The world misses you Jim! Glad to have you for the time we did!
I have a good feeling about this paint job and the lack of flaws. If you do get one it will be a act of God.
Jim, you have excellent taste in rehydration liquids. That said all your other choices must be spot on as well.
Thank you kindly
The first coat of paint is a beautiful thing
good work , like that carpet idea .
I never watch a 50 min. video, but I just could not stop watchin' this one. Totally fascinatin', and some great knowledge passed on to us. Very nice work, very nice results. Hopin' for the best with the clear. Good luck.
I appreciate you sticking with us through the whole video! Don’t want to spoil todays video, but the clear came out awesome
@@jimbennettshotrods5730 Exactly as I would expect, considering who painted it.
One of, if not the best, explanations of the steps needed to get a top quality paint job done on your car.
Thank you for that!
I am also a user of the glass cleaner you have, works great on glue. Inspection stickers cleaning up the scrape off, quick acting.
Very nice sir!!
So much involved in a paint job , not just another Earl Shieb one
From back in the day: “Earl Shieb, paint any car any color for $29.95. In by nine out by five.
OK, I’m old enough to remember certain cars from when they were just used British cars. A high school friend of mine had his Jaguar XK120 done there. They didn’t even wash the dirt off the doors.
Nice to have for the first time a clear and complete explanation on the prep required for success.
I have a 68 mustang that's been in the bodyshop for the past 3 1/2 years. They haven't even started on it. And I've already paid them $12000 up front. I need to go get it and my money.
Excellent spray paint educational video Jim. I can’t wait to see this Mustang at the end when it’s fully restored 👍
Great video Jim! Glad to see there's still some "real" bodymen left!!! (1 coat, drink 1, smoke 1, next coat etc......)
Right on!
Lol it's the only way. 👍
it really is a great way to judge time
great video thanks for sharing
Great show, good info
You sir, seem to do a good thorough job with all what you are showing us here on video. Very happy to see work getting done with passion. I guess, this is the main reason I keep following your channel (after Tony brought me here).
Not gotten into body painting yet, I leave this to a person I trust for now. No clean room here for body painting yet. But when I am about to paint on the underbody after cleanup and repairs, I am always a bit afraid of "the point of no return" when prepping for paint. Had to giggle when you brought that up.
Quality content. Very informative. 👍
That was excellent! Thanks guys
Our pleasure!
I’m speechless but again great video 👍🏻👍🏻
These priceless videos to me, like and sharing as always. Thanks for your time and consideration in making these as usual.
Lots of great and practical info. Thanks for taking the time to share; it's much appreciated. Last year I purchased the 3M PPS 2. O system, I absolutely love it; it's easy to clean and straightforward to setup.
P.s. The car is going to Rock!
it really is a good system. I have not tried it for base or clear, but I know folks who have and they love it
Lots of great content Jim.Nice job on explaining. I work on carpet all the time I have a dirt floor and helps alot with my back and my tools were I'm not dragging them through the dirt.Nice job man. Office carpet seems to last longer. Most carpet stores have scaps for free.
i wish id have used it years ago, its really a very simple and effective solution to dust, the bane of a painters existence.
@@bennettshotrodgarageclassi7068 AGAIN great video. 👍
I appreciate the info, I agree with all of it, you guys have an awesome thing going on... But crack kills 😂😂😂
Jim! This is the first time I saw you paint a car. You do a very good job very throurough and you don't cut corners like a shady body shop or a mechanics shop. If I had such a car, I'd want to get it painted by you. I really like your work! I just don't understand the carpet in a spray booth, sounds counterproductive? You can be walking around painting a car in there and raising dust or lint from the carpet????? Please explain this new process about the carpet. Again, really great job painting! I want that red mustang lol!!!!
We vacuum with extreme predudice after spraying anything
20:25 I thought that was a poster hanging on the wall......
Jut Matt, lol
Thanks for the Content. You are an artist. and Foose who???
lol, thanks man!
😎👍👌🖖✌🤓
Shouldn’t doors, hood, fenders, trunk and car all be painted at the same time for consistency? Especially with a metallic?
yes, on pearls and metallics for sure! everything can affect those kinds of paints. A good rule of thumb is to combine however much paint you buy. If Skippy at the paint store is off buy the smallest fraction on the mix, multiple gallons, quarts, pints, can be off. For non- metallic and non pearl colors youre generally safe. I pay close attention to temp, air pressure at the gun tip and keep those numbers consistent at all times. I choose to paint like this to avoid any tape lines whatsoever. It will be obvious the car has been painted because of the quality, but avoiding tape lines is a must on quality work.
Can you rescue my 71 Cuda from body shop jail? It’s on a rotisserie and has zero rust. Needs panels gaped and paint. It’s in North Carolina?
I can, but transporting a car on a rotisserie is bad. It wold have to be on a dolly, which I have
wow! No paint suit not even a hat to cover hair getting in paint! real careful !
i do my best not to drag my hair in it, and generally, im not doing anything dusty before i paint
@@bennettshotrodgarageclassi7068 lint on your clothing and static electricity from your clothing., your skin and eyes absorb paint and it very bad for you. A simple paint suit and goggles would help. its the small details that make the big differences. I wont even get into your gun choice or the fact that you use the same gun for sealer paint and clearcoat.. so many mistakes I cant name them all but dude you got to tighten up if you want to be a pro. keep trying but you will make alot of mistakes if you shun good advice.
@@dhaley8847 ok. they are called isocyanates, well aware of the effects, I've been painting for forty plus years. I use the same gun for paint and clear, a totally different set up for sealers and primers. The gun I use for base and clear performs as well as any gun I've ever used. A high end/high priced gun doesn't make a good painter, technique does. What works for one person doesn't always work for another. Everyone makes mistakes, and we have taken steps to eliminate them. Our cars have won multiple awards in multiple categories, including multiple paint awards, but the best award is always the customers ultimate satisfaction with his or her car. I have never shunned good advice and never will. As far as achieving a pro status goes, that's a very subjective point. Based on your comments, I believe that you believe you are. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
OMG this is painful to watch!!!!!!! carpet on the floor! is just dumb!
do a little research and youll find out some knowledge before just mouthing off
@@bennettshotrodgarageclassi7068 I have been in the body shop business for 44 years and painted more cars than you will ever paint! I have 23 ICAR credits and I own 2 body shops!
by the way you should be using wax and grease remover before you sand it and final wipe before you paint it bu I will not waste my time on you because the things you dont know are numerous!
@@dhaley8847 yet, you just did Skippy. Let me guess, parts replacement tech at service king?
@@dhaley8847 good for you
