I love the "light box" approach to testing the straightness of the joint. Total attention to detail.
It’s a good way to check minutiae for sure!
As a wood carver, wood worker and guitar player for over 50 years, I found this video very therapeutic. The wood was beautiful. The sharpness of your plane producing Angel hair thin curls and the perfect matching of your joint was just magic! You are a master of your craft. Thank you for sharing you talent with us.
Thank you so much for this kind message!
Impressive indeed.

“My friend here”
I think we’d all be a little happier if we had guitars as friends😊
Was kinda hoping the video would never end, so enjoyable; pristine work done beautifully.
Beautiful craftmanship. Well edited video. Great choice of music. As a guitar player with no craft skills whatsoever (let alone wood working!) I always find your posts informative and fascinating.
This is great to hear. Thanks so much ❤️
Many things. 1 you are gorgeous! 2. I will never be able to afford one but your guitars are the gold standard in beauty and sound 3. Your videos are really fun and i’m so happy I found your channel
My family have been involved in antique restoration for over 650 years also musicians. Watching you work is like watching my family --simply priceless. Right now my work has taken me back to restoring early 1800s furniture, then I quickly rush home to start putting a home studio together. As you clearly demonstrate a crafts person is only good as their tools... I've got to run but I will see you again perhaps in the next video.
No idea why but it's never occurred to me to turn the shooting board sideways like that. 73 and still learning. Thank you Youngster
Terrific work Daisy! Having made my own Acoustic guitar many years ago, I can appreciate the level of skill that you demonstrate in these videos! Looking forward to the follow up and how that amazing guitar plays. . 👍👍🎸🎸
Thank you!
There are a few creators that I get genuinely excited when they have a new video, and you are one. Your craft and skill is a joy to watch.
I'm interested to know about the body shape... it is 'dreadnought-ish' but with some slightly more stylised curves. A video on some of your aesthetic choices would be great - body shapes, emblem design, inlays and fret-markers... all that stuff.
I remember from my furniture building days how satisfying it is when those long joints close and no light shows through - Aaah.
In this quick-buck world that we live in, it's so enjoyable watching someone put so much love and care into their work 👌
I always view these videos as a "How to" as I learn so much. As an example, on my last guitar, I joined the back with a "Perpendicular" piece to add strength, just as I had seen you do. More build videos please Daisy!
I’m so glad! This makes me really happy. (Glad I got the right word, too).
I was in my shop earlier, doing some chisel work and feeling pretty good about myself. Then I watched this, and realized I am the lowliest chisel wretch there ever was.
Hahah don’t be silly! Main thing is is to keep everything sharp. 😎
Your attention to detail is extraordinary. I especially liked the way the "curve" of your back braces seem to mimic the slight angular design of your guitars. Your instruments are full of incredible details. Beautifully shot video!
I am sure I will never make an acoustic but the joy that comes from watching you creating your masterpieces is delightful. Thank you so much for sharing your muse with us. Please may you continue for many many years to come.
Joy.
As a luthier myself I find it extremely attractive to see you sharing your knowledge ❤ keep up the awesome work!
This is so good ... everything about it ... the honesty and openness is encouraging and very refreshing . the background music is perfect.
A real joy to watch a skilled craftsperson doing what they love. Thank you for sharing.
As someone with a pretty bad back at the moment, it's nice to see one that's in much better shape. If only mine were made of pliable Welsh walnut xD
That magnetic truss rod cover is genius!!! You build beautiful guitars Daisy.
Thanks so much for the kind words!!
The wood is beautiful, the work was beautiful, and you are be autiful inside and out.what a beautiful way to start my Satuday morning along with a cup of coffee. Thank you, I hope someday I can have a Tempest guitar in my line up.
Why did I get the feeling I was watching Patrick Swayze with Demi Moore & that "Clay Pot" scene while watching this... Odd. Maybe it's just because it's FRIDAY. Beautiful to watch this entire process. You keep it very interesting- the entire way.
Hahaha! A classic scene!
What a calm, grounding and special way to end the week :) Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! ❤️
Great to see focus on one a particular part of a build, as a very amateur builder I can always pick up tips from the pro’s like you. The light / Perspex was a revelation to me, always struggled holding it up to a light 🙄, love your work and your presentation style, Great work, thanks and keep it up.
Fine bit of craftswomanship Miss Tempest, I hope we get to see the rest of the build, especially the neck to body joint, which I imagine to be the most crucial part of the construction?
