- One of the first things ya'll said when Unifi came out with the G5 Ultras was "what's up with these dongles?!" Well, Unifi has a solution! This Junction Box allows you mount these cameras to drywall, masonry, pretty much anything, without having to drill a massive hole for the dongle.

I am so disappointed that these cameras have those 'dongles'. I am happy I learned here, and not by buying one first. That has been one thing that I have loved about the Unifi Protect cams versus Hikvision, Reolink, Lorex, etc. It's unfortunate they are going in this direction... hopefully it is not widespread & domes/bullets are safe...?
This is the normal format for Turrets.
If only it were ever in stock. Currently, none of the mounting aids are available in the Ubiquiti NA store, or have been for weeks.
Yeah they definitly are having supply issues with these. That should improve over time..
Hi, both links are failing, maybe the store its updated, but I see junction available in EU store under "Camera Compact Junction Box" name.
@@DavorPeic I will update
Whats the total height measured from the wall to the tip of the camera?
Those bloody cheap, chinese leads with socket (you are calling it a dongle) are a bloody great PITA. That being said, trying to fit off a data cable and then trying to route it into the camera and through the water-tight gland that then you need to push back up sleeve all while trying to push excess back into mounting or conduit under the small side cutout that pinches any outdoor rated cable meaning you have to loosen the whole mount off.... Getting my point yet?
Pole Mount Brackets - People, throw them in the bin. They are now using cast ally and they are weaker than plastic and break before being tight enough.
As for the mounting, cheap little stainless screws that won't fit Philips drivers properly, and shear off at slightest bit of torque. Hint, small fiddly parts while up a ladder suck balls.
All good points, but this is a pretty well built kit and went up easily.
Let's hope Ubiquiti can do away with that dongle and massive junction box arrangement on the G6 Turret. Axis domes have an RJ45 socket on the back of the camera inside the case.
Doubt it, they went with a smaller design for these and a cheaper camera overall, all cameras I have used in this price range had tails. Hikvision / Duhala / Reolink and more. Its cheaper to do it this way and this was half the point of this model was to be cheaper and smaller. So quite common to see this design around, the junction box also helps place the camera away from the wall for any IR reflection at certin angles.
Do you know what the foam thingy is on the back of this box. I've received mine and i don't know if i should remove it
Don't remove it, it's a gasket
sry. but its the same link on top and I can´t find the junctionbox..

is the thread NPT so it works with conduit adapters?
I believe so
What size conduit dose them holes line up for, probably not our British 20, 25, 32 ? Nice video btw
I'm not sure how it works on your side of the pond
@@DPCTechnology fair enough but even being in the uk store I’ve been shipped US and EU products 😂it would be handy if they it out conduit sizes but I’m sure I can get your random 🤣conduit sizes over here heheh
