Star Wars: Republic Commando - Intro

- Star Wars: Republic Commando is a tactical first-person shooter video game, set in the Star Wars universe, released in 2005 and developed and published by LucasArts for the Xbox, Microsoft Windows, and Mobile phone platforms. The game is set during the events of the Clone Wars that started at the climax of the movie Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. In the game, the player takes command of a Clone commando team, made up of elite Clone troopers. These Clone commandos have been specially bred at the clone factories on Kamino. The commando team travels to various locations in the Star Wars universe, including Kashyyyk, Geonosis, and the derelict spacecraft Prosecutor.

This game should have a remaster
its getting one! look it up a studio is doin it by the fans for the fans
Will it be an Xone exclusive or will it also be for the PS4?
It'll only be for the PC.
I wouldn't want EA's dirty paws on it
Blitzkrieg Toast Being fed propaganda will cost you $25, putting on your helmet will cost you $50.
This game should serve as proof that ignoring the prequel universe entirely because of some aspects of the films is a mistake
BTL Y-Wing This is Star Wars for me. The universe in this game is what I think of when I hear Star Wars.
Slime Farm the series was amazing
BTL Y-Wing they actually mention commandos in the movies
Agreed I think besides the old republic the prequel era is my favorite SW era so much great stuff I that era tbh especially RC
The prequels weren't that bad. But anyway the entire clone wars series is proof that the prequel world is cool too.
I love how you nodded at Fixer, Scorch and Sev when they were introduced
i know, that’s what i did my first playthrough. I figured, “hey, these are your squadmates throughout the entire journey, you may as well respect them as they do you”
I did the same :)
It was so funny to me cause I used to do it too😂
It's the law.
And you didn’t?????
Let's just make a movie about Republic Commandos instead of spending money on the new reboots.
If they made a star wars story film (much like rouge one) on republic commandos of delta squad on the live screen that would be hela sick. They could probs center the story near the time of order 66 in the clone war to let a wider range of audience understand the darkness and perhaps the politics behind palpatines rise, while making a cool film regarding the morality and decisions made by delta squad :P
plus a mission impossible style star wars film would be awesome IMO.
Shaky Shadow hopefully it'd have special cameo appearances of both Walon Vau and Kal Skirata and maybe the Null Arcs
Shaky Shadow what would be really cool is a film adaptation of the story to Omega Squad and their defiance of order 66 (but I'm pretty sure they'll have to come up with a new explanation about how they could resist to inhibitor chips)
Jono Hooper even better, they never turned against the Jedi because they never received the instruction to execute order 66
(In a room with only Omega squad none of which have their helmets on)
(Their communicators all ring up)
Sidious: Execute or-...
(All their communicators simultaneously short out)
Omega Squad (standing there awkwardly): What?
Lord Gaben HELL YES!!!!
After playing this game, I have more respect against battle-droids
Fucking B2 Battle Droids... am I right? Scary as shit when I was younger. So strong.
The B1s were scary as hell with that appearance and that robotic voice, instead of the goofy-like voice we have now. B2s were Terminator-like droids. Three of them could wipe the entire squad out if you weren’t careful.
@@avelus5984 "Audio signal detected..."
Droids are actually dangerous, in movies or tv shows we see them from perspective of Jedi like Obi-Wan or Anakin who are at the top of their game, clones, droids and just mooks in general are usually a cannon fodder for them. I remember fights with Magnaguard droids in this game, they are programmed and trained by Grievous and even Jedi have a lot of trouble with them. To beat one was a huuuuuge achievement in this game.
It's only because of The Clone Wars show that everyone thinks battle droids are doofy
This was, hands down, the golden age of Star Wars. Star Wars will never reach this level of epic again.
juresaiyan good thing they’re bringing this back on virtual console
juresaiyan So true...The clone wars series was starting, amazing games were coming one after another....I miss these days
Republic Commando and the original BF2 are hands down the best Star Wars games.
@@avelus5984
The games were pretty much in general ahead of their time, the games you mentioned were the best star wars shooters but you have Empire at War as well that still gets updates nowadays. Since gamespy died they revived MP (the developers) and added steam workshop and is so far the best star wars RTS one can get
That's because multiple studios working on variety of games back in the day instead of being monopolize by one company
2:12 that music though, what makes this game stand out is it's original soundtrack, not using the Starwars theme at all.
I swear the intro still gives me some of the biggest shivers to this day. What a game...what a game...
It uses the starwars theme but your right about the darker and gritty tone of the music
@@william_brobrine8975 It uses Mandalorian (Boba Fett, Jango Fett, most of the Clone army, The Old Republic era, etc) music. The lyrics are sung in a made up Mandalorian language that actually makes quite a sense and there are really solid translations around :D
This scene in general... The music... The gunships... The military shouting
True men sing Vode An
Hearing that sound effect in Bad Batch was amazing
Sure. Never thought that sound could come back in many years
what sound?
Yeah, what sound?
@@captainflowers748 Watch the episode where Hunter is shot by Cad Bane, when wrecker gets him up you hear the beeping sound effect from this video.
Specifically it's the suit bootup sound that plays every time your suit powers up. You hear it at the start of missions and when you get bacta IIRC. Someone clipped it:
czcams.com/video/EmtJXYKxAUA/video.html
What's even cooler is the bad batch really faithfully recreated the HUD. Crosshairs in the center, target in sight indicators to the sides, shields recharging. It's pretty clear that whoever animated that scene loved the game.
This intro is amazing

