- Ah yes, so many more Tool tracks to go through. PUSHIT was a super fun first-time experience for me. I'm sure many are getting tired of my long rants but without a doubt, I could go on for much longer on some of these tool reaction videos.
Super MAHALO for all of your comments, good, constructive, criticizing, and even some of the trolling. Cheeeeeehuuuuuuuu đ€

@jajajah86 big fan of him too, his content his just in a different style
@@CanadainElmo His reaktions so natural (sry for my language. I never lern english) đ kiss from Poland
Him and Rick Beato.
I love him so much. So wholesome and sweet while still being insightful and interesting.
Don't ever feel bad about gushing too long. We're here for you! We've already heard the songs a million times; it's your commentary that brings us here.
Cringe
Absolutely. We donât come here to listen through... we come here to unpack the nuance with a different perspective than our own. đđđđ
@@m.94 the fake-hair-on-the-screen profile pic is pretty cringe if you ask međ€Łđ€Ł
Best reaction channel on youtube for sure
Haha!! Bro we have the same profile picture đ
The Live version is a different song. They changed it A LOT to give it new meaning. View the lyrics from another perspective.
Pushit (Live) - Salival (2000)
Different, yet the same in the end.
I love the live version, but both are amazing pieces
it would be very cool to see him react to the different versions
One of my fav. Tool songs. Pushit live salival
under a different light, some would say
Brother, Wings for Marie part 1 and 2. Treat yourself. It's a masterpiece.
He needs lyrics and the understanding of Maynardâs motherâs aneurysm, 10,000 Days of suffering, her name Judith and her Perfect Circle. Wings 1 and 2 are a story. Needs all 4. We will lay out the story for him, lol
Yes please! I know he treats the lyrics as an instrument, which is cool, but the meaning/story behind this song is so powerful.
for real! i would love to see part 1 and 2 as one reaction!!!
I concur.
Also Right In Two
About 80% of the way through the song, when Maynard is singing and all the instruments drop away, and all you hear is his perfect clear note. Straight up magic.
Yep, the band drops away the moment he hits the nite and come back in the moment he stops. Just Epic! one of my favorite Tool moments of all time
You should watch a performance of this titled âMaynard and the fan, donât push itâ. A fan jumps on stage and walks up to Maynard. Maynard does a judo hip toss, takes the guys back and sinks in a rear naked choke, singing the whole time. Eventually transition to the mount and continues to ride the fan for the duration of the song. Truly something to behold lol
Very funny and fun spirited.... that fan got subdued but walked away with an awesome concert story to look back on, uninjured.
It's Maynard's stage đ
Lol his interview with Joe Rogan where he talks about wrapping the mic cord around the dudes neck and every once in a while just yanking on it.
Can tell youâre a bjj guy haha
I had never seen this before, and can never thank you enough. :D
Me: Stumble on to your first reaction at midnight. Almost 3 hours later, "Man I can't hold my eyes open I need to go to be..... aw shit he did Pushit."
Going through exactly this right now
That just happened to me last night, my ass is dragging today đ
If youâre a Zeppelin fan, then for sure listen to Tools cover of No Quarter. Itâs mind blowing.
oh please do this
For me, it hurts to hear the original now. Tool made the song so much bigger and far more epic.
A musical brother of mine said that "No Quarter" had long been a favorite Zeppelin song for him. Then, driving home late in the rain one night, the local college radio station played Tool's cover version. It was new to him, completely blew him away, and legend says he is still driving to this day.
@@seancarrollsings2 Funny as it is the exact opposite for me, I love both bands but i can't even listen to the Tool version now, LZ is so perfect nobody, even Tool, can match it.
@@Taradhish yeah, fascinating difference of experience. I heard Tools version first, so I think thatâs a big factor.
The best TOOL song is the next TOOL song...
This is an awesome saying. Yes!
I agree
Best comment EVER!
Just like their best album is their next album. Ive stopped choosing for a long long yime. They are all great
Close. Third eye is like RIIIIGHT there as well
Disposition, reflection, triad when you are ready for a journey!
Although Iâm a big fan of experiencing and listening to tool chronologically... I agree those three are one wild and beautiful ride.
Is he ready to ascend?
I second this, âTriadâ especially.
I think everyone needs to appreciate the fact that this album is 24 years old and weâre all still just as happy today to enjoy the pure complexity and ingenuity of this music. What a great time to be alive for sure.
Live version of Pushit from the Salival album is a must.
