    Unrelated but fun fact: did you know that there was a study done several years ago (can't post a link to the study because CZcams apparently doesn't like links) and that study revealed that diet sodas are actually up to 10 times worse for you than drinking regular soda? And on top of that because of the artificial sweeteners and other artificial ingredients they use in them diet sodas can actually lead to faster tooth decay and multiple other health problems as well as they can also cause someone who is on a diet to gain weight faster than they lose weight drinking them vs regular soda.

    • @Silky_boi
      @Silky_boi Před 2 lety

      No they’re not. Never heard of someone getting Diabetes or high blood pressure from diet soda it’s always regular high sugar/high calorie sodas that cause issues like that. And also people on diets who drink diet sodas in many occasions don’t understand BMR or proper calorie intake. And all soda is bad for dental health.
      Nothing replaces water for good health but saying “regular soda” with just as many artificial ingredients and very high sugar and calories is better than diet soda with no calories and no sugar is false.

    • @Brad.W
      @Brad.W Před 2 lety +2

      @@Silky_boi "A 10 year study performed by the American Geriatrics Society with combined findings from the Food And Drug association found that diet soda intake was related to increasing abdominal obesity by more than 50%. Also, artificial sweeteners, which are found in almost all diet soda, were linked to an increase of nearly a 70% of high-calorie food intake.
      “Something about human brain chemistry recognizes that there’s something sweet because of the artificial sweeteners in the soda and in turn dials-up you’re craving for more sweets,”
      Researchers from both the Columbia University and the University of Miami in a 10 year 6300 person study found that 88% of those who consumed diet soda during the study had a 64% higher rate of developing cardiovascular disease and cancer than those who drank the regular soda mostly due to diet coke using artificial sweeteners. Compared to non-diet drinkers, higher consumers of diet drinks containing artificial sweeteners (i.e., above the median exposure in consumers) had higher risk of overall cancer (n = 3,358 cases, hazard ratio [HR] = 1.13 [95% CI 1.03 to 1.25], P-trend = 2.092). In particular, aspartame (HR = 1.15 [95% CI 1.03 to 1.28], P = 0.002) and acesulfame-K (HR = 1.13 [95% CI 1.01 to 1.26], P = 0.007) were all associated with increased cancer risk. And those who drank as little as one diet beverage a day were 60 times more likely to develop dementia or cancer and had an increased risk for stroke over a ten-year period
      Another surprising stat on diet soda: a study published in the clinical and experimental ophthalmology journal, found that diabetics who consumed more than 4 cans of diet soda a week were 8 times as likely to have vision problems, including blindness.

    you may simply have too much restriction when nitrogen purging, if it's passing through the whole system, then out through gauges and multiple valves. the single knob purge setups regulate flow not pressure and it's possible total restriction is causing pressure buildup and the regulator is just happily flowing at it's normal rate. even dual setups with low pressure regulator and flow adjust knobs can be too much and blow out your work.
    probably best to purge through the system opposite of the side your brazing, so the end vented to atmosphere is closest to the work and have that a wide open port with schrader core removed.

    I'm new to your channel, Sorry, I don't know your name. Gotta few questions?
    1. Do you use 422B ?
    2. Whenever you have a R22 system where the charge needs topped off ,
    Do you ever mix the 2, or recover the charge, and weigh in 422B or whatever R22 replacement you work with ? Me personally ?
    I'd rather recover the charge and weight in ALL 422B. My boss is totally opposed to this. We do not carry R22 on our trucks. Thursday I did a leak repair on a older 5 ton packaged YORK rtu. The unit info tag stated it needed 5lb's 8 oz.
    According to the manufacturer of 422B,
    you need to take the total charge of R22, and subtract. 05 % of the charge and that's what you weigh in with 422B.
    Where I went wrong is, I thought this method for charging a packaged with 422B was written in stone , but I was wrong. It ONLY gets you in the neighborhood of a correct charge.
    You may need to add more 422b on top of the factory charge ( minus 5%).

    • @Balticblue93
      @Balticblue93 Před rokem

      Curtis has used 422B in the past. He has a pile of empty bottles at his shop. Mixing any refrigerant is against the law based on EPA rules and regulations. There are techs who does this but it is not legal to do so. The technician that replaces the unit in future will have to pay to have it destroyed instead of reclaimed, if there is a mixture. I would be pissed, if that happened to me. R22 might still be expensive but it is profitable still. 422B is by far the best solution to recover the R22 and replace completely with new 422B and oil. So, you are admitting above that you mixed the two refrigerants, and your boss condones this type of mixing and repairs? I can link you to the EPA website where it states that is a violation to mix any refrigerants of any kind.
