    We spent about 5k on a water extractor we haven't really needed yet. It's true, you don't really need one in the beginning.

    We have a truck mount in a Chevy express that is a pain to work inside because you can’t standup in it. Do you think is possible to do all the jobs with portables and not have a truckmount at all? I would rather have a mid roof van, but Butler only uses Chevy express vans.

    • @TheRestorationContractor
      @TheRestorationContractor  Před rokem

      We didn’t use a truck mount EVER
      You can use portables (we did)
      Short vans suck. We had one when we started out
      As we grew we upgraded to ford transit MID-ROOF
      Short vans aren’t a good long term option
      It may be hard to keep staff working in them
      It is really dangerous to be lifting stuff that heavy bent over like a troll

    My favorite are the Drieaz evolution. I do have the B-air vantage and they’re pretty good and very affordable.

    I have the option to buy 2 used Dri Eaz LGR dehumidifiers 3500hrs on them for $700 each. Good deal, or should I pass?

    So how do you handle bigger jobs? Because i run through 20 to 40 airmovers and 3 to 4 dehus on one job

    Is there any reason I can't use a crawl space dh on a job that's not in a basement? I mean, what's the difference?

    • @TheRestorationContractor
      @TheRestorationContractor  Před rokem

      The dehus for crawlspaces are typically not LGR (low grain depression) and therefore may struggle to dry in certain conditions.
      We had both kinds.

    Reed moisture meters work pretty good for a cheap meter. Portimeter is a great one for around 600 bucks. They take a beating and keep going.

    I’m tired of buying 9v batteries for my moisture meter. Is their any good meters that’s rechargeable or should I buy 9v rechargeable batteries

    We bought all Xpower equipment from airchaser. It's been less than a year l, but so far I love the equipment. 17k for 8 dehus-18 1/3hp air movers - 12 low profile air movers
    Protimeter pin/pinless for $700 protimeter hygrometer-$700, Amazon thermal imaging camera from China $650
    There's a local drying equipment rental place near us that will bring equipment to the job in less than 2 hours. Sometimes he runs deals of only $100/week/dehu.
    Our driease 3000 extractor just sits in the trailer the whole time.

    Could not watch past one minute. Pin moisture meters are the best. Surface meters r o k, but your pin meters are really gon to tell you what the true moisture content is in the materials
