      Maybe. But I have not experienced it to date. This is my forth lotus bought from new, and apart for a boot catch adjustment on my exige 410, they have all gone through their warranty period pretty well faultless. I’ve had all but the emira on track many many times. You think the track would exploit any significant issues if there were any. I don’t doubt that there will be some issues in things like electronic handbrake release, or electric seat failure, but major things such as gearbox, engine or drivetrain issue don’t seem to be a factor from what I’ve read in the comments. I also have an amg45 and a couple of Porsches since new, and all of them have had major warranty repair in things such as steering rack failure, gearbox lock ups, and multiple annoying engine sensor failures. So I get the irritation of car bit failures regardless of the significance of them. I don’t have the time to take an any car back multiple times whether it be it for an engine failure or a fuse short. So I get it why someone would cancel their order based on such a podcast. And that’s fair enough. I would have done the same if I was a first time lotus buyer.
      On another note. I did also own a lotus esprit v8. I loved that car. But it made me cry and broke my heart several times. It was worse than dating a supermodel. At least they only leave you stranded in a restaurant on your own(or so I’ve been told). The title of you pod is probably a bit harsh. But then again, if you don’t like to post, don’t open it. I wish you well.
      Ps. By the way. I do like the you reply. Very elegant and professional. The way a person would reply to someone facing them and no hiding behind a keyboard. Good enough reason to to keep watching your pods.

    I've had an Emira for 8 months. I've had a the safety recall on the a-pillar trim and a software update and no faults. I think this video is pretty unfair. Lotus, a relatively low-volume sports car manufacturer, have built a brand new production line FROM SCRATCH (I've been and seen it) on which to build a brand new, extremely desirable sports car. It's an amazing feat and of course there were bound to be some teething troubles. Demand for the car has been greater than Lotus could have imagined and I had to wait 21 months for mine. Some owners have had issues and those that have are mainly niggles (a lot I heard was down to the early days when BCA were doing the pre-delivery inspections for those cars that were delivered direct to customers). Owners were desperate to get their hands on their cars and maybe some corners were cut with regards to software etc but I find the general tone of this video absolutely ridiculous. The language used and the points raised are completely sensationalist and would have you believe that every car and every owner has had unbelievable number of problems. Rich just comes across as a bitter non-owner who either couldn't wait or had his finance plans messed up (he's even done a video telling you how the values are going to drop through the floor so he has previous form for his negativity). He even admits he's only going by what he's read on line, and as we know, most things posted on forums are due to a minority of people highlighting or trying to resolve issues, whereas the majority of owners won't have had any so won't even be on the forums. The way he goes on you'd think no other manufacturers have any problems, especially with new cars - I've had recalls and issues with cars from major manufacturers that I'd say were more unacceptable due to the number of vehicles they produce. The guy just wants 'clicks' for his channel. I could look into issues with loads of cars and make videos about them that would sound just as bad. Like I said, he must be really bitter because why would he waste of his time to be posting videos about a car he doesn't own and has no experience of? And I'm annoyed that I wasted my time watching and responding to it but thought it needed a response from someone that knows the car. I absolutley love mine and it gets so much positive feedback from everyone that sees it. Enjoy whatever you end up with Rich and heaven forbid if you have any kind of problem with it!

      Where have I ever said I don’t like the Emira? Maybe you need to actually watch and listen to the video properly?
      I’m detailing Only Facts and have always said I really like the car…the issues are in relation to how it has been delivered to the market.
      However with 74 Emira’s currently being marketed on AT alone with many low mileage under 70k now…why would you possibly spend 85k+ on a new one?!!

    • @jtothepmusic

      @@RichReviews_ where did I say you said you didn't like the Emira? I don't need to watch your video but I did watch it. If you actually spoke to some owners you may find that their experience has been completely different to what you make out that everyone is going through. Also, I don't actually care how many are on AT and if you can pick one up for £65k why don't you do it? I haven't lost a penny on mine. You need to find something else to moan about or put your money where your mouth is and buy one and talk from experience, not just from what you've seen or read on the Internet. I don't know why you have such an axe to grind with Lotus when you don't even own an Emira.

    Your personal problems with Lotus seem to have resulted in a set of rather overblown videos - given the place they were in before launching the Emira (and a few global events), nothing you're describing should be too much of a surprise. Whilst Lotus are transforming themselves, they aren't about to turn into Porsche overnight (thankfully!), so owners of a brand new model should go in with their eyes open. That said, the car is a stunner, and a joy to drive - and a unique presence on the road. Go in with the expectations of buying something exotic (which inevitably needs a little more attention than just driving it off the forecourt and expecting never to visit the dealer again), and you'll have a great experience.

    They seem minor. Porsche didn't tell anyone about IMS bearing failures, bore score, oil pump failures in the 991 that seize the engine. Merc AMG don't tell you about the $150k repair bill when a small part in the engine fails. Double vanos failures in BMW to start with so many monumental engine failures. These issues are trivial in front of its german rivals.

