope you get back out there 🙏
Absolutely stunning. To be honest its hard to have a favourite part of the video. Though the idea of sitting in 'The Grot' and reading Tolkien is wonderful!
Isn't it! It does make for such a special spot.
Absolutely wonderful film Chloe, really enjoyed this. Favourite part ALL of it. 👍
Thank you 😊
Chloe, that was such a beautiful video! You have a real gift for finding the interesting shots and combining them with music and your lovely voice. I could listen to you for hours.
I don’t have a favourite part of the video. I enjoyed it all, although Cam’s antics made me chuckle. He’s a star in his own right.
I would love to see more videos from that area. It’s somewhere I have never visited - and unfortunately never will now. It was great that you visited so early in the day. I can only imagine how crowded with tourists it must get at times.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 🙏 Haha he always steals the show. I'm so glad I can bring it to you, it really fuels me to create these for people are are unable to travel or hike.
Thank you Chloe for yet another stunning video.
I have spent years walking, fell climbing and camping in the Lake District but I don't think I have ever seen it as beautiful as this.
Thank you 😊 May is such a beautiful month 🌸
00:01 is so beautiful it should be a painting
Wow, absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.
Thank you Chloe for yet another Gem!
I honestly don't have a favourite part in all of that. 😃🙏
Glad you enjoyed it all 😊
Another awesome video with beautiful scenery. Lol the doggie "C'mom mom, jump in, the water's fine"...
Haha he gets quite weirded out when I do swim and tries to direct me back to shore 😄
Hi Chloe another interesting video well filmed, thank you. It would be nice to see in some of the property if that is possible. Regards. Andrew.
Love the English countryside. I recall as a boy fondly reading the Arthur Randsome novels set in the Lake District 🇬🇧 🇳🇿
Ahh yes visiting the locations for Swallows and Amazons would make a nice video 😊
@@FablesandFells at last I have met someone else who read that book! 😊
Well worth getting up at silly o'clock for that, simply stunning and tranquil, you certainly have a special connection with nature, my favourite part was when Cam ran into the water, tail wagging and looking so happy.
Thank you 😊 Me too, that jump 😄
Amazing walk in the wonderful nature as I being there!🎆
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Absolutely phenomenal video. I really enjoy the scenery, but I also very much appreciate your calm, easy-going manner. Your videos are a breath of fresh air in this very complex world. Thank you!
Thanks so much, I appreciate that 🙏
Chloe you have such a beautiful speaking voice you should narrate documentaries on the TV thank you again for such a beautiful video
Aw thanks so much Dawn, that would be a fun job!
Well that was a wonderful video so relaxing beautifully filmed great narration and wonderful music to go with wonderful scenery thank you so much
Oh this is perfection
Glad you enjoyed seeing it 🌸
Hello Chole🤗what a great video and the landscape is stunning💕the flowers love the weather there, the foxglove were big and beautiful, I was hoping that I would see some fuchsia’s and the wisteria was stunning, we have hummingbirds here and they would be in heaven there and Cam is definitely in his element, also I felt like I just saw a episode of All Creatures Great & Small because of the scenery. Thank you for sharing Chole and the wait was definitely worth it👍🏻
I have seen hummingbirds in the US, they are so precious! I would love to be able to see them again. Haha I should watch the series, I read some of the books when I was younger.
@@FablesandFells. Chole you are blessed to have places as beautiful and of historical importance near you, I would love the solitude that the countryside offers. As for the hummingbirds we just had one nest underneath our eve by our kitchen window and we were able to see the nest being built, to the mother coming and going and the baby flying away, I live in So Ca and we have native hummingbirds that stay year round, but when the non native hummingbirds migrate it is a sight and I have a lot of plants that provide nectar, so my front and backyard is hectic with hummingbirds and plus I also put out feeders to provide nectar😉
The lakes, enchanting as always! Love the flow of your films, very inspiring! 😊
Thank you 😊
Favorite part, the landscape scenery - beautiful. You do a great job capturing it, and staging the scenes.
Thank you 🙏
What a beautiful video to share with us. Thank you
A very old, historycal land within the beauty of nature. A really good combination of exploring, experience, hiking, mental recovery in turbulent times. And a lovely narration from the heart of one of the deares girl in the scene. 😊🏞️♥️
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 😊
❤@@FablesandFells

Thanks for coming along 😊
Enchanting video Chloe! 😊😊😊 Loved the history & beauty of Grasmere. Wonderful!
Thanks Bill 😊
Great video, you a natural photo composition, and you have a very soothing voice for the voiceovers. I would love to see more of the area, indeed any of the Lake District. As a child I loved the Arthur Ransom books, perhaps a video of his area in the future?
Thanks Paul! Funny you should say that, someone else mentioned Arthur Random's books and I think that would be a great video to do!
so many memories, i have a photo of my daughter hiding in that tree.
Aw haha that's nice.
Your episodes and scenery shots are a blessing. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Jeffrey 🙏
It is a gem of a place, truly breathtaking, its a place I could easily live apart from one major issue
Yes I like to sneak in when there's no one up and about but living there would be full on 😅
@@FablesandFells Have done a lot of walking up there up the peaks in all weathers it is my favourite place in England

Magnificent scenery 👌. Where there's water you'll find a springer spaniel 😂
Haha always 🐾
8:56 what a stunning beautiful view 🤩
Those horses have such a great field don't they!
That's was a really lovely video. It must take an enormous amount of effort to produce something so good and professionally.
Thanks Russell. It takes longer than is probably sustainable with it being not my full time job 😅
Great timing of the walk, the lighting was ace! It's difficult to choose a best bit.
Thank you 🙏 Yes the light can really make or break filming days 😅
Bliss😊
Thank you for another enchanting video ..... Cheers 🙂🙂
Thanks Seamus 🙏
Oh my goodness, lovely change of style in this video. Should be put in the Deep Relaxation section...😊... Must of taken ages to pull all this together. Well done Chloe.

Chloe...thanks for a wonderful video...the scenery is spectacular ❤
Thank you 😊
This was an awesome and beautiful cinematic video. You did a wonderful job creating this.
Thank you so much 😊
Hi Chloe,
I wonder how many viewers appreciated your map of Grasmere, it wasn't lost on me. Recognised the village within the first few seconds and know that lane well. And there you are by "a secret gate". Love the wren song. The path round the lake is much is so much better these days. You mentioned bluebells, Tracey Attrell tells me it has been a bumper year, especially Rannerdale Knotts and she is driven nuts by people walking/rolling over them, even picking them. Never seen Rydal Hall but will do in September when we visit. We always do a trip to Alcock Tarn so will tie the two. It looked by the light that you filmed this late on in the day. Hope your next video doesn't give you the same technical issues. Have you visited Brentwood?
Cheers
Graham
The Grot at Rydal Hall is worth a visit! The gardens are lovely too if you go at the right time of year. I filmed over two days, both were mornings but the latter morning was definitely moodier! I haven't visited there! Hope you enjoy your visit in September 🙏
@@FablesandFells I meant to comment on the piano music while you were walking round the lake, sounded like Bilbo's last song to me. Would I be wrong?
Great video! It really makes me want to visit England again, especially the English countryside.
Hope you get the chance 😊
Just beautiful, thank you for your videos.
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Lovely area, flowers now out, peaceful environs beautifully photographed & narrated although Wordsworth old house needs a new dampcourse &paint 😅
Thank you 😊