Excellent track. Can't wait for you to get to the Salival live version. They re-interpret the song musically and it gives a completely different experience. I'd say it leans more into their Eastern influences
Radiohead OK Computer is an album that would blow your mind with those cans on. Universally recognized as one of the masterpieces of the last 20+ years.
I couldn't agree more. That album blew me away. They recorded the bass line in analog at Abbey road studios And it is so smooth and powerful throughout the whole album. Absolutely a 21st century masterpiece.
"...we need you to find a comfortable space,
that's not only comfortable, but vulnerable.
I want you to shut your eyes and go there,
and we'll meet you on the other side..."
if u wanna hear long screams by maynard listen to âThe Grudgeâ and âH.â
Jerkoff
Ticks and leaches!!! Maynard said he never sang the same after that recording
"Bottom" too
@@mattcortelyou1781 When Tool was touring for Lateralus, there was a time when Tomahawk was the support band. If they performed Ticks & Leeches, Maynard would bring out Mike Patton to help.
@@flightgravity7483 thats dope!
Canât wait to hear your thoughts on their song Eulogy. Another masterpiece with interesting production choices
Eulogy is and always has been my go to Aenima track đ
Yes. Its one of the best songs on the album.
I have to say 46and2 is my favorite on this album.. but the whole record is great.
Eulogy, aenima, and hooker with a penis, my goto tracks, also love jimmy
Eulogy is Sickđ
Eulogy is one of my favorites, it stands alone in my opinion.
Glad you're listening to the album version before the Salival version.
I recommend Pushit live Salival. You must hear that if you liked the middle quieter part.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
Now do the Salival version of Pushit. Itâs a totally different arrangement and vibe. So much softer and intimate, and also brutal at times. I think youâll really like it after hearing this original version.
also, the tabla player on the live version must be right up his alley, since he say "very india".
Oh yeah! Thats right. I think Aloke Dutta jams on it too!
rather he spends time on something new
My favorite song of theirs!
Agreed, LOVE that version of the song... "from a different angle, under a different light"
"The older I get, the better I was." Ha! That's great. I'm taking that.
Me too!!!!
That's what I said too. Lol
Hell yeah! I think we can all relate to that.
Pushit I consider one of Maynard's best vocal performances.
I think that's fair
That last little bridge is đ
I completely agree
Definitely top 5 Maynard
Heâs truly an amazing talent
on Ănima his vocals were really powerful, Eulogy, Third Eye.. etc. Although some of my favorite vocals are also in Undertow - Bottom and Flood.. And of course The Grudge, Ticks & Leeches are up there among his best vocals.
Tool "The Grudge" One of the best songs off of the best album
Thatâs off of lateralus not Ănema
@@dicebrad7553 I said what I said
I love LATERALUS and all the albums and I have affairs still, but my heart and ears are still married to Aenima !
Good, we can all agree those are the 2 best albums
@@thementalcase313 Nah, I place both 10K days and FI above Aenima, but I realize I'm weird.
I got goosebumps at the end and seeing your laugh made me understand you felt it too. Holy shit! This is why I love Tool so much.
One of the best channels ever for an audiophile like me. Please donât ever stop. So fucking good.
I love the live version of "Jerk-off" from their first album - Opiate. Nobody ever wants to react to that song, unfortunately... That scream in that track, and that was live performance. Perfect!
Trash Talkers just did jerk off this past Tuesday! I was stoked!
That's my favorite track off of Opiate. Respect! đđ»
Now check out Salival, Push it.
The superior version. So fucking good.
@@cassyh.2603 still don't get why people thinks that the salival version is better? Different for sure, more trippy... but better no way. It is less dynamic, more monotonous
U HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG IVE BEEN WAITNG FOR MORE TOOL!! But now we need to see Wings for Marie part 1/2 ;)
Together, with lyrics to get the full effect.
KoG does a Tool song...
Tool Army: WE DEMAND MOAR!
He could review every version of every tool song and we would all sit here and listen
Tool Army in the house
@@leeteague8126 Pretty much.
What a bunch of Ticks and Leeches
Lol
the drumming intro to tool's tick's and leeches when he adds the high hat it just destroys my brain for some reason.
âThe older I get, the better I was.â
Made me guffaw as I think we can all relate to that, but Geebz, coffee, Tool, chicken skin, watching the utter joy cross your face; I think youâve halted any decomposition! Keep on it, mister.
