I like how the Kia EV3 looks.
KIA RAY EV is better tho, at least a far better vehicle for purpose use.
Styling is just cladding.
The design is aweful, EV6 is the one for me
Still like 5k more then the mg4
There’s something really retro about it, the interior especially, the logo being off centre is a callback to cars from the 80-90s
I think it reminds me a bit of the Land Rover Defender.
Reminds me of Citroen - who were big into asymmetric badging too
i just saw KIA EV catching fire.
i wont even consider it.
@@newchannel1220 What kind was it ? Where ? Would be good to know , please.
Laptop? No, that's for a KFC sharing bucket!
I wouldn't have that junk muck in me car ;-)
Could use it to hold your box of malteasers
whatever❤
It's for snorting cocaine lol
@@VahndammeI never thought of that
KIA are killing it, looooove this
one scratch on battery cost you $60,000.
thats how they make money its a scam.
@@fffwe3876 what are you on about?
@@zeberday1 he's on about some news from ages ago that wasn't even accurate. don't mind him, he definitely is just pushing an agenda.
@@fffwe3876 Why would the battery cost you almost 2x more than the car?
I quite like this car. Definitely a contender for my next car.
There are just so many EV’s coming out in the market that it’s really difficult when to buy. It’s a good looking car too!
I would recommend you lease at the moment. I have a friend who works for Audi and they are replacing EV battery cells at 3k a pop under warranty at the moment. Its still very new tech. Honda have gone hybrid 1500cc engine with EV battery that gets charged by the engine. 60 ish MPG I believe. Honda and Toyota do not believe long term Japan can produce enough green electricity for all these EVs. Personally I'm still firmly on the fence regarding full EV's
@@madmcadder4536 I the U.K. it only makes sense to lease as that is when you get all the tax benefits. There again the two year old 20000 mile Ioniq 5 for £22000 a local dealer has might be a reasonable purchase,
@@madmcadder4536 Only 3K? That is less than engine or transmissions in ICE Audi's which often go for 5k+
Lease new buy used the technology is still immature all EVs keep improving
Batteries keep improving
Range keeps improving
@@madmcadder4536 Better to avoid NCA/NMC batteries all together really...unless you want to replace the battery in 15 years (also affects resale value). I mean, by that time they will definitely be cheaper but even if such service will be offered it's still going to be extra cost for a couple of thousand. With LFP battery cells, the car will fall apart before the battery dies lol

The gap is there for good reason, the car comes with reclining seats, theres afew videos on the internet where one of the seats is reclined and the other isn’t. The seats were not reclined when Doug was walking around the car. Reclining the seats may also help allows a touch more headroom.
Reclining rear seats is a feature that’s easy to forget but a good one to have nonetheless.
Pre-production model probably doesn't have the seats that recline to fill the gap. Production cars will have the recliner built into the seat back.
Hyundai/KIA & Tesla are winning
the (non-Chinese)
EV transition.
Tesla is in a league of their own but yes, kia and Hyundai are doing well too
This is such a unique and good looking vehicle...clean lines and not overstyled. Really like the thoughtful touches both inside and out. Can definitely see myself driving one. Keep up the excellent reviews.
I love EV5 that launched in Thailand recently, perfect size around 30 cm. longer than EV3 and look fantastic.
Thanks Doug for another considered review. Really like the EV3’s exterior and interior. This could well be a replacement for our ID3, at the end of the year.
Huge respect to kia. They have turned their perception. Making great cars lately
And completely abandoning the entry level market.
Do you not see this as a grave sign of a top -heavy market economy fit for collapse??
It's not even available yet... at the moment, all that you can drive is the press release ! How can you call it a "great car"?!
@@toyotaprius79 $30k ev is not an entry level offering?
