Glad someone finally got the pair to do it.
I'd call that a punt and the 24 couldn't hold onto it. The #3 drove through the 22 to intentionally wreck him, and then turned hard left to wreck the 11. This is a similar comparison but dillon didn't give Joey a chance to keep his car on track.
Not the same. Byron lifted, Logano executed a textbook bump and run causing Byron to get loose.

Dillon overdrives the turn so hard that he has to slam on the brakes in the middle of the turn, and gets temporarily passed by Denny Hamlin. Logano runs a normal racing line after the bump.

@@bluechan716 Byron hit the brakes or downshifted... at 18 seconds in the video flame comes out of Byron's exhaust... That is caused by heavy brakes or a downshift.. or a hard letting off of the gas. Byron's car dropped significant speed.. it wasn't Logano hitting the turbo switch. You see those Flamey/Backfires all the time in road racing at the corners. Watch the video again .. Flamey backfire from the exhaust and Byron's car slows quickly at the same time.
@Brick 100 Since people aren't penalized for a bump n run.. the Author miscatagorizes it as "wrong" .. it's legal and part of the sport. I always expect the last 50 laps to be a real estate and position fight of varying intensity. Why would Logano feel bad for competing within the rules? His Conscience is Clear.

I'm all for hard racing in the final 30 laps of any race. But if you're a Logano fan... Don't cry like a little b*tch when Byron finds the perfect moment to pay Joey back. There's a clear difference from what happened here from what dillon did at Richmond. Plowing through a corner 4 car lengths back knowing the only way not for you to wreck is to wreck the car in front of you. That's a clear difference from a bump and run from logano's who's car was obviously faster than byron's.
First of all, Logano’s bump was after Byron walled him, and he was also much closer to Byron. This was a textbook bump and run where Byron just lost control. Austin Dillon sent it in from about 4 car lengths back, not at all the same

Lagano dropped low 1st and then Byron dropped low and looked like he brake checked. You wouldn't want to hit anybody that hard. That was a hit not a bump, Byron backed into him !

At 00:18 you can see fire come out of Byron's pipes.. Flamey Backfire out of exhaust = brakes or a downshift.. And Bryon dropped speed quickly after the exhaust/flame.. It wasn't Logano suddenly hitting the nitrous button. Byron causes this contact. Good win Joey.

You see exhaust flames and then the 24 slows down. Looks like he down shifted. Lagano just stayed in the gas like any driver would so I don't see what everybody is complaining about. It doesn't look like a bump and run the 24 car slowed down.

I get the frustration Byron has, BUT the thing is Logano knows it’s an opportunity to win a race in a points system that refers to winning.
That and what most people are intentionally “forgetting” is that Byron all but ran Joey into the wall on the last restart. So at that point turnabout is fair play.
That doesn't excuse punting a dude like that, he coild've easily made the pass cleanely based off Byron's pace, but he didn't because he's a prick.

I'm not a Logano fan but I don't think he did anything wrong. Its natural for Byron to be upset but its hard to pass at darlington. Plus he didnt flat out wreck him he just bumped him aggresively.

It's just a gross way to win. There was no skill or finesse about it. He was way faster and his tires were in way better condition and he had the ability to race him fairly but chose not to. That's why watching Larson is refreshing, because he can race like a gentleman. That's why people like Larson and Dixon and McLaughlin and Truex are so respected. Doing something like logano did is disrespectful to the sport itself. People like watching fair and Noble competition not what would have been a good race ruined because somebody wants to make it easy. I actually think it's pretty petty of him because he is one of the elders of the league. He had gained a lot of respect from the drivers over the years but I think this choice ruined all that progress. Anyone racing lagano in the last lap is going to immediately think of this and if anyone is in proximity of him again on the last lap I promise you logano isn't winning 🤣 that's why you don't do stupid amateur shit like that

Byron acted like he didn't lean on Logano way hard in order to get around him. I was really glad to see Logano able to take it on the chin and wait for the right moment to return the favor.

