    I like how modest your spec is. I love configuration videos but most are fantasy with no budget in mind. I like rubbing up against a limit because it helps me differentiate between what I really need to have vs what I'd like to have.

      Thank you! I think that’s always the question when you are building to order. I think you are buying the car for you and not the next owner. You have to enjoy it yourself at a price you are comfortable paying.

      I bearly ised them on the 992 apart from the fact I had to so I could scroll through the dash menu. I just like the clean look to the wheel. I didn’t mind the extra stork. It’s all just personal preference isn’t it. Thanks I hope it arrives on the estimate!

    Hello Steve, good decision! 718 GTS is great value for money. Lovely engine! Also, glad you went with Dolomite silver, it's just better than GT Silver. it's a vibrant silver which makes GT Silver look a bit dull IMO. Hope your order doesn't get repeatedly delayed... unlike mine.. sign of the times..

      Hey Cowan! Thanks. I saw something in the dolomite at the dealer one day and it just seemed to pop more than the GT I had before. Yikes I hope it gets sorted then! I’m keeping my fingers crossed it arrives on the estimated time. I know how stop start the factory was last year. The dealer never knew when customers cars were turning up until they saw a trailer outside from the conversations I’ve had.

      @@Get10Yards I'm philosophical about it all.. The 992 GTS I had on order was delayed 3 times. The problem they said surrounded the Aeokit which I had originally specced and was recently deleted from the configurator. Between xmas and new year I received call saying the GTS delivery date was now not known... Luckily I've had a Turbo on order since last March as well and they said that an earlier than expected slot for the Turbo had materialised. Of course I said yes, and a build date in April was confirmed.. but with a July / August delivery date.. I know it takes 6 weeks or so from completion to delivery, but this didn't seem right.. and my sales exec said the same thing.. like you, it got me looking at lots of alternatives.. but I'm going to hold on as it will be a stunning car.. Turbo, Gentian blue with cognac / black exclusive leather interior.. similar combination to my former F12 (TDF blue and cuoio interior). It's not so much the wait that bothers me, but the fact it's a complete unknown as to when you're likely to get your car..

    What are your thoughts on the Taycan?

    Have you considered pure EV?

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  Před 2 lety +1

      I’ve never been in one but I’ve been told that full electric is not the way car companies are directing all their resources now. Porsche are testing their new fuel now on the sports racing and l’ve been told Ford Europe are focusing on hydrogen fueled. Whether that’s the same thing or not I don’t know but I’m hanging on before going full electric. If the Porsche fuel goes well I’m hoping ill be sticking that in the 718 GTS eventually over moving into the next full electric 718. I’ve been told I can put £1000 holding deposit down to be in a non official queue for the next full electric 718. Not sure if I would do that. The dealer told me the Taycan/Macan factory is dealing with issues on that side of Europe due to the war. So you may want to check into delivery estimates on a build slot. It might help your decision unless you are thinking of buying used. But the dealer said they could still sell my new gts 718 over list when it comes if I chose not to take it.

    Not sure what your budget is but did you consider PTS? I am not a massive fan of the current colour line up other than metallic black or white which is a bit done.
    The Bruister Green in the PTS is just gorgeous I reckon....no doubt it would slow your order though.

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  Před 2 lety

      I never really looked at it to be honest just because of the cost. It likely would have an effect on the order too yeah. It’s already 4 months estimated delivery at the moment. Took nearly 5 months to get the build slot too.

    • @patfromozZ
      @patfromozZ Před 2 lety +1

      @@Get10Yards I would look into the PTS if I had the bucks for a Porka.
      I feel anything naturally aspirated with a Porsche badge is going to be a pretty solid investment as far as cars can go and might warrant a special spec to help it on its way once you are done with it (and to better enjoy your own ownership of it).
      I reckon it's a shame the gearing is so tall in the manual or that would be the obvious choice IMO but I think the PDK is probably the better car.

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  Před 2 lety +1

      Its the how to finance video with the blue background and yellow writing on the thumbnail. You need to check your deposit and overall value including options. My car was £85.5k even before the 3% increase. If you arent buying new your interest rate is likely higher too on the loan. Just when you come to check and compare.
      What you really need to compare is the overall value of the finance total including the interest value and the length as mine was 3 years also.

      I placed my order for my 718 GTS PDK on the 23rd August in the UK, to date I still don't have a build date. Consequently having seen this video and your comments I've given my local Porsche dealership a call to enquire what's happening as there's appears to be no logic in the allocation of build slots. I've been advised by the dealership that build slots are not allocated in numerical order following order placement in the UK, apparently depending on sales volume each Porsche centre gets a percentage allocation. As my Porsche dealership is relatively new there percentage is small compared to other dealerships !. On the plus side I have been advised my order is now top of the list for the next build slot, fingers crossed I may see it in May.

      Hi Bryan. Sadly yes this the case and how it’s always been explained to me by the dealer. I’m in the odd north east location where my nearest next dealer is 2 hours in either direction. So as there was a huge queue for 992 models at my dealer there was no queue for the 718 GTS which I thought would give me a chance of a slot. I have no idea how many of the 992 things orders where given a slot.
      I was told that where the dealers had previously shunned taking orders from customers in other regions now they don’t. So I believe a lot of London based buyers have started trying to get orders through northern dealers based on the percentage sales making it faster to get an allocation.