When boss puts on his helmet, it reminds me of Noble 6 in Halo Reach.
It was cool fact that you can move your little arms as baby in this capsule. And look arround too^^

This dark and mature tone of Star Wars is what I love about it, especially the Clones. If only they could make a gritty real show or movie with these brothers. !!!
There's books
fr ive been thinking a show like that would do so well. The Mandalorian is the closet thing we've got so far.
@@brysonbridges1496 Exactly. The clones and Thrawn are really underused and underappreciated by the general public. If The Mandalorian gets so big, then a movie or show with these guys should get at least triple the amount of praise. Idk what is wrong with Lucasfilm priorities. But the sequel trilogy proves there are incompetent people there. So i dont keep my hopes up.
Star wars the clone wars 2008 :am i a joke to you
@@contreshtaplishmints6821 We only got TWO arcs with them in the spotlight and one of them focused more on Ahsoka and Order 66

Damn it I respected them then but didn't nod dang
I also like how Sev nods back
I thought I was the only one that did that.
"You have been born into dangerous times, a sharp mind could be the key to survival."
Chills, every fucking time.
With the eerie ambient music in the background, that scene is perfection. As I have said in my comment, Star Wars was at it's height during this time and I stand firmly by this conviction.
Such a simple line mixed with the soft, eerie them can tell such a powerful story. War is coming, and you were born just to fight in it. The melancholy, yet determined theme is almost mourning the life you will never get to live, but is still filled with resolve to see your duty fulfilled.
@@juresaiyan So true, ner vod!
Watching the cloning facility at he's prime after the latest Bad Batch episode makes me really really sad...the clones, along with the Jedi and the Republic, are now just a forgotten relic.

Star Wars: Imperial Commando..... only a man could dream

so eerie and genius using palpatine’s theme in the background at 2:45, talking about how war has come to the galaxy when he actually is puppeteering both sides of the war.

love this game with a passion
It never gets old
Back when games didn’t need DLC to be awesome they came perfect like this
For sure!
''You will be superior to your more common brethren''
That one commando that got shot by the TKs in the Bad Batch:
*_Those bastards lied to me!_*
Bad Batch were a commando unit too, so it makes sense
I want a movie on clone commandos
Every cultured person does
Farewell Taun We 😔 RIP
I love this game when it came out. The abandoned ship mission is my favorite. It had an eerie feel to it especially when you start seeing survivors dying. My only issue with the game is that your whole team can perform the same special tasks like demo, hacking, and sniping. So I ended up seeing the sniper doing the hacking instead of the actual hacker doing the task he's good at. This made each team member less unique.
To be fair, as Delta Squad is special forces (Like US Army Special Forces) I’d presume they can adequetly perform other duties besides just their own. (such as First Aid, Heavy Weapons, Radioman/Communications, etc.). I wouldn’t be surprised if the Kaminoains and the Cuy'val Dar didn’t have the Commandos trained like that.
They are supposed to be able to do those things by themselves. It makes sense, if they get separated you really think only 1 guy should know how to wire charges to clear debris or something?
I think even the game mentions during loading screens on the republic cruiser missions that they are supposed to operate alone just as well as in a team.
Besides you fight your way through a great deal of it before finding the rest of your squad, giving an example already that they can do everything. I guess it is more of a "I like this role the most" rather than "only I can fill that role". Or that each of them can do something better than the other but that doesn't mean that the others are incapable of anything else.
@@TheValentineEnemy never played this game but kinda like switching jobs?
@@mistylover7398 in the game you can give them orders like taking a spot for sniping, blowing up debris or opening doors, the 3 commandos can all do this tasks regardless of the specific clone, even if they have a specialty like demolitions or sniping according to the games story
I got this recommended to me after watching EP15 of the Bad Batch
This shit was emotional.
In a fight who would in delta squad or clone force 99?
@@nerdgeekcosplay909 honestly, none rlly.

