About time that yuji landed an evolving blow. We saw mahito do so in what, six black flashes? Yuji has used black flash between 1 and 4 times in nearly every fight hes been in since his first usage of the ability. Dude should've at least had a simple domain by now

Sure you could be right, but don't compare Yujis mastery skills with that of Mahito who was born a curse or Gojo who was born blessed. Nanami holds the record for most consecutive black flashes but still didn't have a simple domain or any kind of domain and neither has a beast like Todo.
As much as it seems like it's all about understanding yourself or curse energy it really isn't. That's not how people get domains or Todo would have one.
There's something that needs to awaken within you, and that thing has to be a sum of all your experiences, feelings, curse energy, environment and mood in general.
Personally I believe it's not that Yuji can't use a domain, it's that he doesn't understand how to and it's not something that can be taught. He has to experience it.

Both times Sukuna got hit by a black flash it’s been intense. Gojo knocked him out and Yuji hit him so hard the entire building looks like it’s going to fall. I think we often forget Yuji is basically a prodigy, he just isn’t selfish enough to focus solely on himself and getting stronger
Yuji has Kenjaku's potential. And we know how strong Kenjaku was.
Well this chapter fits for as the saying in the fandom that: "Kenjaku took the white splash, so Yuji could hit the black flash"

I'm fully convinced that the main requirement for black flash is conviction that you are fighting for. But it gets easier every time to hit it. Yuji has a strong conviction and that's why he can use it. Sukuna points this out as part of the reason why he hates him.
This is also why we hadn't seen Sukuna use a black flash until fighting Maki. He wanted to put sorcery up against HR and had something to prove for the first time, he needed to prove his belief in the concept of sorcery and specifically his own. After that it gets easier to hit a black flash so that's why he's been hitting them more since, without having to prove his conviction

That Black Flash hit Ryomen-Sukuna dead in his chest as well. Yuji likely exploded his whole back with that hit, let alone how he completely shattered the barrier between Megumi and Sukuna with that Giga-Impact. If he hit Sukuna any harder, he'd probably have slept him, like Gojo did.
Personally, I believe that he may not get a Domain Expansion. The Black Flash would allow Itadori to use Domain Amplification instead. Not only is that an even bigger counter to Sukuna, allowing for double-penetration (Soul Damage and Ignores CT Enforcement) but it would be the logical next step in Domain Expansion construction. He trained on how to make a Simple Domain with the Soul-Swap. He hasn't learned how to do so yet.

Enlightened wouldn't be right word to describe Yuji's awakening. I think it's more that Yuji has fully grasped the essence of the soul and that's why he awakened.
Buddhism describes enlightenment as - A final blessed state marked by the absence of desire or suffering.
When Gojo awakened its cause he was able to understand and grasp the true essence of cursed energy, once he did that, he felt like he ascended to near divinity, that's why he aologized for not feeling anything towards Riko dying. He was truly enlightened, because at that moment he had no desire to take revenge on Toji.
Yuji's awakening is much more different then achieving enlightenment, he, unlike Gojo, has 2 desires. The first is to save Megumi, the second is to kill Sukuna and hopefully stop the merger. An enlightened being would release himself/herself of desire and suffering to fully grasp their potential but Yuji has avery toxic relationship with suffering so that cuts out how he'd reach enlightenment. I would liken Yuji to Ashura from Ashura's wrath more then i would someone like Buddha because Yuji fully awakened through:
1. Understanding the true essence of the soul
&
2. His intense rage at Sukuna for killing not only Gojo and possessing Megumi, but making Yuji his unwlling accomplice during Shibuya when he massacred half the civilians who were trapped inside the barrier and damn near desroying half the city.
I don't think we'll get an "Honored One" type of moment for Yuji, mostly because Yuji will be to busy caving Sukunas skull in
Him having a ashura moment is honestly better than an honored one moment. I just wanna see sukuna get his assed whooped after killing like 3 of my favorite characters.

I think gojo extra explanation to what happened to make an black flash occur is really interesting. When you takes Yuji's first technique (not cursed technique) that Todo trained him not to do accidentally, his Divergent Fist
Gojo said that that cursed energy along with a physical strike must land 0.000001 seconds of each other, he then goes on to say that his cursed energy could be 3 things after he throws a punch. *1: the energy would strengthen his fist.* *2: crash into his opponent.* *3: do both.*
I think number 3 was what he meant must happen for an black flash to occur. Because even though this could happened at the same time there is that chance that it could be delayed ever so slightly. So when you takes these rules you can see how Divergent Fist would allow someone to hit a black flash at will. How? Its simple really.
Divergent Fist if i remember correctly from Todo is an attack that leaves behind cursed energy that hits you again after Yuji lands a punch on his opponent, this already means that both rule 1 and 2 happen when yuji uses this technique.
Which means if Yuji just closes the gap between rule 2 and him landing his punch a black flash can occur. And I believe that he could do this ever since Hanami after he landed the five black flashes.

Yuji's awakening has to be a massive game changer because right now Gege wouldn't have hyped Sukuna going all out (which he hasn't done yet) as well as the return of Fuga and potential other techniques (fingers elements theory). Gege wouldn't talk about it and then forget it, so we know it's bound to happen at some point, and if it does right now EVERYONE is cooked. Thus, Yuji's awakening has to be good enough to compete with reawakened Sukuna, and if it doesn't put him at this level, then something else (very major) has to happen that could put the brakes on Sukuna.
Peak Yuji is. Heavenly pact body fully awakened. Using the cursed energy of his brothers and Sukuna while having the understanding of souls on par with Kenjaku and Mahito. Unstoppable demon.
