@@leonarddurecki5988 What about 4/31?
@@leonarddurecki5988 they had double summer time back then.
Thank you for these historical recordings. They actually help me settle in for sleep.
That's odd, it has the very same affect upon me.
I don’t think I have ever heard Lord Haw Haw’s FULL drunken rant before.
My grandparents lived through both world wars. In fact, our family had individuals serving in military services on both sides during each war. Born in 1950, I was lucky not to have directly experienced the hardships. These recordings bring back many of the stories related to me by my grandparents. I can remember the tears in my grandfather's eye as he spoke of his brother still in Germany, and the way his voice would fail when reading a letter from one of my uncles; one at Normandy, another a POW in Stalag 12. Thank you for publishing these broadcasts. They keep alive the history about which subsequent generations are unaware, or (sadly) been told never happened.
I'm so glad I found you.
History like this is amazing.
I don't mean to downplay the suffering. I just find this Era fascinating.
I been listening to the radio reports of the end of WW2 and its really good to listen to all these news reports. Old is Best has done a very good job putting this all together and will enjoy listening to your other stories this really has been great to listen to
Thanks for posting this. Hope all is well for you and yours these days.
All is good right now. Hope the same is true for you!
I absolutely love all these videos you uploaded! Really appreciate it! Can’t wait for the rest!
Thank you!!! Looking forward to more!
Old is best, where did you get this records? You're a smart man to publish this, hopefully this new generations will understand what the mankind is capable to do, killing innocent people all for NOTHING!!
I’ve just discovered your uploads of the war coverage. Excellent stuff, thanks! They will keep me busy for quite a while.
I enjoy the whole series. I have CZcams listened to just about everything. Some have a nice interview or boxing (Zale-Graziano) match that you have to listen for. GREAT JOB!
I applaud your variety of material - Lord Haw Haw's pathetic last broadcast, the 4th verse of the Star Spangled Banner, etc. Thank you so much for this.
I wanted to add that you have included some intensely interesting opinions. The BBC correspondent from Belsen called for stern justice. He got it. I had heard of Gabriel Heatter, but had never heard him before. He comes across like the "voice of God." in his delivery.
The two fellows at the end: 21 and 22 years old. The fate of the world rested on the young shoulders of men and women such as them.
The best part of this radio news compilation is how it ends. Just perfect.
7:19:00
I can not sleep without lisening to it...
On the very day that Lord Haw Haw made his last drunken speech, American troops entered Munich in what differed from usual scenes of liberation in France, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands in only one respect -- the absence of national flags celebrating liberation.
In the interview from the concentration camp was very very sad to believe, when I was visiting Dachau back in 1998 i remember one local person in his 70s saying the smell of flesh is still alive smells some areas in summer time
3:48:40 "We gave our pledge. All that we are, we said, all that we could ever hope to be, for these men. A pledge sanctified with the youth and flower of a great people. It was a pledge we gave in the darkest hour our people have ever known. Let us honor it, and thereby honor ourselves and prove that we were worthy of it. In that same pledge we gave, we said there would be no discrimination because of race, creed or color. We said we'd fight for this. We'd fight to prove we can live without prejudice and discrimination. Every man who fails to honor that pledge is fighting Hitler's war, even now."
Incredible work
Don’t forget to put the video in the playlist. Thanks a lot.
Whoops, I forgot to do it before, but I just added to the playlist. Thanks for letting me know!
At 5.09, Hap Arnold talks about the role of the air forces in the victory in Europe, and he reminds everyone in the midst of rejoicing, that air power again will be decisive in defeating Japan. My father had just finished his tour with the Eighth Air Force flying out of Kimbolton air base in England as a radio operator/gunner in a B-17s. He then was redeployed to California to get ready for the Japanese campaign. Instead, Japan surrendered, he met my mother, married, had three kids and lived a good life in California. He had nightmares for years, but at least he got back alive.
Wonderful voice and sound.
The interviews from Belsen are shocking, and I have a history degree specializing in the haulocost. I didn't think there was much left to shock me on the subject.
You can't spell your own specialization?
Did you do your degree in English? During those 3-5 years of your life writing about the Holocaust, did anyone ever tell you you were spelling it wrong?
Are haulocost jokes ok here? JK!
So a fake degree?
He got his degree on the internet class, paid like $29.99 bucks for 3 weeks career &BOOMMMM HERE IT GO!! You're someone special acting superior than others, good old boy!!!😮😮
As Thousands of Russian, American, British, Dutch, French soldiers met a lifelong bond was formed between many of them that bond was stronger than the cold war. At this encirclement was 1.3 million surrendering Germans.
There have been several reunification events through the years involving these young troops including even the German. Other than D Day, this event was huge and it was an incredible event of peace between Russian and American friends.
Id love to see america or british citizen reacting to hitler death and germany surrender announcement.
So many of these contributions from Old is Best should be utilized in classrooms. Of course, it's difficult for this stuff to be sanitized or otherwise prepackaged by the revisionist crowd, so fat chance. Thank you so much for posting this pure radio gold.
Finally, Great !
It's certainly bittersweet listening to the praise heaped on the Russian soldiers meeting the Western allies in Germany and the temporary commraderie between two soon-to-be antagonists. How different the world would be if that relationship had turned out differently.
I listen to going to sleep it's so relaxing 😊
Part one??
I couldn't help but laugh at the mispronunciation of Admiral Donitz. If only his first name had been Duncan.
I didn't realize Don Pardo had been at NBC since the 40's.
Detail, but April 31st? At 1:29.
