  • To loc or not to loc?
    Should I do manicured locs, semi Freeform or Freeform?
    Everyone’s hair journey is individual. Here’s why I decided to take the semi Freeform route.

    I love that - at timestamp 1:52 - there comes a time where we just need to surrender to what our hair naturally wants to do - to loc unto itself. I have been enjoying watching your videos so much. Your locs are gorgeous and finding your channel in the last few days affirmed that I made the right decision in loc'g my hair. I am a little over a month into the journey, but so far, I'm loving it! I was loose natural for 10 years, I'm 43, and just felt it was time to surrender completely. I have fallen in love again with my hair.

      Yes! Surrendering has brought more ease and self acceptance into my life. Thank you for watching and sharing. I was thrilled to hear about you falling in love with your hair again.

    Your hair is lovely and exactly how I am envisioning my semi freeform locs to look. I love the way it poofs out at the roots, and it still has movement to them. I did my own 2-strand twists recently hoping to start from here.
    Thanks for inspiring. Will stay tuned for more maintenance videos
    🎉✨💜✨🌟

      Two strand twists are a great way to get started!
      I enjoy the look of full roots that come with being a semi-Freeformer, but I won’t lie, the first 1-2 years was a roller coaster for me. I would get used to seeing my hair look and behave a certain way and then it moves to a new stage in the journey. But it’s been great overall.
      Thank you for watching and I’ll be sure to keep you posted.

    I have long admired the beauty of locs. I spent 23 years playing in my fro, similarly to you I am entering my 40's and want a much simpler lifestyle when it comes to my hair. I just started my locs. I installed 100 braids and i plan to lie the locs in knots at the base to maintain them every 3 months. There is a locitian in London Melissa Blake that has been doing this for years. Her technique is called Knotted Locs. If i had realized I could knot my new growth I was definitely planning to Freeform. I need peace and simplicity and to embrace my natural hair beauty. I want to work with my hair instead of against it. ❤❤

    Thanks for this video, your locs have thickened up so much !! How do you deal with hair growing away from the loc as a semi free-form?

    • @elayseah3875
      @elayseah3875  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi! @rebeccamajane8388 sometimes I’ll take strands growing away from a loc and wrap it around the loc it belongs to. Other times I’ll just let it be. It really depends on how thick the loc is that it’s growing away from.

      Every few weeks I “pop” my locs by gently pulling them apart.