I’ll see what I can do!
Pristine work Daisy.👌
I enjoy watching you expand your skills and hear your thoughts while choosing the materials you use.
As a musician and builder I appreciate the different perspectives.😉
Beautiful choice for the body material and it sounds good as well.
Enjoy your tools because they make the hard work easier and allow you to spend more time focusing on the details.
Can't wait to see and hear the finished instrument.🤙
Thanks so much for the lovely comment. :)
Love the light under glass to make sure there are no gaps. Also, the precision flat surface instead of trusting that the bar clamps are flat. Excellent work! Love watching you do your thing!
I love to watch you work, the videography is well done. So awesome to watch it go from raw materials to a finished part or instrument. 🎉🎉🎉
Sorry you been gone, it has been a full three days since I’ve seen a video from you. That’s sounds like a short time but three days is an eternity to see you beautiful smile and very impressive craftsmanship, really enjoy you and your work, have a lovely weekend !!!!
Kinda hypnotic watching you work.
Making a light box like yours just as soon as I get back to the shop. Much easier that trying to hold them up to the light.
Oh and I love your new shop (trying to control the envy)!!!
Yay! A pane of glass and a strip light and voila! Thanks for the kind words :)
As a beginning luthier (working on my first acoustic now) that was such a fantastic video to watch! Some of the techniques you use match what I've done (confidence booster) and some are ideas I want to try. I love the body shape of that design as well. Thank you!
That’s awesome! Thanks for the kind words ❤️
Beautiful craftwork, it’s great to watch the care and attention you take and most importantly you really enjoy it! Cheers Dave
Love watching your work. I am building a guitar myself with the help of my Master Luthier boyfriend. I really do enjoy most of this work.❤
Hi daisy, i can only say this was like a visual massage 😊
Just discovered your channel. Most enjoyable. Bit of a guitar junkie myself & l love wood, so I’m really looking forward to the next episodes of this build, especially the sides and the neck. 👍🏻
Love that squirrel plane
I’m impressed that you edit your own videos in addition to building guitars. Either one could be a full time job. And your videos are excellent.
That was really fun to watch. Also thank you for including the names of the songs.
I've just spent most of my free time in the last couple of days researching how to make a stringed instrument! Only as a hobby, nothing of this level of course. Just want to play an instrument that I've made, even if it's a bit rubbish hehe. I'm delighted to find this video!
Go for it! Very exciting!
Such a talented craftsperson. I really enjoy watching your work. Your attention to detail is exquisite. I look forward to your future videos!
I like the light box trick to see if you have a good joint. Also liked how you joined the two thin boards together to prevent cupping; will keep in mind. Out of curiosity, has anyone ever investigated to see how different glues impact sound transmission? I make furniture as a hobby so it's more just curiosity.
Thank you for this video and also for the cool tenor guitar song at the beginning. Makes me want to go buy a tenor guitar and learn that song!
Haha I’m so glad you enjoyed! I was tapping along 😎
You made my day! Craftsperson of the year!
your videos are always nice to watch also very Informative.
I always love your videos. It’s just wonderful watching you work with full attention to everything you do, yielding beautiful results😍. Apart from that it’s really educational, understanding why things are done in a certain way🤓. Thanks for sharing!
What an educational and soothing video! As someone who enjoys music and respects great craftsmanship, this video on how to make an acoustic guitar was right up my alley.
Daisy, you do an excellent job of detailing each step of the process, from selecting the lovely Welsh walnut wood to cutting the notches and chiselling the intricate embellishments. You put so much thought and effort into each component. I enjoy learning about your thoughtful design decisions, such as how the grain direction gives strength and support. You are definitely a master of your trade, and yourskills with hand tools is very impressive.
The entire film is also really relaxing, thanks to the amazing music and noises of the workshop. I could spend all day watching you plain and shave those thin curls! It was amazing to see your work and see such a wonderful finish. I can't wait to see the finished instrument! Please make more videos like this!
Thank you so much for such kind words! Glad you enjoyed. ❤️
Your enthusiasm and skill is such a delight to watch.
Thank you for sharing. 😎
Thank you!
Another great video - all sorts of really good details in there - from the different shooting boards, to your joint-tightness checker (glass over lamp), and that great bent-wood overhead spring clamp system (I forget what it is called!) - thank you!