I'm not a Logano fan but I'm going to give him a pass on this one. At 0:17, Byron lifted off the gas because his car was getting loose going into the turn. Logano didn't anticipate the car in front of him suddenly slowing down so dramatically and bumped him from behind. Byron's tires were worn out and he was going to lose the race no matter what happened.

Buddy Joey was interviewed and his comment was it was in retaliation. This was supposed to be stopped by Nascar after the problems of last year. He should be stripped of the win and receive no points for the race.

At exactly 0:18 he moves into the middle of the road to hold him back/follow in front of 24 instead of taking the outside, then 22 says I aint puttin up with it, good for him. 22 saw that 24 was loose on the turns at the beginning of the video. 22 had nowhere to go he was trying to get on the inside but 24 tried to hold him back even though his tires were bad, his fault for not getting some new tires

Find the video of Joey’s in car camera, watch it and listen to the audio. It shows Bryon getting into Joey on the restart and shows Bryon checking up in that corner and you can HEAR Joey left seconds before he bumped him.

0:09 start right here, now play up until 19 seconds in, pause at 0:19. Before that you can see the exhaust pipes from byron’s side, thus meaning that he pumped the brakes on logano. With him braking that is how he was pushed, so all you logano haters can see what actually happened on how logano won.
Not racing in my book, ole Bill knew this was a BS move, the 24 was falling off big time, I’d liked it if he would have drove underneath him the next corner, but I think it’s all about ratings with nascar.

Byron had to hit the brake because he was about to wreck himself/ Logano was so close and catching him there was no time to react. Looked like Logano was on a good run, Byron got loose, slowed a bit, and then got the bump and run. The way it's been reported , one would think Logano pulled a gun and shot him. I've seen much worse between Dale Sr and Geoff Bodine.

Joey should have been pissed that he accidently brushed the wall, but it's sad he used it as an excuse for why he punted Byron. At least man up and say you did what you needed to finally win. And stop using the stupid line "I just want to be raced the way I race others" when clearly it isn't true.
@@kyleraymer5581 I can say without hesitation that when Byron pushed him into the wall, I was pissed. I would have been more intent on wrecking his happy ass than winning the race.
@@conservativewatchdog3666 Byron didn't push him into the wall though. Not sure if Joey thought he was going to and flinched or if he just over drove it a bit like so many do at Darlington. Replay showed it was nothing though.

NASCAR needs to teach Joey how to pass cleanly and safely. People are saying NASCAR has become a joke. Joey is one of the major reasons.

Also, Byron was losing that car anyway. The previous turn the rear end was all out of line coming out of the turn, and just before the contact look how hard the 24 checks up.
@@SBUBandit Byron's was not a deliberate punt into the wall. Joey even admitted he deliberately did that. Clean driving is not in Joey's vocabulary.
@@fredknows1667 @Fred Knows I think it was deliberate but possibly a little harder than intended as 24 checked up hard just as 22 came up to bump him. I think he intended to get him loose and drive by, since he was already losing the back tires. Regardless, it shouldn't have come as a surprise. 11 would have done the same, and 18 would have run him over, and again in the pits, and maybe the next 7 races as well.
The 22 was much faster than the 24 at the end. The best car won.

@@SBUBandit doesn't matter if Byron accidentally or purposely put him in the wall. Simple fact is Joey could have easily passed Byron without making contact, he had a ton of momentum to get by him. Joey's bump...that was done on purpose. Now what is going to happen? If Joey is your boy, he will soon find the back of the trailer in a future race when Byron wants to end his day. With a clean pass, Joey has no issues and doesn't have retaliation hanging over his head. I love how couch racers think it's so easy running around a race track at high speeds and inches apart.

Watched this race and didn’t think much about it till I saw all the pissing and moaning about Lagano’s “dick move” to win. It was especially funny seeing Jeff Gordon saying Byron owes Lagano some payback. What BS. Hard, aggressive racing by Joey. Nothing new here. That’s how he rolls. Good for him.
Jeff Gordon was right. Byron should slam Logano into the wall in the playoffs and take a championship away from him.