As a musician, a DJ, and a fan of the majority of the bands you've already analyzed thus far, this is definitely the best "reaction video" series I've come across during quarantine. A LOT of expertise and fun (educational) commentary happening here. You've got a great methodology to how you're presenting your knowledge and it's super enjoyable! Keep'em coming!
Dude, you're like our fun uncle that also happens to be incredibly musically educated đ
Tool: The Grudge, Third Eye, Wings for Marie (Parts 1+2)
I really like that you back up a bit on the track when you pause and restart
Wonderful reaction. Glad it's hitting you like it affects the #ToolArmy. We'll be here for your entire journey
You should listen to the Salival version of this song. Absolute masterpiece, my fav Tool track. The mix is insane, and the sounds are unique.
Btw, what an awesome reaction channel dude, keep 'em long!
46 & 2 is on this same album, would love to hear your thoughts on that song. Love your reactions! Really cool to get a new perspective from a different lens on music, keep it up!
My favorite Tool song!
The opening base riff is fucking killer
Can't get enough of your TOOL reactions man. I am hearing more and more new things.
You have subconsciously started the âTool swayâ. Youâre transgression is showing!
Glad to see you reaching back further into the catalog. This is the only song I've yet to hear them perform live. It's epic! One time Maynard sang it while restraining a fan who rushed the stage.
I HIGHLY suggest you check out the live rendition of this song from their Salival release, id argue its a better version of this song in the way its orchestrated!
@@AlexVaatu you and I agree on this. When the Trash Talkers reviewed it, most of the TA that responded, preferred the studio version ;)
Him singing while holding that dude in a choke hold then wrapping the mic wire around his neck and riding him is unbelievably epic, yet people aren't impressed when I show them. Blows my mind
11:00 my thoughts exactly. I love that someone else so appreciates the way their bass can completely sway the ocean of mood behind the repetitive guitar riffs that Adam plays. This is one of my favorite phenomenons of tool and otherâs music. Itâs the relationships between the instruments and the play and tension repeats and divergence that makes things seem so special! Love your commentary.
AND YOU ARE FANTASTIIC AT WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!
GOOD ON YOU.
you have the knowledge and vocabulary and a super chill cat to boot. love ya brother. keep on keeping on.
Thank you! đ
Dude, you've made a living composing music and you live in Hawaii.... The surfer/guitar, drums and bass player in me are soooo freakin jealous. Congrats on the success of you CZcams channel. I've probably watched you everyday for 2 months now. And I love that you're a new fan of my favorite band for the last 25 years, Tool. Welcome to the family bro. P.S. this is one of my favorite Tool songs. Danny's part on the verse is one of my favorite drum beats to play. The odd triplets on the hi-hats while holding down a pretty basic beat on the bass and snare just feels sooo good to play.
"I'm gonna do some King Crimson" well you leave me no choice but to subscribe now ;)
Now you must do the live Salival version of this performance!!!! Completely different from this one
Once youâre done dissecting the music, I recommend revisiting Maynardâs lyrics and vocal patterns. Even just on your own time. Itâs an entirely separate rabbit hole that can not be set aside
Just to be clear, we've all heard every Tool song infinity times. We're here for you, talk all you like. Mahalo.
"Kick your ass and take no hostages". Perfect description of Tool.
16:27 every tool fan has tried to air drum but then quickly realize âshit, i canâtâ
This is in my top 3 Tool songs. I hope you listen to the live Salival version as well and compare the two. Great reactions!!
"wondering if that's the bass being overdriven"
Dude, I've been listening to Tool for 2 decades now. I've been to 3 concerts. And I still get surprised when I see them that certain parts aren't the guitar.
The snare drum sound on this album is hypnotic. Great reaction and breakdown!
Well, I'm sure it's already said but you have to hear the Salival version. Live and they changed the way the song is played just enough to make it almost a different experience. Simply these guys flexing because this original version is one of their best songs. You typically don't change something that is already a masterpiece but they did and it's phenomenal. I hope you ride the whole catalog. I'm enjoying your breakdowns, very unique reactions. I can't wait til you hear 7empest!
Great reaction/review. Love your insight! The live track from their 'SALIVAL' album is a MUST.
I have never had the experience to see them live. I am working hard and saving money to see them in Sept. For louder than life. To see them live would be a dream come true. The songs are genious to say the least.
Love peoples reaction to hearing Tool for the first time, then needing to hear more decades after the songs were released.
Your body and facial expression are exactly how we all reacted the first time we heard them. Your Analysis is great and genuine intrigue brings in the fans and views.