Got a Kia Niro EV2 - great car. To all the EV haters - just try driving one - great seamless power delivery - smooth drive all way through. As long as you got a driveway to charge up safely no real problems. Yes long journeys need a little forward planning but bo biggy whilst ya grab lunch/take a break. Would never go back unless for ££ reasons.
converted Petrol head biker 👍👍
I would be interested to know your EVs range in cold weather (see What Cars multi Vehicle EV test at Mill Brook) most EVs seem to get 100 miles less range than the official figures at around 11 degrees C in the UK. If you only use yours for commuting locally you probably will not be effected.
I've had an e-Niro here in France since March 2019, we have to date done 101,000 km in the car. It has been pretty much faultless apart from the 12v battery needing replacement. It is great to drive and super efficient. Our winter/summer average is 14 kWh/100 km...so just over 4 miles/kWh?...450 km on a full charge is easily done, a mid winter 1,100 km run to Germany in 2022 (grandkids get born at inconvenient times and places!)...suggests that 350 km is more realistic in winter on fast roads. EV3 looks great but not much of a step up in charging speeds sadly.
it’s an EV so it’s a shitbox 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@Aliens_Gonna_Get_Ya Oh please!.. just crawl back into your polluted fossil fuel hole and don't bother making stupid comments.
@@madmcadder4536at 11 degs C you’d probably lose 30. Freezing 60 miles.
This is a beautiful EV
Exterior is OK, acceptable.
Interior looks excellent ; simple-clean-tidy dashboard layout, horizontal display.
And drive shifter on the column frees up center console area from unnecessary clutter.
looks awesome, Kia's design are hitting the mark
looks really neat.. like a mini EV9, interior with felt material makes it feel like a living room
Most probably my next véhicule
Good looking car! Well done KIA!
Excellent review & car. Disappointed that remains FWD and probably prone to torque steer especially in the wet. Will salivate over a potential GT or “N” spec AWD version in the future. Ioniq 5N is nice but just too big. This is perfectly sized for a hot EV. Only other disappointment is the slowish charge speeds. Other 400v cars now do 150-170kW, (and Tesla 240+ kW with 400v!), so no excuse really but the charge curve is more relevant than charge speed, so let’s see.
Can't understand why the guy makes a comparison with the Hyundai Kona EV but not the Kia e-Niro.
Beautiful!
Nice looking car!
Great review and a nice car! Your use of the word 'sat' instead of 'sitting' is so funny, though! 'Sitting' and 'standing' doesn't seem to be a word that Brits have heard before.....
Hyundai Kia are light years ahead of BMW BENZ and AUDI
At least the Audi charges almost 2x faster 200+kw
Audi is just a brag name. Audi has many issues with quality, bad comfort and the small models have high Db level in cockpit. They look cool and people pays the overprice for that
Love it. Looks great. Awesome color as well.
link please, for that awesome kicks 😎💯👍
Is new Sportage also on the way?
Hie I'm from Zimbabwe. I like watching your videos. I was asking that if possible can you also use kilometers coz don't understand miles
1 mile = 1.6 kilometers
The standard model has 408 km ragn, and the long range model has 560km range. That's impressive.
Love how articulate you are for your car reviews. Great work.
Do you know if standard and long range versions will be available at launch? Range for these?
What will be braked towing limit.?
I’ve got great variation on reviews. Local dealers don’t know. Kia uk refer me to dealers. Grr.
Its 2 classes below EV6, total other tech and platform. Why dont we get any news on the EV5 ? is it not coming to EU/UK.
Pls review the Honda Eny1
'Makes it really easy to vurtue signal to whoever is in the passenger seat'
Hilarious
Which other car brand is building great EVs besides Kia?
At this price point? Can't think of any. Tesla is the $30-40k EV standard of course but the lack of physical buttons plus me hating elon musk both make me want to pursue an EV3.
@@linusmlgtips2123 Same here, I won't buy anything elon sells.
@@ASD-DAD 😂 yea because we are poor
@@Chaos96_ You are, we not.
Chevy Bolt. Good car, 250 miles range and 26,700$ new.
