    Good shot but the lack of penetration is concerning. Was it a mechanical broadhead?

    • @theincredible9168
      @theincredible9168 Před rokem +3

      Why is that always the go to for little penetration? Could have been an arrow with 12% FOC.
      My current set up is a 372 grain arrow, 24.5% FOC, going 310 fps, using a swat 4 blade mechanical, and I penetrated through the spine of a whitetail. I think the main focus should be FOC.
      The only concern I have with mechanical are the ones that open on impact. My current one are like a swhacker, which open after penetration. Also, there are mechanicals with cut on contact tips.
      Majority of yall have gotten your information from the eye doctor study. While it is a good starting point and works, remember, he used wooden recurve bows. His bow speeds are unmatched to today's compounds. Also, his study done on light arrows (400 grains) the FOC was way lower than his heavy 650+ set ups. All he increased was tip weight because that's all he could do. Today with our carbon shafts, I can build an arrow 400 grains, with 30% FOC. Just something to think about.

      @@NUBS115 I can agree with that. I also want to mention that my buddy shot a doe in the spine with a single bevel cut throat, total arrow weight was 515 grains, using a easton axis arrow. He bareshaft tuned, nocked tune and broadhead tune. His arrows was flying perfect and hit the target straight on. It still didn't pass all the way through. Then my arrow, 372 grains with a mechanical penetrated the same.
      Let's not forget that Josh bowmar and Levi Morgan killed two of the biggest brown bears with a a mechanical, and their is footage of it.

      @@theincredible9168 bow hunter for 32 years. Mechanicals take kinetic energy to open which affect penetration. And if the blades don't open in unison ( depending on the type) the arrows energy is no longer center of gravity and the force is sideways once again affecting penetration.
