    Great video. I use this setup as my way of segmenting my network. My TP-Link router doesn't support VLANs. So I have every device connected to the Guest network and "secured" devices on the main network. Until I get a UniFi Dream Machine, this will have to suffice.

    Thanks Richard, for the speedy reply. I will give this a shot. I upgraded my wireless router to ASUS AX3000, but was interested in setting up my NETGEAR AC1750 for my IOT devices exclusively. This would leave my ASUS guest network free for visitors and family. What is your advice?

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  Před rokem +2

      You're most welcome. That would work and I do believe that the NETGEAR AC1750 also has a guest mode which you could also use for those devices on it to further protect everything. I have a video on how to connect two routers together here: czcams.com/video/J5QJb3O19zI/video.html

    Hi Richard. Would you consider making a tutorial on DMZ set up and usage please?
    Thanks for all your tutorials.

      Are you speaking about a DMZ on a router? You're most welcome and thank you so much for commenting and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

      I will research it out and see what I think. How are you planning on using the DMZ setting? It might help me address your particular concern better. Thanks again.

      @@richardlloydusa Hi Richard. I'm thinking to share and let friends and family have access to certain files on my network. If I create a DMZ zone in my network and move those files there?
      Maybe doing this make no sense? Thanks

      Great vid. Gave me a new way of looking at the Guest feature. I always considered it another broadcasted exposure risk. Didn’t think it could be silo’d like you did it. Thanks!

      I had it as well. For the time when it came out it was OK I guess. Range sucked, interface sucked and I had to do a hard reset probably 6 times a year. Netgear mesh system has been flawless for nearly three years now.
      Thanks for the video though, very informative and great ideas.

      You're most welcome. I have now have three R7000's I got two at the local thrift store for $7.00 each!!! I usually install DD-WRT in them and they work very well. I also have an R7000P I bought elsewhere and it runs great too. For me they've been very solid. That Orbi system look very nice. Thank you so much for commenting, watching and the very kind words.