The amount of time and handwork that has gone into that and the front still looks pristine. How is that even possible? I would have grubby pawprints all over it.
You're the greatest, Daisy Tempest!
Great job !!!
I cannot wait to hear this instrument!
I recently found you. As one migrating to hand tool woodworking, I paid lots of attention to your tools and techniques. I enjoyed it much.
Mesmerizing
Well done!
Nice work! Always a pleasure to watch.
Great video!
Absolutely looking forward to the rest of this build and seeing it all come together in the finished instrument...
Beautiful work.
Always love these vids! So relaxing, love the music too! Thanks
I find that you make this whole process a beautiful poem. The skill and execution is second to none. Don’t ever give up on your dreams as they are what defines you. Your passion and tenacity is what I enjoy most. Stay true, stay real.
Thank you for this lovely message
As a fellow woodworker, your talent and beauty is mesmerizing.
beautiful job Daisy, that walnut has some great figure I'd like to see it with the finish - Cheers from Canada
Good stuff! I too get excited about the majesty of a perfectly set up machine!
Very cool indeed
I really love your videos and watching you work. I can't wait for the next one
Most excellent, Missy.
I really enjoy and appreciate seeing a skilled crafter working in the same medium I do, but at such a different scale. You're right, that wood is lovely. Hope you can share how the completed instrument sounds with us soon!
Always enjoy! Beautiful work. Keep it up, lady!
Excellent work, magic to watch your skill :)
I love the craftsmanship and the content is very cool Thanks!
Love your choice of music
Love your videos and your excellence of craft Daisy!
Always enjoy your videos, and the energy that you put into your work. 😊❤
Lovely video. Very well produced. I enjoyed watching you do that. Very educational. I love learning what goes into making an acoustic, even though I'm never going to have a go at one. Don't have the time, or the overall skills, nor do I have the shop space anymore. And I definitely don't have the equipment, or the budget to acquire same. But this does not stop me from living vicariously by watching you do it. :)
Darn impressive Daisy! Brava!
Great work Daisy, both in your skills at building and the video editing! Thanks for sharing, educating and entertaining! ❤
Thank you so much!
This style of vid i serine & relaxing its nice to wach something chill & informative.
Just love watching you work. It is very evident that you love what you’re doing.🤗
I love the choice of music... and everything else 😊
such an awesome process absolutely beautiful
Thank you!
Well done, Miss Daisy.
I like the idea of laying the back on lighted glass🤔🤔🤔🤔👍👍❗❗
love your musical selections!
Oh I’m so glad!
Very cool! 😊👏👏A beautiful job! Congratulations!👏🌹
You make bookmatching look so easy! Nice work!
Brilliant Daisy, greetings again from Texas. (wear your safety glasses:-)
Really stunning work, Daisy! Beautiful guitar! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I love your choice of background music. This build it looking to be pretty special. Kudos.
I could learn some lessons on joinery from you! Great video, thank you!
Love watching you work. I've done one build for myself but no where close to your quality. Incredible!!!
Rikard From....thanks.....great channel, outstanding work....regards, a fan😊
Loved this! The join of the 2 pieces is beautiful, and I loved the Lightbox technique of ensuring the match is perfect. Can't get enough of the go-bar deck; never heard of it until your vids. Simple elegance. Wish I could justify Lee Nielsen planes. I especially want a squirrel-tail! I hope I can adopt your philosophy of the attention to detail in the parts affects the quality of the end product. Looking forward to the next installment. Cheers!
Excellent, love your work! Great craftsmanship👌🏴🇬🇧
Thank you so much 🙏
@@DaisyTempest you're very welcome
Great work Daisy beautiful looking back really makes me want to build another acoustic I haven’t built one for 15 years got at least12 electrics I’ve made over the last 6years at home but I’m still not happy with them so have never attempted to sell any.yet.Thank you for this amazing video look forward to seeing the next stages.
I know you don't need me to tell you, but your work is really nice, and I'm grateful to you for showing it. Also, I think Walnut is an underutilized wood in guitar building, so I'm glad to see it here. It's pretty common in electric bass, but not so much with guitar. I also like your design style, with your slightly pointier/more-squared-off shoulders and your very nice headstock design. Big fan. Thanks again.
Excellent as ever but a suggestion use a smaller width - ¼ inch to ⅜ inch at 4-6 tip - you find this much easier cutting the curves. Your twice cutting your back why not use a router to cut the edge using your original mold as a guide.