The way she talks about being a piece of a whole person, being a twin i felt that DEEPLY. Can only imagine how other twins, triplets or quadruplets feel about that.
I think game realy deserved remastered version, with co-op option and better graphics, which would save grim style of RC.
Kinda love co op in games.
1:08 The iconic scene that Doom and Halo copied
I am Doom
For you are a commando, something truly special....
Just like chief. Thanks mom.
As a kid the electric wiper blade on the helmet just immediately blew me away, I loved being able to see the inside of the helmet and how they incorporated it into the game by having it be your HUD as well.
1:09
This moment was so badass that even Doom, the All-Father of all shooters, made a reference to this scene in Doom 2016
You mean DOOM eternal?
They also did that in the Halo Reach intro. When I saw it I immediately thought of SWRC
Who's here after that one comment after taun we death

Sadly i was too young when it came out, but I just got the remaster and love it.
All of this is now gone.... RIP
Algorithm is about to hit this hard
It truly deserves a sequel, remaster and TV show
The republic fleet mobilizing is my favorite video game scene, I was amazed when it came out, just the way the LAATs landed and the acclimator loads troops all while your visor wipes away rain drops.
I feel like a PS4 updated graphics version of this game would be awesome. I loved this game so much back in the day
Fuck ps4 it belongs on pc
no fuck that a pc updated
awsomebro6000 it belongs in all consoles...who gives two fucks we all avoid each other anyways
Saying it needs to go to a certain system is stupid because I absolutely hate exclusives to certain consoles, it's specifically the reason I didn't get ps4 cause all the company's catering to Sony cause they have money is complete bullshit while the other people with other systems are in the back row seat and don't get nothin out of it.
Neon Vader Thats basically exactly what I said...
I'm feeling nostalgic. I remember watching the original 2004 teaser and thinking "this looks so cool and different from all the other Jedi focused games". And then I played and loved it. Even my dad did. Despite being helmeted all the time, the clones grew on me. Super battle droids were actually intimidating death dealing machines that would continue shooting even on the ground. B1 Battle droids could be taken seriously without that annoying voice they gave them in ROTS and TCW. Trandoshans were brutal. This game and Bounty Hunter were the closest we've gotten to seeing the grittier, darker, more "mundane", if you will aspects of the Star Wars universe.
There's enough interest, I believe, among the adult gamer sector for a more adult-oriented Star Wars game. Enough with the up-and-coming teenaged Padawans swinging lightsabers around.
Anyone else watching this after the bf2 commando release???
I've been here long before that game existed

The best intro in the history of Star Wars.
Rogue One should of had an intro like that.
It’s bittersweet seeing this after Bad Batch season finale
This game deserves a complete remake.
What does she say at 1:20?
"The ??? of our world hunt in pods to bring down much larger prey."
The aiwhas, a sort of giant manta ray of Kamino, used as a mount ;)
And pod is the term given to social grouping of various creatures in SW, that's why Kaminoans use frequently the word "pod" to describe a group of clone troopers who were grown, trained, and deployed as a single unit, like this commando, inspired by the aiwhas :D

I remember just the screen. I was so involved in the game I probably couldn’t see anything but the screen. This is the best intro to any video game ever created in the history of mankind to me. I’m so happy to watch this.
You can play it on the Xbox One now.

Each time I watch this I laugh because the person playing nods at the other members of Delta. Of all the times I've played, I've never thought to reciprocate their salutes. Just shows how different people play 😃
I remember first getting this game... it was great.
Loved this game. This was during the time before we had the Clone Wars series and so there was still a great deal of mystery and intrigue surrounding the Clones. Don't get me wrong, I love Clone Wars and the Bad Batch, but I do miss that time period when we didn't know so much about them and were craving more.
I didn't have the opportunity to play this videogame when it came out.
I believe I played it one decade after release and let me tell you, I had the same experience, if not better, than I would have had one day one. This game is proof that good works do not age.
The part where he had his helmet reminded me of Doom 2016 when Doomguy suited up.
The part where he had his helmet reminded me of Star Wars Republic Commando when Delta 38 suited up
Also reminds me of Halo Reach when Noble 6 puts on his helmet in the beginning.

You have to remember that this came out in an earlier time so of course the graphics don't look great by today's standards but they were great back in its day.

That music that plays as the text reads “War has come to the Galaxy” never fails to give me chills.
That opening with the LAATs coming down was the most badass ship with Vode'An in the background.
