  • Just a few years ago, Jordan McCabe was one of the best players in high school basketball. He had been a viral sensation for years, and by 2018 McCabe was one of the biggest names in high school basektball, even winning a state championship and being named "Mr. Basketball" for the state of Wisconsin. But since he went to play college basketball at West Virginia, his name has rarely surfaced in the basketball community. So today, I ask the question: what happened to Jordan McCabe?

Unfortunate but let this be a tale to learn from: no matter how much time you hone on your ball-handling and dribbling...if you are short and have relatively mid to low athletisism, it is a looong shot to become a pro. Just ask the Professor.

"He decided to transfer to UNLV, a D-1 school in the mountain west conference"....
As a longtime UNLV supporter all i have to say is .... Ouch? I know we havent been relevant for awhile but man that hurt for some reason...do kids today not know about UNLV for reals??

Unfortunately he's just short and slow footed. He could out quick people in high school but in college the game is faster, hate it happened to him.

He’s not slow footed what are you smoking?
His problems were passing and turnovers that’s why

Turnovers was a major part of it I'm sure.

There are not too many so-called phenoms, that really did anything once they past High School. It's the truth ask Julian Newman! I know three kids that were not phenoms that played with no added pressure that are now in the NBA. At this young age, the so-called phenoms are just a little ahead of the curve at this time. Everyone and their talent will eventually catch up. I actually knew Jordan McCabe when he was in the 5th grade playing for Seattle Rotary. I use to talk to his dad and I can tell you Jordan had a solid family foundation. I loved how his little sister would run up to him and hug him after a game and his mother was supportive and very cool! I really liked his family I wished nothing but the very best for him in his basketball career after he left Seattle. He's a good kid that grew to be a good man. At the end of the day, it's a success story to me.

Folks say how can he not be good in college yet won a state championship, well he won the division 2 state championship, he made a career beating on weak level competition schools in highschool, so just to answer the question about his ability on a D-1 level.. Coach Huggins signed him on the hype of his name but he wasn't good against D1 competition.. Also he sucked at UNLV despite getting 30mins a game and starting every game, he couldn't stay in front of anybody, struggled shooting and the mid major competition was too much for him... in reality he should've went to a small conference school like Wisconsin-Milwaukee or Greenbay that wanted him.

Imagine being a 5’9 black kid getting all this exposure 😂. If you don’t know anything about high level basketball it probably “surprised” you that he got exposed once he played (actual) athletic players in college

And UNLV didn't even start him this year! I cannot believe how stupid these coaches are. McCabe would be my starting PG, play 35 minutes and run the show. He is miles better than most PGs in the Mountain West and never even got a shot.
