My local game store has been having problems with selling repros/fakes and "being unaware of it."
Aliexpress really opened up the floodgates to shady game store owners and sellers.
Gotta love it when local stores sell repro romhacks at twice the price than booths at conventions.
Intentionally trying to pass off bootlegs as the real thing would be fraud regardless of IP law.
Same here, I don't trust any label that looks like it's new.
I just wish places would mark them as such.

A guy did this to me. Recently, I sold about 100+ Wrestling figures on Shpock, some rare, some old, some not so good. I just sold them for like £70 and this guy really convinced me he collected them and shit then as soon as he got them he just relisted them on separate listings at reseller prices! Really pissed me off!
Marc Carran no, it wasn’t the fact that he resold them so much as I was also selling separately an large talking ultimate warrior figure and another which I can’t remember. He begged me to get include these in the sale “ for his collection !” Then he listed them for sale as soon as he got them for about £50 when I’d thrown them in for nothing. wed agreed on £70 it then it cost me £20 to post due to weight. Finally these were my 11 year old twin sons that they had asked me to sell for them.

I used to work at a game store, and collected retro games for a while. One thing I definitely do not miss is some of the toxic-assed slimeballs who would try to hustle you over every sale or trade.
I think that happens 90 percent of the time with people who bitch about "greedy sellers" asking the going rate for a game or other item. When it comes time to sell their shit, they don't offer anyone a discount.
I could listen to these stories all day!

There once was a guy named gord who told of what he did to people who tried to resell him obv fakes. He would grab a disc and pretend he was inspecting the merch and just start carelessly snapping them in two until the guy got the hint
This opens up a few new questions: what is the most credit Ian issued in a single trade in? What is the largest store credit balance Ian has seen a customer hold?
That's a good question. Largest ticket I've written out was about 1,100-1,200. Low thousands. Had a customer who built up around 2k in credit and then slowly spent it over a year or so.

I was at the flea market once and I saw a reseller who had nes games. He had a blue megsmsn tepro that had all the nes games on one cart. He wanted $60 and claimed it was a European copy.
Exactly, no way in hell you would throw the rarest (excluding championship edition bother gray and gold carts) in a box with other games especially if they are not in protective clear cases (like how Pat keeps his NWC cart nice and protected) this guy was trying to BS Ian !!!!

I have a very pricey suikoden II non greatest hits game. I accidently bundled it with some old ps1 games i went to trade in at my local independant gameshop. Guy goes through it and holds up Suikoden II and says "Dude you don't want to get rid of this" and i"m like oh crap. Taught me to pay more attention to what i'm doing.

Are Little Samson carts really that rare? I used to have that game as a kid. Mind you i'm in Europe so the game might be less rare over here.

Little Samson from Europe is more common.
Basically the SNES was out in the US in 1991 and the SNES didn't come out in Europe until well into 1992. So a handful of games from 1992 and onward had more copies released in Europe than North America. (There's a common belief too that Europeans were more frugal with stuff like gaming and kept one system longer.)
Also I'm not sure about Little Samson specifically but a few of those games that are rare in North America and more common in Europe are specifically more common in Scandinavia for whatever reason.

Unless seller had some specified rules or conditions that you signed and are legally binding, either leave it and roll on it as investment or have some fun and accept if it does hold value, it not being SEALED won’t entirely kill that value as do have box. Oh unless can find like another copy super cheap right, line of the game not another copy of what you have in promo version.

homebrew carts should be fine if it's not just a flash cart but actually produced by the developer imo
As long as they mark it as such and the price is reasonable. My LGS has two or three repros which are marked.
They also have a real Little Samson and Dinosaur Peak though, so it's legit.
How about the Playstation Classic Edition?
Why on Earth would you put the three rarest games on the NES in the same pile? I don't know how to spot a bootleg but if I saw even two of those three in a pile of sports games I would suspect something was up. If I'm trying to pull that scam I would put an expensive, but not holy grail, fake in with mostly crap games but maybe throw in a Mario and Zelda to make it look better. Don't get greedy.
Though I am surprised that the store was taking the crap sports games in the first place. I've been to some stores and the shelves are covered in multiple copies of the same few sports games that no one wants. Honestly, it makes the store look like it doesn't have anything good. You see that with booths at expos as well where you see a wall of Madden and think "not worth looking over this one". I could see keeping one copy of every unique title around just in case someone decides to start a complete collection but no more copies beyond that. Now if someone is selling in bulk and a copy happens to be in it I could see taking the whole thing, but this guy sounds like he was selling bulk amounts of just crap. I've been at the local retro game store that I frequent and have observed a staff member tell someone they would take these titles but not these with some Maddens or whatever getting excluded. I don't remember if the guy got upset or just was happy to get the trade-in for his good stuff. Even having 100 copies of Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt doesn't make sense. Any worthwhile NES collection needs Super Mario Bros but the supply is just too large to carry that many copies. Certainly not more than the amount of NES systems/clones you have in stock.

I hate it when people resell stuff that they buy from you. I play yugioh and someone bought this card from me and sold it to someone for a better price and then saw the card when I played him in the tournament, I be like oh is that my yugioh card I sold a while ago? Wtf.