A band that disappeared for 13 yearsish and then releases an album that reaches No.1 is a testament to the depth of this band and their talent and the reason for so many dedicated fans.
Im 44 and got stoned to these guys so many times in my teens lol
Definitely the best reactor on CZcams. I greatly appreciate that you dive into what makes a song great from your unique perspective. Every time I see a new video by you itâs like finding a jewel while sifting through the sand. Keep it up, Iâm loving your work. And please do Toolâs Third Eye for a mystical experience.
This is by far my favorite tool song. Hearing you break it down the way you did makes me appreciate tool that much more. Which is hard to do considering they are my favorite band of all time and Maynard is my unnatural obsessionđ€đ€
I've just recently discovered this band and am constantly having these unbelievable musical moments that have really made me look forward to listening to more Tool. I'm 44 and have heard so much music but this band makes me feel totally like there is so much more to hear and so many reasons to be surprised all over again. Unbelievable.
YES!! Pushit is probably in my Top 2 Tool songs!
it is in my top 5
@John yes, I know. It's just this song I feel one of the best feelings, the other top are The Grudge, Ticks and Leeches.. But yeah i love all Tool songs.. (But the new album is not my favorite)
@John yeah that's what I thought at first too, like I would listen to it even 4 times, and don't get me wrong, there are some great moments, the music is great.. But as you said the lack of Maynard's legendary screams, and also the build up and there is no explosion, if you know what I mean like the climax, it only always goes on and on the instrumental sections, and it doesn't lead to some grand finale like Third Eye ending, I cannot say this album is a masterpiece..
@@lopolik New album is a grower. It's right up there with their other stuff for me.
@John I think it was a conscious choice for Maynard to dial it back and enhance the music in subtler ways. The album, to me, showcases Adam Jones in particular in a way no other Tool album does and I appreciate it for that and many other reasons.
Danny is great at tricking your sense of rhythm.
I think you'll really dig the song Aenima. Just to hear someone say "Fk L. Ron Hubbard"
The song is about California falling off the face of the earth after an earthquake. "See you down in Arizona Bay" ala Bill Hicks.
Great input brother
My girlfriend and I just finished watching all of the Leah Remini aftermath shows. Fuck L. Ron Hubbard for sure.

Thank you making your Reaction Series.... It will be missed....
I'll specifically miss these Tool videos....
I think this is my favorite Tool song. When I first heard this song, I was fucking FLOORED.
best snare sound ever to my ears, this track in particular
Please never feel bad for stopping and talking!! I come here because I LOVE to hear musical professionals talk about my favorite songs and break down what's happening. I'm just a fan and have no idea what is going on musically, I just know it sounds amazing. I love having little insights! Please, continue!!
Not sure if it was intentional, but thanks for pointing out that using music in videos doesn't have to mean a copywrite infringement. Many folks, including myself, have discovered and purchased the music of many bands we had not heard before. If it weren't for the exposure on youtube and other formats, that band/artist may not have ever gotten my dollar of support.
Keep it up. We love it!
I love your videos dude havenât seen anyone on this app that dissects this music as well as you do. Respect.
Check out Rick Beato if you haven't already. He has a series called What Makes This Song Great?. Very detailed break down of many different rock songs. Does a couple of Tool tracks.
It's always so fun to watch people experience Tool songs for the first time. Especially musicians. It's as if a whole realm is opened up to them.
2 months ago the term 'very tool' was alien to you.... love your reactions.... from a composer point of view they are great.....
I can't wait to see what you have to say about 7empest. As a long time tool fan, I legitimately cried the first time I heard that one.
When you talk about how you view the vocals as an instrument, and the singer as a musician using that instrument... Thats literally exactly how maynard talks about his job as a singer, with those exact words. he knows he needs to make his vocals work with the music just as much as the music needs to work with his vocals, its all part and parcel.
You and maynard seem to have a very similar ideology about what a bands singer is bringing to the table in relation to the rest of the band.
Absolutely true.
However it would be great if the Decom payed attention to the fifth element, which is the words and there meaning.
Like listening to the allegory that has been woven.
Great commentary,
Check out their song Eulogy
Dude I am LOVING your Tool reaction videos. You really know what youâre talking about and react with such genuine integrity. Iâm a hardcore fan who has taught myself nearly all their music but still uncover little things here and there that I didnât pay attention to. It so heartwarming to see people with genuine passion experience their music. Keep doing what youâre doing. Warmest salutations from the UK!
