"Tight bottom is just good" we still talking about guitars?!?
nope lol
Austin Moser maybe he was, maybe he wasnt but, either way he isn't wrong.
I’d rather a tight one over a gaping one
Nope, I was until that. Now I’m going straight to Porn hub lol. Just kidding. Maybe.
ROTFL..
it's ridiculous how awesome the guitar looks
I am loving that Jem with the mahogany body and the rosewood top, damn, absolutely stunning guitar.
Me too. Beautiful it is.
lol
I played one of them and they're great!!!!!!
"tight bottom is just good" - Steve VAi
i think we all agree on that one lol
Steve said, "Tight bottom is good." So very true.
"a tight bottom is good"
-Steve Vai 2016
That Ibanez is stunning
Nice to see you here...
bakerXderek didn't know you were into guitars! Cool stuff bro! Earned a sub today!
CHEA :D good to see you here, the legend himself!
'tight bottom is just... good.' - Steve Vai 2016. Words to live by.
Larry Dimarzio, please never stop making these type of videos. I love watching them.
Would love to see some more "up-close" playing footage from Bumblefoot or Richie Kotzen.
Keep making quality pickups & videos Larry, you're one the Kings.
God Bless!

2:22 "Tight bottom is just good"
Sure is Steve, sure is ;)
Liked this video just because of those words of wisdom.
And the look he had in his eyes when he said that, was "just good"! 😂
😍😍😍 steve vai is definitely guitar daddy
I could spend the whole day hearing Steve, either talking or playing, such a genuine guy
My brother made an electric guitar in the 1990's by hand. It was 24 fret and had DiMarzio pickups and a Floyd Rose bridge. My brother was an amazing guy and could make alll sorts, R.I.P. Nigel.
" 'cause tight bottom is just goood."
*awkward pause*
OH STEVE!
@2:19
I have a woody jem, and Its one of the most unique guitars ive ever played. So many different sounds, but all of them quite special. Very spacey, 80s vibes.
It's normal i drop my jaw each time i see steve vai play guitar on any video?
So satisfying to hear/see a master like this just casually playing guitar.
Man, was never the biggest fan of the JEM model, but THIS one in particular with the new pickups and tones and everything....damn.
Still not too keen on the monkey grip, but I get the feeling if I ever get to try this particular model I'll probably fall in love with it hahahaha
It's actually incredibly handy for taking the guitar off in a standing position. It's just in the perfect place to easily grab.
Man Vai is an angel what a wonderfull person i hope i can meet him one day in person.
The amount of tone in that guitar is unbelievable.....
"I don't really think about what I'm playing, I just play"
plays explosive thing that hits your soul like a freaking bullet
Got damn that it one of the best lead tones I've ever heard! Well done!
Yea, but also you're into Savant!!! Good taste!
Guitareben Hell yeah! Savant is a genius.
sam crawford Of course a lot of that tone comes from Vai's technique. I bet you wouldn't be half as impressed if I were playing the same stuff.
Is it just me or could you just want to listen to Steve Vai play and talk all day?
Its just you.
Totally agree, he is so inspiring
Im a SD geek but I love this new DiMarzio's Dark Matter 2 .Would love to get one when its available in local market. Steve Vai rules !!!!
Hi, It's available now. If you can't find it online please call DiMarzio direct 800 221 6468.
All the best,
Larry DiMarzio
I love you Mister Dimarzio. I own around 2 dozen guitars and almost everyone is outfitted with Dimarzios. I just wish that you would make a more powerful neck pickup.
I've been using Tone Zone's in the neck forward facing like in the bridge. If you could build them like that with a little bass rolled off it would be perfect!
billhillard Why not try a capacitor in line with the pickup to remove a little bass? Did that to my Tone Zone and it's perfect.
+LarryDiMarzio if vai is Thor you'd be Odin...cause your products produced tons of iconic guitar tones!!! you & "the Blucher" rock!!!
sky lar I'd prefer the neck to be a tad creamier but they sound good
I don't understand how people can dislike this video. Seriously.
I put an original DiMarzio super distortion in the bridge of my les Paul a long time ago and never looked back
Yes, tight bottom is very good Steve!
Adam Youdell lol
Got the honour of seeing this crazy bastard live a few weeks ago... Jesus Christ what an artist. It's not the pickups but when he pulled this guitar out on "Answers" they just wailed. Wow. Dimarzio strikes again.
I'm just glad he still has the skill he did in the 80s and 90s. and that he still brings out new products that are special
That's one damn good looking guitar!
yup!
“....cause a tight bottom is just gooooood” lol that was gold right there
loooool
you can just hear Vai in whatever he plays...his tone and phrasing...im listening to this and im hearing him 20 years ago
steve beeing outstanding as always. this man changed rock music like mozart changed classical music!
This jem is very beautiful......like a waork of art. The natural earth tones make it seem very poetic.
This is probably my favorite Vai clean stuff Ive heard. Those clean tones are nice.
damn...that guitar is beautiful
yeah CITES loves it also I guess..lol
I will say that's the most gorgeous gem model I have ever seen.
Clark Feeley jem
sorry, but it's "jem".. but i agree!
daniel johnston
Yeah my bad, It wont allow to edit it. grammar police guilty, I am.
