      hahaha. yeah :) With optics / scopes especially, its easy to want to get something that costs as much if not more than what its being mounted to. I own examples on both sides of that extreme. "Cheap" firearm with expensive scope and expensive firearms with "cheap" optics. In my experience, Vortex stuff is quality, wont break the bank and they stand behind their stuff regardless. Ive never had to use their warranty service. PS - Dont look into Surefire if you dont want to see shiny fancy things you "must own". HAHA. Another amazing brand with no BS warranty. I used one of my lights as a hammer. I told them that. I just wanted to pay for the glass I broke. They replaced it for free.

I've been shooting my Red dot 13.9 a lot more lately and this will be the ticket I need to bang steel IPSC at 300 yards in 2Gun MATCH if I want to use my go too 13.9 with red dot . I dont feel like spending 700ish for nice piece of glass with decent mount . I'm gonna order Micro 3x for sure . I'm not in a rush to go buy it so I'm gonna try and wait on a sale

    5:22 definitely a great statement there. picking up my new Holosun AEMS, I'm researching magnifiers and floated Holosun HM3XT and Primary Arms SLx as options. Tactical Rabbi suggested this and of course I went down the review rabbit hole. $325 optic (got it on end-of-year sale) deserves a $300ish magnifier I'd reckon

    Excellent video, I've been looking at buying this for a while and today I was doing my last bit of extra research before going ahead with it. It appears that Holosun has a new version of their 3x magnifier out called the HM3XT (HM3XTI on Optics Planet) that must have been made to compete with the Vortex Micro 3x, it would be neat if at some point you could do a review on that as well. As best as I can tell purely on specs listed online, the Holosun has a smaller field of view at 100 yards, slightly smaller eye relief, and weighs slightly more, but still looks like it would be a viable alternative as a whole.

Main thing I am interested in are the people saying that the 2 moa of the 510C becomes a 6 moa, whereas the EOtech's 1moa center stays 1moa. Also if you could find a way to reflect the starbursting astigmatism causes would be awesome for us less-thans who were born with horrible eyesight

What I love about it is it can be tilted to the side easily with just spring tension no latch to allow my rear iron sight to flip up. 3 sighting options on the same gun without removing anything. I set mine to flip left to prevent brass, lube and carbon from hitting the glass.

    I have this magnifier paired with a Dog Sauer Romeo 5 XDR and it's a fantastic combo. I also have a Holosun HM3X magnifier paired with a Holosun HS503R and, like you said in the review, the reticle in the Holosun isn't quite as crisp and precise as the reticle in the Sig...and it isn't the magnifier because I've paired the Holosun HM3X with the Sig and had the same results. Both are great options, and I'm happy with both Holosun products...but the Romeo 5 XDR paired with this Vortex Micro3X is absolutely fantastic.

      @@CDOES it has a pretty short eye relief, and tight eyebox, kinda like a crappy version of the ta31, glass is fairly clear, and fov seems fine. The mounting leaves a lot to be desired, it has one round "recoil lug" it's really the crossbolt, and will peen the picatinny it's behind if the mount is slighlt loose. The tension is pretty particular to avoid that, mine would adjust out of the perfect amount of tension, so either locktitw and mate it to one particular rail, or routinely tighten it

    I have the same combo sparc ar+ Vortex micro and IAM struggling because astigmatism. It won't correct the dot issues if you have any beware. The eye box is finicky and eye relief is Short so either you colapse your stock more or move it at the end of the rail.

    • @DonRaynor
      @DonRaynor Před 4 lety +1

      Yeah, this is a Real downfall of the Mag. It should come with cantileaver mount,(like it already has the raiser, but on ethat lets it be pushed further back) that would let its base sit further up, while having the Magnifier in more optimal spot, over the BUIS. Then you wouldn't have to collapse stock, or anything.
      Then again if you don't run BUIS, there is no problem. Personally I don't. But I understand people who feel the need to run Back ups to feel safe.

    • @dmcd7333
      @dmcd7333 Před 3 lety +1

      If you have fold down sight on your rifle already and run a red dot as a main. I have found that if you sight your irons say to 50 yards and you are dead on, then you pop your red dot on and put the dot at the tip of your front sight post sight and you are done. Anytime you pop off you red dot, and put it back on your flip up sights you can re zero the red dot without having to fire a shot just by aligning the dot to the flip up sights. And you can run a magnifier behind your red dot with the flip to the side option. Hope this helps and good luck.

I did this and could see the center being thrown off by pushing it. Want to know if this is normal or if I should call vortex. To be fair I pushed it slightly hard and so far still seems to return to center when im not pushing on it.

      @@CDOES I just checked and all the screws are solid. I think maybe I was pushing on it a little too hard maybe. It feels very solid otherwise. I guess I'll just shoot it and see if it goes off center. I meant to add that while It does go off center if I push it, it returns to normal when I take my hand off. Seems like the obvious fix is "dont push it." Haha but wanted to make sure mine didn't have some extra slack.

    I found it interesting that the holographic sight seemed to triple in size under the magnifier. Or is that just me? I was under the impression that holographic were one of the only sights that didn’t magnify the reticle. I actually seemed to notice it less with the red dots. I don’t notice it very much at all with my prism. (Yes the prisms will work with a magnifier if they are set up correctly). Just a heavy heavy combo lol.

    • @CDOES
      @CDOES  Před 3 lety +1

      Holo sights will not increase/decrease in size within themselves. Once you optically magnify them from a outside source, it will indeed get larger. Same goes for red dots. It's harder to see simply because the typical 2moa dot is just so small, even under 3x magnification.
