I have braces and in my opinion the first time getting them it HURTS SO MUCH for like a week or so and it feels like big things are on your teeth and feels uncomfortable but then you won't feel anything in your mouth

My friend holly back in 6th grade always made me smile for her when i got my braces on. She made such a fuss over them saying how good i looked with braces on 😂 also, after i brush my teeth i always crave ice water, it feels so good and refreshing

It's like between grades 4-8 everybody's getting braces so it's pretty normal and nobody really makes fun of you for having braces
Watching this, I'm glad I never had my teeth fixed. They're fine the way they are. Kids often mess up their retainers. Making it worse & having more teeth & mouth problems. For me, so long as I can chew, I do my hygiene. I dont have the problems with my teeth and mouth unlike many of the same age.
We're starting to look into getting braces for our daughter. She's turning 12 soon and her final adult teeth are making their way in. She wants the Invisalign style braces, and I am leaning that way for several reasons, mainly because she has ADHD and I think it will be impossible to make sure she stays up on the upkeep for traditional braces. Are there any downfalls to the Invisalign type of braces?

Honestly don't get invisalign. I have it and am changing to traditional braces for various reasons. It doesn't live up to the hype it gets!!

I had these palet-expanders (spelling?) and oh boy I can tell you they *hurt* . My mom had to turn the thingy in my mouth because I just couldnt. That was the most painful part of my braces-days. Now a decade later I still have these little wires behind my teeth instead of retainers. Most of the time I even forget they are there.

I had a girl in choir who was ACROSS THE ROOM from me and could hear her saying "oh ny gosh, I cant sing." When I got my braces I was worried that I wouldnt be able to sing and then found out that she was just trying tl get attention.
Why would she want everyone to know that she had braces? Jeez I didn’t want anyone to know, I don’t smile with my teeth and I never smiled with my teeth when I had braces, if you looked at all my school pictures from when I had braces you would never know, I have no pictures of me with braces showing, there is no picture evidence, and unlike the Bentist said, I never loved them because I had them twice EVEN THO I WORE THE RETAINERS
I'm not THAT girl, but if I was in choir, I think I'd suffer the entire 1 or 2 weeks I get my braces. I got them 4 weeks ago with a palate expander and holy SHIT I could not speak comfortably for ages, not to mention the excess saliva and everything. I'd have to take a break from choir or smth lmao
The expander sucks, but once I've gotten used to it I only slur on a few letters. That girl was probably wanting attention, but imagine being in choir with an expander 😬, I could and would never. Props to you for going through choir with braces though, even if it isn't all too hard according to you

@@harrypawter4394 the only frustration with expanders is at the beginning it's hard to figure out where to rest ur tongue, how to speak with ur tongue, and food constantly getting stuck in the gap. The excess saliva is prob smth everyone experiences at first. My biggest complaint bout expanders, forever will be the *tightening* .
On Monday, I had to my orthodontist to see how the progress is going, and then they proceeded to tighten it 5-10 times in a row. Call me weak but I shed a few tears once I was back in the car. Good thing is I won't be tightening it for another 9 weeks.
But yeah, I'm praying to the high fucking heavens that I'll be able to take care of them properly and that I'll get good results

I always wanted to become a dentist ever since I was 10. Until this one day. I’m terrified of them. They once let me go to the restroom before I got my filling. I was really constipated so I said it will take a while. After 15 minutes, they knocked on the door. They got me out of the restroom then strapped me down even though it wasn’t my fault. Worst dentist appointment ever! (This took place after I wanted to become a dentist.)

Palate expanders are not to be messed with ._. I had one that was screwed into the roof of my mouth, couldnt chew food on the teeth it was attatched to for a week. Because of my small mouth the turning implement sat really close to the roof, each time we turned it, the wrench thingy ground into the roof of my mouth ;-; By the end of the expansion the pressure on my upper jaw and teeth was so intense i couldnt turn it without anaesthesia. All because i didnt have 2 baby teeth out early enough because a school dentist said it was fine..it wasnt.
One time I turned the expander 1o times, i was susppposto turn it 2 time. THAT WAS HELL