    To be honest this appears like a very sensationalist review, and the CAPS on "SAFETY" and "COMPLAINTS" make it more apparent. A some points: 1. This is a niche car on relative small production numbers. 2. A smaller brand is building it, which is not Toyota or Honda, or Porsche. 3. Any new car will have some glitches, even from major brands. In fact I have a first year model Lexus and I am dealing with several issues. Perhaps Lotus will have more issues on their first model cars given it's a smaller brand with less resources; this is unfortunately expected, it's realistic, otherwise you are kidding yourself. Lotus probably tried their best, but their best is not good enough compared to the major mass market brands. I actually applaud them for still buying manual cars. 4. A lot of the things you mentioned are software issues, who cares so long the car does not go on limp mode, they will improve them with time with ECU flashes. 5. A lot the hardware issues you mentioned are easy fixes. You forgot to mention that many, if not most of the car parts are not made my Lotus, they are made by third party suppliers like most automakers. Remember the cars will be under warranty. Yes it will be annoying to get it back to the dealer but you will not have pay for the actual parts. 6. Not everyone (or highly unlikely) will suffer from all issues you mentioned, and by now many are already likely fixed (you even mentioned it). 7. When you talk bad about something, you should also mention the positives to give an overall picture to your listeners, otherwise you are doing them a disfavor and bias them. Overall, the reviews of the car have been very positive. 7. You forgot to mention that the most (or one of the most) important parts of the car, the DRIVETRAIN, is from Toyota. Therefore it will likely be super reliable. 8. Once the initial issues are fixed, this car will be one of the best sports cars in the market, given the looks, the relative lightness, the reliable drivetrain and driving dynamics that Lotus is known for (that you also forgot to mention). I'm all for free speech. It ss ok to criticize a company, but to be honest your review appears very biased. The CAPS give the impression that it is just one more tactic to get clicks. For everyone, if you want super reliable or more generic looking car, of live to far away from a dealer, buy a Toyota or a Porsche (I also have a 911 and the alternator (not made by Porsche) just failed FYI).

    • @CarlosAndCars
      @CarlosAndCars Před 5 měsíci +6

      @@RichReviews_ Flawed logic again. You buy a new car because the 15-20K does not bother you based on your wealth or singular economic state. For you, that may a large amount of money or irracional, but for many people is not, and that's ok: we in the west by the most part live in a free societies and people should be able do with the money with they want. You buy a new car because you can spec the car exactly the way you wanted, or otherwise have to settle with something different (color, seats, transmission, interior trim and like 15 other things). You buy a new car because you don't want one may have had a harsh life, with unknowns despite accident and other registries. You buy a new car perhaps because advantageous tax purposes legally in your jurisdiction. You buy a new car because you want to have the new dream toy and not wait. You buy a new car because you simply can afford it. All of those and more are are valid reasons. I actually usually don't buy new cars but I don't criticize people that do it in general, or openly imply that I am smarter than them. Moreover, you now come and say "they are falling through the floor", when pretty much cars depreciate except ultra limited / numbered special editions in certain brands. Oh man, are you really a car guy???? I can't believe you actually make car content material

      The other way you could look at this is that you have a Ferrari 458 sat in your garage. A lot of us who have bought Emiras would probably love a 458 but it's out of reach so we've kind of bought our dream car in the form of the Lotus - and most of us love it. So to have someone in your position waging war on the car (and company) that a lot of us real owners loves makes you come across as a bit of a ****. Why aren't you out enjoying your 458 which has also probably taken a bit of a hit on depreciation? That defies logic@@RichReviews_

    I smell a whiff of bitterness...
    Mine is on the way - I've been an avid follower of the forum and there's not that much moaning tbh - and a good friend already has one - without issue.
    I'm expecting the odd problem - because I'm as fussy as f... - but they'll be minor niggles.
    I can live with that - look at the bloody thing... 😍

      The facts are facts, freely available in the public domain. The comments don’t dispute the facts, they dispute the concern and are mostly from owners who aren’t happy their cars have suddenly dropped 20k.

    • @meenboli
      @meenboli Před 3 měsíci +1

      All cars in that price bracket have dropped by a similar amount. Nothing to do with Emira issues.
      Industry drop in the last 3 months of 2023 was 17.8%
      There's no reason why the Emira would be immune to that - even Porsche have suffered the same problem and they are notoriously robust.
      I quote:
      [Derren Martin, head of valuations at Cap HPI, said: “It is not uncommon for values to drop in November, with movements of 3.1% in 2014, 2.6% in 2015 and 3.0% in 2020, although there have also been some stronger years when volumes were lower, particularly over the last two years.
      “This year is, however, the largest drop going into December that we have on record. There is no escaping that a realignment, not a crash, is ongoing.” ]

    • @RichReviews_
      @RichReviews_  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I agree...again, I am just stating the facts. It is not normal for cars to be an appreciating asset; however for the good or bad of it, many bought the Emira in the hope to make money based on a buoyant market which has since declined.