Absolutely love this reaction and your comments. Thanks for taking our advice to heart, I hope your channel will grow and you will grow through your channel, the music and the people that connect with you.
I really enjoy your reactions, you clearly know what you are talking about and anyone can see the joy you feel when listening to intriguing music. Very informative and interesting. Keep it up! Some suggestions for other bands to react to: Dance gavin dance, Karnivool, Deftones, Vildhjarta, more Meshuggah and obviously alot more Tool :)
Iâd love to hear his reaction to Blackwater Park by Opeth. Deftones would be sick too
Push it, on salival. A whole different experience. Its live and so good.
Thank you! You are the only reactor I've seen react to this Tool song. I've been an "all over genre" DJ for almost 20 years, yet this has been my favourite song of all time for almost 25 years. Pushit is the most beautifully badass song I've ever heard in my life. Thank you for sharing.
I think a lot of us are coming from your previous videos. I came across your videos poking around for live Tool videos and thought--"Hey, this guy gets it, what else is he going to be into?" And I think your commenters are pointing you in good directions, and you're putting out good videos through both their suggestions and your being both knowledgable and a cool dude. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm happy to follow you in whatever direction you decide to go in at this point.
I cant wait for ticks and leeches, that is by far my favorite track for Danny carreys drumming

â€ïžâïž excellent, as always! I cannot wait to see your reaction to Third Eye! That song is otherworldly đ€đ»
now you need to hear the live version from the Salival album. It's so cool that they have different versions that are both amazing. You also need to listen to their cover of No Quarter!
You need to hear the live reimagined version of this song on Salvial. It's magic.
You need to listen to the Salival live version of this now that this is fresh in your head and hear how they change the first half for the show đ€
đđđđđ»đđ»đđ»đ love that youâre loving Tool! Pushit always gives me goosebumps too, still over 20 years later.
The amount of genius they put into the music is also found in the lyrics. Ignoring takes a dimension away
Iâve seen some of the stuff youâve written and disposition/reflection will give you the greatest appreciation. Itâs trance-like
Please do, "wings for marie" part 1 & 2 together as one piece
Agreed. This is the way
Time for Third Eye (studio version). It'll fit well with your understanding of Tool and their purple aura :)
Super appreciate your breaking things down to give an even finer point of appreciation on a band that means oh so much to me. Aloha and cheers my friend.
Great reactions lol, your facial expressions match what i feel when I listen to Tool. This band is such a rabbit hole for people nowadays and it's great to see. I've been into them since the 90's, "Sober" was played all the time on the radio station I listened to back then, 101 WRIF in Detroit, they probably still play it now every day. After Aenima came out I became a fan and have been impressed with every album since. It's awesome to see reactions from people who never listened to Tool before. Most old school fans like me were introduced to the band through their MTV videos with the disturbing imagery and Maynard as an angry, sarcastic, sorta weirdo genius who could scream harder than Phil Anselmo or put you to sleep with whispers. They were a "90's band" and had a "90's sound" in some ways, but had something else going on in their sound. On Lateralus they did something beyond what any other "90's band" could and have kept pushing that. I'm glad to see they are doing great with the new album and new audiences being exposed to them with the internet and streaming services, and tons of youtuber Tool virgins getting their first taste of my all time favorite band.
If you do Third Eye you MUST DO THE LIVE SALIVAL VERSION! please lol.
Tool 7empest đđđșđžđȘ
That would be a great reaction song yessss! My fav on that album.
"Pushit was a wonderful experience." I love hearing this from other people. So much music out there is just that, an experience. Thanks for sharing with us again. I don't have any friends that get into music at this level, so it is nice to hear you share your experiences. Keep 'em coming!
Sorry for all the replies. Iâm just a little chemically involved too. Absolutely amazing. Everything. Just off the charts. Tool does this. They are a once in a lifetime experience. I was born in 1971. I got the late experience of the Zeppelin and Floyd years and enjoyed every song of their discographies. I am so glad that I lived through all of this. Iâve seen Tool at least 8-9 times between Nashville, Memphis, and Atlanta. Missed them with Alice In Chains in Hawaii in 93 (I was at Schofield from â91-â95) and it hurts my soul. My two favorite bands and missed them so early and with Layne before he started to decline. Thank you for doing these. They hit me hard, especially since youâre in Hawaii. Do Alice In Chains Love Hate Love live at the Moore, please. I think everyone watching your channel would absolutely love it.