For the refresh or update KIA should have the AC fixed on the bottom of the LCD screen instead of in that weird awkward space. But I'm loving everything else about this SUV.
Nice interior
Quality on this vehicle surpasses Audi, Tesla and any EV i've seen, they should all copy KIA now on. ! What a great job.
Nonsense
Fantascit Car ! We gotta see the final price but this is a candy !
Nice size hatchback. I like it.
Not quite the concept but close enough, glad they didn't make it lame like so many car companies do. this might be my first EV, it's #1 on my short list. Great review!
The EV2 would be the logical Soul EV replacement when it comes out in 2026.
Love it. this can be a replacement for my Prius if it is a hybrid.
I’m so, so excited for the EV3!
LR GT-line and I’m a happy man.
Very nice and will sell well, Kia are a force to be reckoned with. Charging speed is low, could have done better.
Better than an EV6? No way, not even close. I will be keeping my EV6 which is better looking than the newer facelift version.
Those roof bars also allow you to attach a ping pong net and have a game whilst you wait for charging.
NOTICE that the distance of the front seat "where I would be comfortable driving" is 4 inches back, from where the moderator is talking from in the back sea, WITH the front seat adjusted forward to be even to the pillar. Why be deceptive? Also, he's just not that tall. If you don't care about rear leg room, and want 300 miles this is great. Great competitor to the more expensive Volvo 30.
And AWD version???!!! Now, that is different to all competitors in the US in the segment: Bolt, Kona, Niro, similar perhaps to Equinox.
Love it. But I refuse to work through dealers and their last minute “market pricing adjustments” as extortion.
Don't forget about the ev 5
KIA seem to have come on in leaps and bounds in the last few years. Strangely I like the look of this EV if they carry the proto type styling through to the production model that is!!
However in your, 11 degrees C, EV testing at Mill brook I noticed the figures for these vehicles in the UK at least are around 100 miles less than the official figures so 255 miles becomes a true figure of around 155 miles realistic range.
this front wheel very efficent i compare to my E niro get up to 6miles/kWh no any ev does that so this car can reach 400mile range
Since this is replacing the Kia Soul EV, I wonder if the EV3 will also be the basis for the next-generation Kia Soul.
It's like they designed it without considering the steering wheel. They should make that part of the steering wheel clear or put a tiny QLED screen there so you can see what's behind it.
THANK YOU
I'd buy the 250mile one if it had faster charging, I think under 20mins 10% to 80% would make having a longer range vehicle less of an issue. Seems a bit daft to not have the same charging speeds as the EV9 and EV6. Why not offer faster charging as an option to both the short and long range models for those that can afford it?
Wow , I really like it ❤❤❤❤
Id choose this over any of the competitors all day
It's about the same price, range, battery size and charging speed even boot size as an ID3/Born.
Lovely car. I wanna grab one
Kia also announced that they will be building this car in Mexico to qualify for the US ev tax credits and will be priced at $30k for the base model (not sure if that includes the $7,500 credit in that price or not) either way a nice thing to see more cost effective cars coming to the North American market instead of getting another $100k+ truck or three row SUV.
Let's hope the QR code won't be on the final model either.
OMG! I just leased a new Niro EV Wave -- is this EV3 smaller than the Niro? The Soul is a big smaller and I found the shape so frumpy. I really do love my Niro EV and have had it for just one week.
Quite similar size.
The HVAC control seems to have been designed, by someone sitting in the passenger seat.
As to the outside, it’s another IBC on wheels. When they did the wind tunnel tests, could they not find anything but a breeze block?
The Chinese have lowered these prices down to a more affordable range but I doubt it will be that low at launch
I'm still wondering since when "sitting" become "sat" ?
The back seat reclines, but no explanation is provided.
Very very nice
Looks cool
Perfect family car
Nice interior. However, I personally am not so keen on the exterior design. From the side it looks more like a military utility vehicle. Can't imagine the box-like shape does much to improve efficiency.
