English subtitles included. However, this version contained subtitles for a different and shorter version of the film. Therefore, this version has untranslated dialog here and there, including missing translations from two whole 2-minute long scenes. The fools that did this also made it impossible to watch the film if you needed subs as they weren't even synched with the audio and video. Imagine how hard it was to straighten out this mess when the subtitles were never synched to begin with and the one doing the 'fixing' understood not a word of the language.
Agni Pariksha (alternatively Agni Pareeksha or Agni Parikshya or Agnipariksha, transl. The Test Of Fire) is a 1954 Indian Bengali-language romantic drama film directed by Agradoot and starring Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen. The film was adapted from Asha Purna Devi's novel of the same name. The movie was remade in Hindi in 1967 as Chhoti Si Mulaqat also starring Uttam Kumar. Before that the movie was simultaneously made into a 1959 Telugu - Tamil bilingual titled Mangalya Balam in Telugu and Manjal Mahimai in Tamil.
The story revolves around Tapasi, a singer who has been married forcefully as a child to an old village zamindar’s grandson Bulu. Back at home, her parents discover the truth and vow to wipe out every single memory of Tapasi ever being married. Years later, Tapasi has now grown up to be a lovely young lady and is in love with Kiriti. She introduces Kiriti to her mother, who approves of him, and plans to marry them. Things change when Tapasi finds out that she has already been married in her childhood. This creates a conflict in her. Others find out this secret and ostracize Tapasi. How will Tapasi and Kiriti deal with this stigma? Will they triumph in their love?

জন্মের এগারো বছর আগে এ ছবি মুক্তি পেয়েছিল। তখন আমার বাবা-কাকা, মা-মাসি, পিসি সবাই তা উপভোগ করেছিল, আনন্দ পেয়েছিল। আজ প্রায় সত্তর বছর পর আমিও পরমানন্দ পেলাম।অর্থাৎ এ সকল ছবি কালোত্তীর্ণ রবীন্দ্রনাথের কবিতার মতো।

এতো উঁচু মানের অভিনয় আজকাল দেখা যায় না।
আপনারা মহানায়ক এবং মহানায়িকার ছায়া ছবিটি আমাদের দেখানোরজন্য অনেক দিন পরে আবার ফিরে যেতে পারলাম সেই দিনে।যখন তারা সবাই আমাদের সাথে ছিলেন।👍👍👍👍
2023 সালে এসে এই ছবি গুলো আমরা CZcams দেখতে পাচ্ছি এটা আমাদের পরম সৌভাগ্য🥰 চির দিন অমর হয়ে রবে
ছবি মুক্তির ৭০ বছর পরে প্রথম দেখছি অসাধারণ এইরকম ছবি তো হওয়া দরকার কিন্তু এখনকার ছবি এরকম পরিচ্ছন্ন হয় না উনারা এই সমস্ত ছবিতে কাজ করতে পেরেছেন বলেই তো আজ মহানায়ক মহানায়িকা হয়েছেন ❤❤❤❤❤
আমি যখন ক্লাস4 এ পরি তখন বইটা হয়ে ছিল তারপর বড় হয়ে অনেক বার দেখেছি।লেখিকা নায়ক নায়িকা।সংগীত সুব মিলিয়ে অনবদ্য।এই বইটা সিরিয়াল হবে ভেবে শঙ্কিত হচ্ছি।আমি তো দেখতে পারবোনা।
এমন অসাধারণ একটি দুষ্প্রাপ্য কালজয়ী ছায়াছবি দেখানোর জন্য অনেক ধন্যবাদ । কিছুদিন আগেও এই ছায়াছবিটি দেখে ছিলাম । আবারও, অনেক দিন ধরে এই ছায়াছবিটি সম্পূর্ণ দেখার জন্য অপেক্ষা করছিলাম ।এই একই কাহিনী নিয়ে হিন্দী ভাষায় নির্মিত ছোটিসি মুলাকাত ছায়াছবি টি দেখানোর জন্য অনুরোধ জানাচ্ছি ।বলিষ্ঠ কাহিনী প্রাণবন্ত অভিনয় ও সর্বোপরি সুদক্ষ পরিচালকের সুনিপুণ পরিচালনার গুণে সমৃদ্ধ এইসব দুর্দান্ত অভিনয় সমৃদ্ধ ছায়াছবি গুলো বারবার দেখলেও কখনো পুরোনো মনে হয় না । এমন কালজয়ী দুষ্প্রাপ্য ছায়াছবি গুলো অত্যান্ত যত্ন সহকারে উপযুক্ত ব্যবস্থা নিয়ে সংগ্রহ করে রাখা উচিত, যাতে পরবর্তী প্রজন্ম বাংলা ছায়াছবির জগতে এইসকল অনন্য প্রতিভাধর অভিনেতা অভিনেত্রীদের অভিনীত ছায়াছবি গুলো দেখতে পারে । আপনার সংগ্রহে পুরোনো দিনের বহুল জনপ্রিয় ছায়াছবি গুলো রয়েছ দেখেে খুব ভালো লাগলো । আশাকরি আগামী দিনে ,আরো অনেক ভালো ভালো পুরোনো দিনের দুষ্প্রাপ্য কালজয়ী ছায়াছবি গুলো দেখতে পাবো । বাংলা , হিন্দীঅথবা ইংরেজি যেকোনো ভাষায় হোক । ইংরাজি ভাষায় অনেক ভালো ভালো ছায়াছবি আছে । যেমন -- গানস অফ নেভারন , ম্যাকানস গোল্ড , কিংস সলোমন মাইনস , জুয়েল ইন দ্য ক্রাউন ,গড ফাদার , বর্ন ফ্রি ,, সিনডারেলা ,বিউটি এন্ড দ্য বিস্ট, জুমানজি , ফ্রগ প্রিন্স , ডিপ ব্লু সি , জস এছাড়াও আরো অনেক ভালো ভালো ছায়াছবি । মাঝে মাঝে এই সকল পুরোনো দিনের দুষ্প্রাপ্য কালজয়ী ছায়াছবি গুলো দেখালে ভালো লাগবে ।

বাংলা ছবিতে ও বহু চচিত সন্ধ্যা মুখোপাধ্যায়ের গান রয়েছে ।
