Inverter Generator Natural Gas Conversion with the Century Fuel Products Kit

- Where I live we have natural gas to the house. During hurricane season, before a storm, we need to stock up on gas in case of a power outage lasting several days. Filling up cans and cars full of gas in case of an emergency. While there are generators out there that are dual and tri fuel, I already have this inverter generator. Its setup is somewhat unique and i've looked at different companies for ready made solutions. Many of the websites online were broken or the companies were not interested with this ipro4200 anomaly.
One company, Century Fuel products was willing to work with me, and after providing them with information on the unit sent me a kit that they felt might work. This video documents not only the installation of that kit but also the modifications made to the side of the house to safely facilitate the quick disconnect fittings to my gas line.
The only issue I found with the kit was the two supplied hose clamps wee too small for the supplied hose. Several modifications were done to this generator but they were non-intrusive and reversible save 2 small screw holes.
I have also gone with a different solution for the choke, but decided that the choke work was beyond scope for this video and should be a separate video.

If its anymore than local outages, you have no chance to get gas after the storm, the pumps are down and empty or both. Last time was a nightmare to keep the generator running.

I appreciate the effort you took to make this informative and not rambling on and on. Beautiful. I’m going to order a Century conversion for my Generac GP5500. Retro Tech and Electronics: You made a very good video here. I have the IGEN4200 which is identical to the pro with different plug options. I have the exact same kit from Century Fuel and YES they were very responsive and just overal helpful. That said, I'm glad I ran into your video before installation as it seems there are a few mods I'll need to make. The choke seems to be the biggest concern of any of the work. I'd like some more details about your thoughts on setting that choke up. I do hurricane prep assistance down here in FL and in my case I'll be running propane on my setup. I too like to have a on the fly backup of fuel...but carrying 20-30 gals of fuel is just dangerous for standby purposes.
What i didn't see was the more detailed approach on the bends on the linkage and where you exactly put the glued rivet on.
I havent spent much more time on that choke because that generator hasnt seen gas since the video, its exclusively natural gas now.
Great instructional video. I tried this same kit on our Predator 9000/7250 watts generator. The adaptor worked very well on NG, but when trying to run on gasoline under load, the engine would sputter. I confirmed the adaptor was the problem. I changed that adaptor and bought the Motor Snorkel from US Carburation. It works great on gasoline and NG. It's made of some durable material and no modification needs to be done after installing it.
I'm not sure if you mentioned this in your video, but here are some suggestions to your set up, from my experience.
1) Make sure you size up the NG line properly. If not, you won't get the full power of your generator as you add loads to it.
2) Only use approved NG pipes, hoses and quick/disconnect fittings.
3) It's a good idea to run the generator on gasoline, for 5 min. to lubricate the engine seals, then switch to NG before use. (Not necessary but a good idea)

A few months later pulled out in an outage and started on half a pull. The carb, out of the equation.
And be careful using portable generators as well. We should also keep children safe when we’re using portable generators so they don’t get electrocuted. Just reminding everyone to be careful using portable generators

So far Century Fuel Products and Grenergy are the only companies I’ve found who have all metal inserts between the air filter and carburetor. The others I’ve come across use at least part plastic. Plastic seems like too weak a link for an emergency generator.
I agree, the aluminum is more robust.
Could you have ran gas and or gasoline? Depending on circumstances and availability? I enjoyed your work thank you.
In this setup it can now run on natural gas OR gasoline.