Cd figure of 0.26 - so, surprisingly aerodynamic - SUVs usually above 0.35. Saloons between .25 and .3. Designers have much better understanding of aerodynamics in recent times, with computer modelling and the likes.
For people that don't like the boxy look of KIA EVs, Hyundai is going the more rounded design for their EVs.
Love the design, cant wait to get it second hand in the coming years
Brilliant, no loading lip in the boot. Beloved by reviewers who never put anything in the boot that will fall out as soon as you accelerate or park on a hill 😮
For reference, how tall are you?
Hilarious they have to make EVs relaxing and entertaining for charging time.😅
You have no ideas about differences between EV and traditional engine car.
This is not just about killing time when you charge EVs. You have to start the engine to do something in the traditional car with noise meanwhile an EV provides personal and private space where you can actually do your work or rest relying on a huge battery.
Really nice car. Definitely on my list.
Two-toned seats look like the car was flooded 😂
Best looking of the three entry EVs
It's all fun and games when compared to the "competitors" you mentioned but in reality this is going up against the Model Y in terms of price since KIA loves to overprice their models.
This will sell like hot cakes.
Nope, too wide. Single track Country lanes, garages, busy car parks? This is not a small car.
Compared to the EV9, it is small...
How big is this? The size of a CRV?
Kia/Hyundai achieve 90% of claimed range. VW 50%. My personal experience.
Looks great, very premium. More sleepless nights in Germany?
Where's the EV5?! I want an EV5!!
Long range is the one but I really don't like the wheels. Sometimes I feel like manufacturers go way to far trying to stand out with their evs. I don't need blue badging or a super futuristic interior. Just make a normal car lol
Great video. Really like the idea of being able to use a laptop whilst driving, it saves so much time as you can work whilst driving, particularly on motorways, which are boring, and especially useful to watch videos or play games in traffic. The crashes and lives lost from distracted drivers is definately worth it. KIA are onto something here. Excellent idea to have dashboard screens that are unable to be seen without peering around the steering wheel, it helps concentration and being able to get information quickly. Good to see hard plastics, no need for squishy dashboards as noone ever sits on it. Hope the LED headlights are really bright, so that they dazzle other drivers at night.
Needs a doggy window in the rear...HUD available?
Rather slow charging speeds
They moved the charge port to the wrong place 😕
4.3 meter. As long as hrv
Kia/Hyundai keep hitting it out of the park. This absolutely craps all all over offerings from VW Group and most other European manufacturers.
There also an EV4 on the way I believe which will challenge the Model 3 segment.
All the Koreans need now is to get an EV1 or EV 2 entry level EV on the roadmap and they’ll be the best sellers in Europe - especially if Chinese brands are penalised by tariffs
Is EU putting tariffs on Chinese EVs?
When a 6lb battery can move a 3000lb vehicle 20/25 miles in snow, freezing cold, sizzling heat, up or down a mountain and still run the heater , AC, radio , power steering and other misc. accessories, like a convertible top movement or cell phone charging then Ev will have a chance, Maybe. There will still be charging issues , battery replacement issues and of course the ridiculous cost issues. Basically that's the E=mc2 of electric vehicles.
Looks like a pontiac aztec at the front 😂
MG4 😊
Really slow charging undermines the range benefits. Good looking car though.
It’s perfectly decent speed if you want to stop for a 20 minute break.
looks great but i can tell lease prices will be near 400 a month so will be a ripoff
Form Me , only EV3 GT AWD will be under consideration
Waiting for Ioniq 3
We should lobby the congress to allow the best EV cars into our market, instead of block them from coming to our market.
This can't compete with the Elephant in the room.
Cool styling but I value SOFTWARE & chip hardware above that and no one can hold a candle to teslas brilliant custom software & hardware stack.
Kia’s software and infotainment is absolutely rock solid.
So time to move on to look at the actual car.