16:00 i didn’t know hitler was ganster like that
Don Pardo beginning at 59:00
“Yet still it sickens my heart to see the picture of that red flag in berlin”
These audio tapes should be played over and over to our HS kids.. instead of having them watch "Weekend at Bernie's" or some other GOD forsaken movie...
I pray that our planet never again sees what these soldiers saw in those death camps.
Let's not forget that on 4/22/1945 at 1530 Berlin time in the bunker,
a meme was born
coincidentally, it's just after the 21st here
Old Is Best....is the Best.
:)
33:51 A latter day Edward Everett cuts loose.
I've noticed the title of England starts in Wales and ends in Scotland, England is one country in the UK why do Americans refer to great Britain and Ireland as England
Comedic blast from nowhere starts at 1:18:44
That was Lord Haw Haw whose sneering voice was broadcast to the British Isles all throughout the war. After the war he was tried for treason and executed in 1946 by the British. Although he was not a British citizen, he was carrying a British passport when captured. This gave the British grounds for the treason charge.
Wow...Lord Haw Haw....wow.....around 1:20:00
Admiral Radio great reception lol
8:31 *crackle* that’s one small step for man *pause* *crackle* one giant leap for mankind
Wonderful speech by Truman.
"We should all bow our knees in prayer for those we lost and to thank our Creator for victory in our long-fought battle in Europe. But before we do that, let me tell you about the best post-war refrigerator on the market." Only in America.
You are a fool.
Private companies paid to produce the program and somehow you think they shouldn’t be acknowledged?
I bet you think it’s better if government paid for it and find no issue with politicians taking credit for being generous with other people’s money.
@@tyqwdybijo On behalf of the American corporation, I thank you for being our useful idiot. Now get out there and buy our Ford Pinto while the going is good.
@@thanksforbeingausefulidiot9016 you are a fool . I bet you support government
Mandating an experimental vaccine for “safety” while granting liability protection to vaccine manufacturers. That isn’t fascism in your deluded view but a company sponsored news program is ?
Typical deluded communist.
@@tyqwdybijo If you really are an anti-pinko, you must have loved the Nazis and their "anti-pinko" campaign against the Russians.
@@tyqwdybijo Let me see if I can follow your logic (not likely). You support the capitalistic system and think that the government's mandate of vaccines, which would be a boon for the for-profit pharmaceutical companies, is actually a fascistic power grab by the government. By the way, you might want to stay current with the news, the vaccine has been FDA approved. Not exactly experimental anymore. Hey, but by all means rush out to your local feed store to stock up on cattle-grade ivermectin because, you know, you don't want to risk your health on deep state sponsored, Bill Gates' approved mind control vaccines.
At least the tobacco was cheap....
April 31, 1945, a date that will live in fantasy ~1:29
Why?
Those who died didn't died for nothing
The melodramatic opinion/propaganda reporting masquerading as news is fascinating to listen to.
Yeah celebrating the end of the bloodiest war in history was "melodramatic."
2:04:33 "In the first days of liberation, thousands more died, many from sheer joy of liberation." Yikes. Talk about surreal and otherworldly.
Translation: friendly fire, bombing, hongerwinter, etc.
No! Those liberated were already at death’s door and would have not survived anyway
red army did not claim the reichstag till May 1
Interesting map of Europe, with "England" spanning all the UK and Ireland.
What are you remotely even looking at?
Drew Pearson was kinda full of it wasn't he. Germany will be mainly agricultural for 50 years ! Lol
There was a Nazi rally in Florida today (2/1/22). Florida's Governor wouldn't condemn it. Such courage! Such backbone!
I'm sure that happened, zoomer.
Seeing that you r3tards even call EVERYONE a "nazi", this could easily be anyone protesting to save the dolphins, and you would be carrying on just the same.
Nazis killed, burned, and looted the US cities for 6 months and democratic leaders were supporting the assholes through and through.
@@Amilakasun1 Too stupid to even take seriously
@@WillmobilePlus A hit dog will holler. No sane, rational person would respond with such vitriol when they here someone condemn Nazism. Shameful..
@@StellarAvenger No sane person calls anyone they just dont like (and that includes anyone from parents, to black people like me) a "Nazi", yet here people like you are.
are you saying this chukles bye kid
Lord haw haw seems to have been prescient
"Let's rejoice at our glorious efforts in defeating the "master race" and give thanks to God that we don't live in a nation where any man is judged by the color of his skin. As long as that color is white or off-white."
@Rick Boyd ‘Thanks for being a useful idiot’ is a communist and racist towards white men
@@tyqwdybijo Eat shit.
@@tyqwdybijo I just find it ironic (I know, that's a quality someone of your IQ lacks) that a 100% WASP senate is outraged at the "superior race" claims of the Nazis.
@@tyqwdybijo you cannot be a communist and be racist
@@soulplexis sure you can. Stalin didn't like Jews anymore than Hitler did.
God bless the Red Army
TRAITOR!!!!!!
..."and now let's hear from each and every one of our 100 Anglo-Saxon Protestant white male Senators".
PHUUK YOU FAROH
@Thanks for being a useful idiot
Why are you so racist ? What do you have against white people ? How does a senator being non-white improve their virtue ?
Is that not a form of supremacy (non-white supremacy), where you assert that being non-white confers more virtue?
Your claim
To love non-white people does not make you less of a racist or tyrant than hitler.
. You are just as racially judgmental as hitler was and if you are a modern day commie you also have contempt for constitutionally limited government.
You will accept fascism and communism so long as its being done in the name of “non-whites “ . That makes you no better than genocidal maniacs like Hitler and Stalin and mao.
