2 oz. nuts/seeds/nut butters (no sugar)
6 oz. beans (legumes)
4 oz. hummus
2 veggie burgers
4 oz. plain tofu
4 oz. tempeh
GRAIN
4 oz. cooked rice, potato, quinoa (or any cooked whole grain)
4 oz. corn or peas or winter squashes
2 oz. oatmeal or oat bran (weighed dry, before preparing with water)
3 rice cakes
FRUIT
1 piece of fruit (apple, orange, banana, peach, etc.)
6 oz. loose or diced fruit (berries, grapes, cantaloupe, watermelon, fruit salad, etc.)
2 oz. dried fruit (raisins, dates, apricots, etc.)
VEGETABLES
16 oz. cooked or raw or a combination of both
including summers squashes
including avocado and olives, used sparingly
FAT
1 Tablespoon oil (olive oil, canola oil, safflower oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil, etc.) (any oil)

I never made different meals for my family and myself when my kids were growing up. I still don't cook different meals for my Husband & I
He said just cook a meal thats good for me it'll be good for him. I encourage portion control to all my family because I've finally figured that out. If I feel hungry and I shouldn't eat I have a sugar-free pop- cicle.

Hearing how you all cope with your challenges, the self talk, the ways of dealing with others, is all right up my alley and not new to me. I struggled with wanting, wanting, wanting fast food, because that is what I was used to eating. So I followed the food plan, not religiously, but closely (there is an all natural sugared creamer that I put in my morning coffee, that's it). Anyway, this past week I had Taco Bell, and that was okay, but then at home I had tortilla chips and sour cream and salsa (I love the salty)--other than coffee that is all I ate that day. Anywhoo, the next morning I felt sooo awful. It was easy to get back on plan, because I feel so much better. btw, I'm shrinking also, 5'8" now from nearly 5'10".
my experience is when you follow the food plan religiously, you won't be bothered by cravings to have all that junk. sorry you felt awful, but sometimes we need to feel that bad as a reminder!! welcome to the incredible shrinking women's club!! lol 😊
There are so many grocery items that I no longer have to buy.... so in a way that feels like a savings... no more treats, no more crap, no more salad dressings, no more special sugar free drinks, no more frozen prepared foods.... I feel like my needs are so much less now... it's fruit/veg and proteins... I occasionally need to restock the organic oils or spices (*smoked paprika!*) . One thing I am trying to plan for is very serious ankle surgery... I had my left one done in 2018 and was out of commission for 10 months and gained a lot of weight... it is now sounding like I must have the same surgery on my right foot. I will be in a hard cast for 3 months- and probably longer than that I will not be able to drive.... If you were facing this, what suggestions would you have? I am thinking I plan to stock up on all the drygoods like oats and spices, quinoa, rice, beans, cartons of fat free broth as well as frozen items... but I will have difficulty cooking. Thankfully I have an 18 year old daughter who lives with me though she will be busy with college and work. I can't wait until I can attend these meetings in person, but I have PT every Thursday night and am out of the house from 5-7. But hopefully that will only be for another few weeks. Hi Lulu. Just started watching and fixing up my van to be camper. Also eating healthier! I’m a retired Nurse and my husband passedaway 2 years age. I have good support from my family but would like to get out there and meet people. This sounds like a good place.. I try to be healthy, no smoking, no drinking, no drugs. I’m trying to stay away now from all junk food!. But if you will be meeting up , I would love to come. I grew up in Lowell Mass and am living in Jacksonville N C. Come up LuLu, park on my Property, plug in! lol. I live close to some great beaches!!

I got it at Bob's Discount Furniture and the style is called Forte. I'm not sure they carry that style anymore but maybe something similar!!

How many oz of fruit do you allow at breakfast like for blueberries etc not like an apple, pear and so on?
