- I finally caught up with "Jurassic", a 7x7 bull elk that has evaded me a few times. His raspy but high-pitched bugle and palmed out 7x7 rack is how he got his name. He is a smart one and only showed himself at 40 yards 2 years ago. I didn't find him last year but this season he is back. I couldn't convince him during archery season to come out of his hiding place but muzzleloader season will give me another shot. Good luck old friend! Until we meet again!

I haven't seen him in three years. Last time he crossed right in front of me chasing four cows. Others seen him with huge harem. He is huge and very smart.
It wasn't until I made this video and listened at a higher volume that I realized there was another bull above me. I thought this when I was filming and hunting but didn't hear it on the footage. The bulls were just getting ready to party but I didn't see one cow the whole weekend. Maybe "Jurassic" already had them down below with him but he came from a long ways away originally. He is most likely the herd bull at 350+ but who knows, maybe there is an even bigger bull in the area and he was trying to steal some cows. I hope I get to find out during muzzleloader elk season!
