    I am on my second Gladiator, my first was an Overland, which had the full side steps on it stock, but that step really cut down on any splash up onto my paint from the tire. My new Gladiator which is Rubicon without the full side steps and just the rock rails allows everything from that front tire to come right up onto the paint, it has chipped my door hinges more than anything. As far as tires go, I really like the Falken Wildpeak as well, but I am not seeing a very long tread life out of them on my gladiators as well, and maybe its just the Gladiator that is hard on tires.

    2 of my falkens had to be replaced at about 30k miles because they wore super prematurely. When its time to replace the full set I definitely plan on getting a 35x11.5

      Such you had that happen. But the 35x11.50 is an awesome tire size and now falken makes the rt and the at4 in that size. I will be going with one of them next

    Love your road noise simulation. It was spot on. 😂 You should try the Kelly Edge MT in a 12.50. that's what I have on my Rubicon Gladiator and I have 47k on them and have been to pretty much every off road park in Texas and they are still with a lot of life tread on them. I've been in mud pits clear up to the fender well and have crawled right out in 4 low and locked lockers from and back. Impressive tires in my opinion

    I totally agree with you, I carry around 200lbs of Kansas sod on my 23 JT and when my 12.50's are ready to be changed I'm doing the same thing you did. I told the dealer what my plan was and you could see the disgust on his face. Who cares, I'm more interested in function than flash.

    • @SamkoWorkShop
      @SamkoWorkShop  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Agree. I've had people at gas stations and restaurants in jeeps tell me I need wider tires and it would look amazing. Both times I said look under yours and then look under mine. They did. I asked what the difference was. Neither had a clue. I said mines covered in mud and dirt, yours looks like it never left the pavement, when you start going off road you will understand. 🤣

      Same here. The 12.5 to 13.5 made a huge difference on dirt and rocks and huge difference in snow. These pattern tests are tricky as every tire is also different and flat versus rock wrapping is subjective. Except actually just have 8”:rocks constantly versus flatter dirt or rocks is more realistic.
      But, this is real trail riding so we know what it is.

      Good question. Biggest fear is I'd rip them off in the ruts and holes. Flexible ones might work. Had those on my tacoma and they did well but got real bent out of shape and had to keep reshaping with a heat gun.

    I have a Ridge Grappler 35x11.5r17 on my JLU, stock rims, plus 1.75" wheel spacers. They're grippy AF on and off road but E rated. On a light rig like my JLU, it makes for a rough ride. Wish I had gotten the Toyo AT3s in a lower load rating. My rig would ride so much better but now I got another 20-25k miles before I can replace them or my wife may divorce me for spending even more money on mods for rhis rig. 😂

    • @SamkoWorkShop
      @SamkoWorkShop  Před 24 dny

      Might be the wheel spacers making the rough ride. They are known to vibrate and shake on the pavement. These toyos are nice tires. But after a lifetime of e rated I think I want to go back to E next time.

    I run 315/70 and there less than a 1/4 height difference from 35’s on stock rims

    • @SamkoWorkShop
      @SamkoWorkShop  Před 4 měsíci +2

      I believe the minimum rim width for a 315x70x17 is 8.5. The stock wheels are only 7.5. That can lead to some problems, especially for tire wear and with me being a high mile driver I can't afford the tire wear.
