  • Usually we upload informative skiing content, but we thought it would be fun to show you the van that we have been converting for the past couple of weeks. We have watched so many other videos like this, while planning and building the van, we hope it can add value to others working on a similar build. Please ask any questions about dimensions, materials, or reasoning on any aspect of the build. We would love to help you out.

    It was the music that got me, reminds me of the 90’s 😍

    Beautiful!!! I’ve seen numerous van builds but I personally need all the electric components many use. I have the Jackery 240 with the solar panel and a few small battery packs. Wow, I really LOVE your build.

    Great conversion! Very smart to use the existing bolts to keep the floor in place. I almost settled on a Ford Transit Connect and now after watching yours and other Ram Promaster City conversions I'm back to Ram. And I'll definitely use that trick with the flooring.
    I also like the wall covering, makes it seem bigger inside. And the cross ventilation from cracking the windows an inch, which no one will notice because of the rain guards. Thanks for the inspiration and have a great winter!
    Edit: super layout too, and the pop up shelves in the back are great. Very stylish and cozy space. One caveat from a fellow DIY-er: all it takes for the pop up table to be level is an extra piece of wood on the lower screw of the latch. You can add wood putty to fill up the gap if you have OCD tendencies like me!

      We were debating between the ram and ford too. We opted for the ram because it is just a little bit bigger. Good luck with your conversion!

    If you cut a wood or metal wedge, "shaped like an old school door stopper", and drill it to match your existing bolt/screw pattern on your shelf brackets you can use it to level your fold out shelf. You many need to use a longer bolt/screw.

    Nice set up. You can buy a jeep spare tire holder for about $50, I got mine on eBay. I reinforced the inside of my back door with L-frame from and old bed frame or get from home depot and mount the tire to the back door.
    I've had mine on for about 3 years with no issue's.

      We used a 3 inch soft foam and a 1 inch hard foam. We got both of these on amazon.

    How has it been for you during storms and on all icy roads? I have been heavily debating pulling the trigger on one. a city in particular So glad I found this video

      Honestly, we haven't driven it in much snow yet. It has been a very very light snowfall year. We were planning on getting some good snow tires and then some chains for back up. but since it has not been snowing much we have just kept the summer tires on. It also helps that our other car is fully decked for snow. When it has been snowing we just drive that around.

      @@LocalBoy ah I see thank you! Do you think the city would be reliable enough for just few days here and there in snow with some good snow tires ? I appreciate the response

      @@lukebatty5666 I think if you have some good snow tires you would be good to go.

    We just got our Promaster City converted. Our biggest worry is keeping cool in the van. We had a Maxx Airfan installed. Will put it to the test on your first trip coming up soon. How do you like traveling in the Promaster so far? Any tips for the road?

    • @LocalBoy
      @LocalBoy  Před 2 lety +1

      Thats awesome. In regards to keeping cool my biggest recommendation would be the rain guards on the windows. it's so nice to crack the window and have the fan sucking out. it gets a great draft going and that has been great for us.

    How do you keep your ski boots warm and dry overnight, and what do you do for heat?

    • @LocalBoy
      @LocalBoy  Před 3 lety

      We turn on our car blast the heat on the floor vents and put our boots under for 15 min. They dry over night, but heating them up right before we ski makes it easier to get them on. We have a little electric heater we plug into our Jackery power bank that we turn on in the morning to heat up the area we sleep in. Hope that helps!

    i keep convincing myself that i should go ahead and buy a PMC but there is such an overwhelming amount of stories and advice against buying one due to its poor reliability i have a friend that is supplied the PMC for his work truck and he has had 2 of them both of which have had expensive transmission problems after 40k miles and there is a engine recall going on now due to excessive oil consumption with engine replacement being the fix. So can some one please give me the real scoop. i don't want to pull the trigger on a potential costly error . thanks everyone

    • @LocalBoy
      @LocalBoy  Před rokem

      We have had a great experience with our PMC. Only fix we've had so far was to replace a sensor in the engine bay. I was able to make the repair myself and it only cost $80. We've put 20k miles on the van so far and just make sure to keep up on oil changes and tire rotations. Knock on wood our van keeps performing well! Not sure if this helps, but we have loved our PMC!
