  • Garmin Edge Explore Bike Computer Review.
I have taken up cycling and I love it.
It's the perfect sport: gets you out the house, exploring your surroundings, fun with friends, low impact on the body, and has been a life saver during Covid pandemic.
Here is my review: I like it. It is not perfect and there are many things I don't like, but it get a thumbs up. It will satisfy many people' s bike computer needs. It also means you are in the Garmin universe for health tracking which is solid. Compatible with Strava.
My tech of choice has been from Garmin. I have the following:
    - Vivoactive 3 Music watch
    - Garmin Edge Explore bike computer.
The Garmin Edge Explore is basically a cut back version of the Garmin Flagship model 1030.
You can have 2 pages of data fields (with 10 data fields each): this will be plenty for most.
You can connect cadence, speed and heart sensors (not included in the box) .
Unlike the 1030 (and other models like 520) now POW readings.
You can use your Garmin watch (if supported) to broadcast your heart rate.
If you want more information, I recommend watching these three CZcams videos.

I have now sold the Garmin Explorer, and I am using either my Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music Watch or my Apple Watch, and I’m happy with that.

You can set the parameters for the type of roads etc that you want the unit to refer to when it creates a route for you.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I did not discover that during my time using the device. All said it chose some ridiculous roads to ride on that were not pleasant at all (should have defaulted to sensible roads). Overall I found it quite frustrating / distracting (but that is just me).
