Staying there at a standstill over a future debate implies that they're arguing back and forth over a debate. In reality Kari Lake has offered to debate any time any place and Hobbs can even write the questions, but Hobbs refused to do a face to face debate, because she knows Kari will make her look like the idiot that she is.

Katie looked nervous and unsure on her answers and I see why she doesn’t want a debate because she can’t handle a candidate like Kari.