Clark Feeley haha its fine i was just letting you know in case you were unaware!
"Tight bottom is just good"
-Steve Vai
He knows what he's doing 😂
Indeed it is Steve... in so many ways!
An 'old soul'. Very special music, I don't believe we'll hear better in our lifetimes. Steve.
Best pickup demo I've seen on CZcams !! Cool guitar too!
Great pickups Master Vai! It was amazing to see you and your great band in Charleston South Carolina for the Passion and Warfare show! Can't wait for the next
That brown tone, my favorite Windows 98 theme...
That guitar look very very premium quality must say
The sound is almost dreamy through head phones with the echo! Bueatiful guitar..and a master playing it. ✌
"Tight bottom is just good" he knows what he did XD
Steve Vai one of the coolest people on the planet as usual
I can't get over the presence these pickups have! They have such a great ring to them!
the tone is amazing...great job lary...and steve you have a new beatiful guitar and the playing is always wonderful
I know he is more known as a rock/metal shred guitarist, but I think we should give some credit to those outstandingly beautiful cleans! Class act!
That neck pickup sounds amazing
So awesome! What a combination... Steve Vai and DiMarzio! The new pickups look and sound fantastic.
But honestly, Steve Vai can make any guitar sound incredible.
tlkshowhst that's the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Tight bottom is just GOOD!! :D
Are we still talking about pickups? LOL!
" 'Cause tight bottom is just GOOD". Indeed, Mr. Vai, indeed...
No Words my friend, Just Awesome Thank you.
I could listen to Steve play all day!
Valerie Ann same with me
I’m here for the “tight bottom is good” comments
You heard it here folks " tight bottom is JUST GOOD", words of a wise and awesome individual.
I could watch Vai play all day
Love the sound of those new Dark Matters and such a cool looking guitar!!
Vai is wonderful. These pickups sound great, too.
This is the coolest JEM I have seen yet. I just like woody guitars, I have an Ibanez S series with a burled Ash top. Wood grain just has that beauty that you don't really have with a paint job
Very cool sounds!!
"The BEST PLAYERS play the BEST PICKUPS"
Nothing beats the combination of Ibanez guitars and Dimarzio pickups. Mr. Dimarzio you rock!
he really should figure out a way to sneak his signature amp in the shot
hah, ya, all that setup and then he's playing through an Axe-fx... lol
Hi, The Axe-fx is in the effects loop and not generating the actual sound.
Hope that helps,
Larry DiMarzio
I got a d activator which i like but i'd like you guys to add some more hot pickups with similar eq to the d ac but with more treble. 6.5b, 5.5m, 7.5t would be perfect as long as the treble isn't sharp 👍 (blade design)
Doesn't matter what pickups he uses, what guitar he uses, what amp he uses. The sound is in his fingers. He will ALWAYS sound like Vai... :P
Unless he plays everyones first guitar
that bridge pickup is so amazing.. its sounds perfect
Never see guitarist play guitar so smooth and clear like him
I would love some Steve vai podcast about life and stuff
You can find that.
those sound amazing
Beautiful guitar, perfect performance. You are simply the best, Steve
Larry, you've hit a home run with these. I want a set.
Such an amazing player.
That is one beautiful guitar!
Oh my goodness, that is such a beautiful guitar. Wish that was in my collection.
Amazing pickups!For my Ibanez rg550!!!Sounds excellent!!!!!!!Thanks Dimarzio!!!!
Vai just gets better with age. Incredible.
That tone is amazing
Missed Steve in December in St. Pete. Puts on a very awesome show
Was surprised how nice the cleans sound. Passion and Warfare came out the year I graduated high school. Who knew I'd start playing guitar on the 25th anniversary. Wish I would have started back then. Thanks Steve for all your inspiration.
i like his vibrato style-its circular.
That tone!🥇😍
This guitar is beautiful as far as color composition and some other details are concerned, very beautiful.
I love Steve’s guitar playing, amazing talent he has
That tone is just fucking perfect.
Sweet upper middle emphasis, no overly clanky or harsh highs, and a very smooth not overly boomy low.. nice round tone..
this man is a really good player man... i am impressed every time,
Steve, thanks for being such a cool guy! Truly inspiring guitar player and down to earth guy.
Insane sustain!!!
"Tight bottom is just good"
-Steve Vai 2016
Great tones!!
Sounds great. Vai is such an original player. I can listen to him all day long.
steve vais totally cool i love his music... and his part in crossroads that shit blew my mind.
" 'Cuz a Tight Bottom is just good."
....OH I GET IT!
Always cool chat! RESPECT to Vai
-J
Steve's "meanderings" are 100x better than any of us actually trying to play anything.
Got really high & just ordered one 🎸🎶
I hate it when that happens!! :-)
2:18 lol, I think he almost said "fatter bottom". It's okay to say it, Steve... They make the Rockin' World go 'round.
Those have a really crazy range of sound. Seen a lot of pickups that barely change when switching through the positions.
Love the neck position in cleans
It's the new custom JEM Woody!!!! That scratch guard and matching headstock were a brilliant idea by the talented luthier Tak Hosono at Ibanez. I love it!
Agreed, but I also want a rosewood top for my headstock. Which I will get but not through Ibby.
